I guess the modern map must be absolutely inverted or mixed :-P West Europe and the US fall into social programs while ex. Soviet countries and even China can be considered capitalistic if we talk about the financial model. I mean: the communistic model was based on Planned Economy: it allowed to build giant projects and people paid by their comfort. The "West" society has: - censorship (some subjects of discussion are strictly forbidden) - social programs that are being released due to high taxes. the more you earn, the more taxes you pay. by other words, you share your income with others. looks like communism. - the EU has a centralized state, commissars, etc. Well, let's return to the book illustration. As far as I know, the communist countries weren't united at that time: USSR, China, Romania, Albania, Yugoslavia have had minimal contact to each other due to ideological disagreements and some African governments were red too. This comment can be referred to the book content. But this channel is about the language. So, I understood everything in this video :-)

I am not sure whether you have a video on it yet, if you could do a " beginners book to read" kind of video, that'll be great. Otherwise, you can recommend some easy to read and understand books for someone learning slovak...Dakujem, ty si najlepsia a pekna.

I enjoy listening to your videos in Slovak. Unfortunately I have not yet visited your country, though I have visited Prague in the Czech Republic two times, and I have studied Czech for many years, so Slovak is relatively easy to understand. When I had a DNA test done two years ago, I was surprised to see that 11% of my DNA comes from ancestors who lived in the eastern part of Slovakia and the south eastern part of Poland, so I think that these ancestors were probably Rusin.

Are múr and stena synonyms, or is there a difference between these two words' meaning?
@LearnSlovakwithStories7 ай бұрын
That's an excellent question! They are very similar but stena is normally indoors, there's a ceiling on top of it, it's part of a room. Múr more often refers to an oudoor one, you can see over it.

Interesting that you say that Ginsberg has been prohibited in Czechoslovakia because he was definitely a left-wing poet. I think the word "Socialism" is more appropriate to describe those systems than "Communism". Communism was an utopia that was supposed to be reached in historic terms, but those systems called themselves Socilaism. I had a very similar map of what you have shown. The explanation was that socialism has already won in one sixth of the globe, the rest will follow soon. I have travelled a lot in the socialist Czechoslovakia, I never had the feeling that it was a "totalism". I remember every hotel in Karlovy Vary was named after soviet cities :) I have read a lot from Hrabal, Kundera and Menzel, they were all published in Hungary.
@LearnSlovakwithStories3 жыл бұрын
Sure, and as I explained in the video, for the sake of simplicity of the language I use, I decided to use the terms interchangeably in this video. Príbeh Ginsberga a Československa je zaujímavý, ale komplikovaný. Ginsberg bol v Československu, ale deportovali ho. Tu je krátke video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3nLZ51tgrSCmqs
