I will never finish the House of Night series by PC Cast. I made it to the third one and gave up cause its 12 books long and it wasn't great. I didn't care for the characters and the story got a bit ridiculous. The main character had like 4 love interests.
@annah77969 жыл бұрын
I read the series when I was on the naïve side of life and really enjoyed it, i think that it was a good concept but bad execution. I really liked the whole idea behind it and the basis but it just got to the point where it was ridiculous. And obviously now that I matured, I see that and many other flaws. And I realized how much I dislike Zoey, like 3 boyfriends and keeping secrets from your bestfriends is just absolutely ridiculous
@user-rj2iw2fg5m9 жыл бұрын
+Annah I relate to this sooo much it's painful. I've read the first ELEVEN BOOKS in the short period of TWO WEEKS. I was, to be frank, obsessed. When I had to wait for the last book I realised how bad they actually were and how dragged out the series was. Like more than half of the plot was random and there was no need for it. The series should've ended ALOT sooner than it did, in my opinion.

They're also quite action packed and easy to get through so I would recommend them.

omg not the legend trilogy regan :(( and i don't know what you heard about champion but i thought it was a great ending. i think the reason why some people might not like it is bc it isn't as "happy" as they would want it to be (this may not be true for everyone who dislikes it however). hope you'll revisit it in the future though!

On a little more serious note Regan I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I just wanted to thank you for how you handled this video. it's so nice how you explicitly stated that you didn't care much for the books anymore, but you did it in a gracious manner in which you didn't make us, those who do care about them, feel bad. Thanks for that!! bc idk but when it comes to me I get really sensitive and defensive and angry when someone goes off about one of my favorite series, but this video didn't make me upset because you have completely understandable reasons as to why you weren't interested, and you didn't just throw the books down onto the dirt and stomp on them along with my heart. but to sum it all up, this video is awesome and I loved it and thank you!!!

I finished the These Broken Stars trilogy and honestly I love all of the books. I like the new characters for every book because they all have such different personalities, and I love each of them. You'll get more into the overarching plot as you read and more will be revealed. Plus, the older characters do make appearances in the later books since they tie together (: Personally, I think I've given up on the Half Bad trilogy. I gave book 1 3 stars, and I've been telling myself to read Half Wild, but it just isn't happening.

I read the second book in the These Broken Stars series the end of last month, and it was quite good and I'm looking forward to reading the conclusion, it did take me a while to like and get to know these two new characters (Jubilee and Flynn)-however Lilac and Tarver do pop up in this book a bit-when things start to unravel and gets exciting. The third book I believe is about one character we meet in the This Shattered World and someone else, but the four previous characters are also in that I think! It's a good read, and I think you might enjoy it! There's no harm in trying the second book at least! I'm also glad someone else thought the Grisha trilogy was 'eehhh'.

DEFINITELY CONTINUE AFTER THESE BROKEN STARS! I loved the first book and was really hesitant about carrying on with the series as I've never read companion novels before and I wanted more of the first characters but honestly, carry on! In the second book you meet a new male and female lead in a new situation on a new planet but it is in no way samey! I was amazed how they could create two sets of male/female leads and they be so distinct, their personalities never blend together and trying to work out the mystery of the conspiracy running through the whole universe was so interesting! I really want to read the third but I'm on a book buying ban so I hope my boyfriend got me the last for Christmas as he knows how much I loved the first two :)

For "These Broken Stars," when I finished it I had a hard time going through Tarver/Lilac withdrawal so I had a hard time getting into the second one. I haven't actually read the second one, but I do know that Tarver makes an appearance in the second one more so than Lilac.... and Lilac and Tarver are a central point in the third novel. I did some skimming and I think there's a big showdown between the three couples and Mr. La Roux. For the sake of Tarver and Lilac, I'm going to try again.

I haven't read the sequels to These Broken Stars, but I have heard that the characters show up in the other books. I don't know if it's like The Lunar Chronicles where it just adds on the protagonists. I think it's more like, in This Shattered World the couple from These Broken Stars show up as side characters. And then in This Fractured Light the previous two couples show up as side characters. Which is kinda interesting but I'm also hesitant to keep going with the Starbound books. I liked the first book well enough, but it was a very small story. It didn't exactly inspire a grand feeling of an overarching space opera to me, which I think is where the sequels are meant to be heading to. I might try them out sometime in the distant future.

I like the personal honesty, it's important particularly when you're running out of room on your bookshelves. Most series I don't really bother with, my general feeling is that a truly good book can get it done in one go. Don't get me wrong, once I start a series, I'm usually in it to win it and there are some that I love but the following are just some I have absolutely no interest in...Game of Thrones, Outlander, the Grisha Trilogy, and possibly Divergent although I did pick up the first book. I do have some that have been on the back burner for a long time but I'm hoping that I can make a serious push on some series in 2016. There are a lot of unfinished stories on my bookshelves and I feel I need to right that wrong.
@Midnight1i1y9 жыл бұрын
There are two series that jump out at me on this subject. 1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone - Don't get me wrong, I LOVED that book, but I was happy with how it ended. I don't really have any inclination to read any more in that world and I don't really understand why. I just don't have any yearning for more. 2. Anything by Amanda Hocking. I think I've been sucked into every single series she's written for some reason or another. The pitch would catch me, or a cover would appeal, and I kept forgetting how much I didn't gel with her style of writing. I haven't read anything from her latest series, but I've read at least four first books in the past and never completed a series.

I actually never realized that the new Lux covers form a bigger picture. Neat! Shadow and Bone was okay, and recent enough to say I'm going to follow through with it, so probably? Same goes for Angelfall, but I liked that one a lot more. One series I need to get back to quickly or risk leaving behind is Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles. They just weren't that gripping!

OH MY GOD SAME! I really loved the Angelfall series(I still do)but after reading the second story, the it's book took FOREVER to come out and by the time it did, I didn't have any desire to read it. I do plan on reading it one day though, just not anytime soon

I'm not going to finish The Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices series. I just didn't care about them. I tried so hard, but nope. Couldn't do it.

I probably won't finish the Grisha trilogy (but I will also try to read Six of Crows), Throne of Glass, The Maze Runner trilogy, and An Ember in the Ashes.

For the lux series you don't have to finish it but there's a book where it retells the first 3 books in daemon's pov and it's so worth it

About This Shattered World (second book to These Broken Stars in the starbound trilogy): I liked the second book better. I think the characters had more development and were less cliché. The plot in general still had twists but was explained better. Anyway if you end up reading it I'd really love to see a review! 😃Happy December

I gave up on The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars book series, they just all got too dramatic and at some times, almost like a telanovela. I love drama, but after awhile I just can't go on.

Oh!! I wish more people talked about This Shattered World and Their Fractured Light, because those books are really great!! I definitely enjoyed the entire series.

Everyone has their own series that they won't finish like I do too. For example, I will never finish the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, The Saddle Club series by Bonnie Bryant, Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, so on and so forth. Sometimes we just can't get excitement from a particular series.

I recently gave up on the Grisha trilogy after only reading the first book. I went into it with pretty low expectations and I was still disappointed! There were just too many things I that just didn't make sense or were ridiculous. I tried to force myself to continue because I already owned the whole thing but for days after i finished my brain still kept falling into rants over it and I just had to come to terms with the fact that I didn't like it and needed to get rid of it!

I saw Winger on your book shelf in one of your videos and OMG I was freaking out when I saw it. I love that book and the second book was good too, but didn't quite beat the first book.

Nooo you have to read the other books in the These Broken Stars/Starbound trilogy! I love it! I haven't read book 3 yet but I'm about 80% done with book 2 and it's really good! Tarver and Lilac are in it so I think you would enjoy the rest of the series.

I'm definitely not going to finish the bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, which is such a huge shame because I did like the first three books of the series, but then book four happened and I gave it one more shot with book five, but couldn't do it. In the end, I donated all those books, including the vampire academy ones because I was so let down by that series.

If I don't marathon read a series it's very unlikely that I'll continue the series just because it's hard for me to remember what's happening and to get reconnected with the characters. Currently struggling with in the after light because I don't have a clue what happened in the last book so it's hard for me to get back in to the story 😩
@sugar74839 жыл бұрын
You should finish the series 'these broken star' I've read the first 2 and haven't gotten to the 3rd yet cause I know I'm getting it for Christmas but I read the 2nd book in about 2 days it was so good! And while it's a companion book the characters do cross over for a fair bit of it and I know that's how the 3rd is supposed to be too.

I probably will never finish the Divergent trilogy, because my friend spoiled me with the biggest spoiler of the last book and I just can't bring myself it read it now that I know this thing that happens. Which is really upsetting because I loved the first two books.

I had a similar thing with Julie Kagawa books - I read Talon and I didn't like the book, but the story is still hooked in my brain!

I could never finish the Ruby Red series by Kerstin Gier. I absolutely loved the first book, but I read the second book about a month after because I'd read Ruby Red right before the second book came out, and then Emerald Green (the last in the trilogy) took over a year to come out and I just completely lost interest. I have also never finished the Infernal Devices series by Cassie Clare. I don't think I need to go into why I never finished that one.

i read the first two books of these broken stars and i must say that i, like you, too only cared about the first two characters. the two main characters in the second novel didn't speak to me as much, though i liked the boy better than the girl. in the second novel, the two characters from these broken stars make an appearance tho so that was nice! i am going to finish the series bc i want to know what happens and i'm interested in the last two characters. hope this helped :)

Aww, I liked the ending of the Angelfall trilogy! haha Oh, and I also couldn't finish the Legend trilogy, even when my friend told it was amazing. I guess it's because I can't stand that gender anymore...

Same! I honestly found nothing wrong with End of Days 😂 Maybe it was wrapped up too nicely and went by so quick that I kind of felt like I read nothing ? but that's really just about it.

I haven't read the last book yet. They should've at least made into a quartet instead of a trilogy though.

Cooleen Books That's the regret with this series 😳 I really wish they let Susan Ee run longer with it so the world could have been more fully developed.

+Laura Siqueira Cavalcanti I also really loved the ending. End of Days is one of my favorite books of 2015. I honestly don't get why some people don't like it. It didn't feel rushed, it was all epic and Penryn & Rafe!!
@lauracavalcanti98229 жыл бұрын
+Malena Sol Winderbaum I think what made me enjoy it at first was how the angels were portrayed. I was tired of reading the same kind of story about them (like Fallen). Also, the main character is so badass! Haha

I'm shock, most of the books that you mentioned were very interesting for me when I read it but I think is because as you said our taste of books change while we grow up maybe I don't think the same about them as I did at the beginning

I have completely given up on the House Of Night series, It's a 12-book long series with 4 backstory novellas and I got to the 9th or 10th book and I just could even get 50 pages into it. I like were the 9th book ended and I have to leave it at that.

Did you hear that the Winner's Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski had a cover change? The new covers are....... Interesting. I've read Grave Mercy and really liked it, though I sadly haven't continued on 😢
@CFAnne9 жыл бұрын
You really should continue with His Fair Assassin! The second book is PHENOMENAL. As is the third. Honestly, Grave Mercy is my least favorite so I can understand your hesitance. As for the Grisha, I hope you change you mind. Totally agree about the Lux series and the Legend trilogy, though.

Honestly, I don't think Champion (Legend #3) is worth it. I never finished The Immortal Rules either. Regan, I feel like you would LOVE Six of Crows. Please read it, I haven't even read the Grisha Trilogy (and I probably never will) and I ADORED that book. It'll be in my top 3 books for this year. By the way, you should check out the "In the Company of Killers" series, they are so addicting and super incredible!
