My grandmother was a master bookbinder and restorer. As a little boy in the 70’s and 80’s I would sit in her bindery, under instruction to not touch anything, and watch her work. It is some of the most happy memories of my childhood. She’s long since passed now, but I have some of her fine bindings as a memory of her. Thank you for making this video, it brought back many happy memories.

In the beginning of our relationship, my girlfriend gifted me a book she bound herself, designed with my favourite colors and shapes, because I love to write. Now that I see the process I appreciate it even more. It’s one of my most prized possessions.

If there were Emmys for KZbin videos, you'd win it in a walk away. This is sublime. The photography, lighting, background, and quiet is compellingly beautiful. At the same time it's valuable for instruction. Your silence narrows the focus down to a laser light of clarity. And no blathering chattiness is a great relief. Fantastic work!

@@bittermelonbindery about the logo: have you ever thought of embossing it on the first or last page? I believe it might suit well the theme of your books!
@avarineavee65022 жыл бұрын
@@bittermelonbinderyif I can suggest something - I was thinking about a stamp with logo / signature that I could put on the last page (actually this decorative colorful backing page) of the book / sketchbook. I think I'll buy one, but for now I'm drawing my logo on my own. You could do the same! I also can send you link to my gdrive with pics of how does it look, if you'd like to 👀
@darkwriter_xx942 жыл бұрын
@@nk7221 I recommend this. I stamp and emboss my logo on the back end page right before I glue in the textblock.

I got a stamp made with my logo and website on it. It can be a bit hit and miss with the results, but I think it adds to the handmade aesthetic- plus good for branding.
