The reason the stock air box is so convoluted is for noise/emission reasons, Lotus would not set it up like that if they had a choice

Holy crap guys, it's like you guys cut out a whole tumor out to the car. Sounds a lot like my SC Elise now, very pronounced whine and growl. I like it!

Thanks for posting this! I am changing out my shift cables and installing a BOE at the same time, since the airbox has to come out to do the shift cables... Your video has certainly given me a better idea how to do it.

@@BookAutowerks 100%... Watched this, then ripped out the airbox. Just finished up. Took a little over an hour. Didnt have to remove that part that Nigel messed up on yours, but the 5" hose from outside to engine bay wasn't even connected to the body on mine, so was a little easier.

This is near identical to the car I've just bought. Do you know if the owner had any issue with the oiled filter upsetting the MAF sensor. I've heard of the oil coating the wire over time and upsetting the readings

No he hasn't had any issues with his MAF. He drives the car pretty often, too.
