SF is amazing! It’s a gorgeous amazing city. Every huge city has drug sues and huge homeless problems. So? No one bothers me. I work with people in urgent need of help with people . They generally bother no one. Enjoy your trip and stop over blowing risk. SF is fabulous. I am in Vancouver and I am in SF often. We have a huge opioid issue. It’s still an amazing city. These people need help. Cheers!

Well edited. Happy anniversary you guys. The Hyatt looks great and convenient. That is really cool you were there on fleet week weekend especially with your son in the Navy. The club used to be a public restaurant. I worked in the Embarcadero area for 20 years and never had a problem. Wow you got a deal on the hotel or at least surprising to me. All the best, Mike

Ah! Interesting that the club was a restaurant. Yeah, Fleet Week was fun, and Patti hugging the sailors! Unfortunately, our son was not one of them, as he's not on a ship like these sailors. I was shocked at the affordability of this Hyatt. Thanks, Mike!! 🥤

Yeah, we had no idea! I am still amazed at how affordable the stay was! We have done the ferry once, from Oakland to the Ferry building and back. I researched a sunset cruise for the weekend, but, because of Fleet Week, they were pricier than normal (I believe, and probably booked.) Another time. Thanks, Barb! Appreciate you stopping by! (Headed to the city tonight for a music event). 🥤

Thank you! Yes, Patti hugged a few sailors this weekend. Unfortunately, our son was not one of them (He's not on a ship as are these sailors). The weather was WARM this weekend. Not unusual, as you know, and because of the warm days, we had to leave our music event only about an hour in as the venue was WAY to warm with all the people and no A.C. Was a bummer.

This is what I call a fair and balanced review. You showed us how wonderful the majority of the city is, but also acknowledged the problem SF is facing. The media and some politically motivated people are focusing on the negative and paint it with one brush making an impression that the whole city is problematic. I almost bought it, but went there with my family late last year, it was wonderful! I remember in 2020 when we had bushfires here in NSW (Australia), the media headline was "Australia is Burning", my friends and relatives overseas were all calling us to see if we were alright, and I said the fire was in the bush and we're nowhere near the bush! So there you go! Thanks for the video!

We appreciate the compliment 🥰 We do travel to the city often, and we are fans of the city, and as you acknowledge, it is not as bad as the media portrays it. You have to just be vigilant when visiting, probably like any other major metropolitan city. Thanks for visiting! Hope to have you and your family in California again! 🥤

How I'm feeling is more where I focus. I'm 50+ and used to go to his office in the old Hartford Bldg on California street in the 70s and 80s. I also went with my wife a lot in the late 90s and early 2000s. There have always been homeless etc.. and for sure the media paints the negative side because it gets clicks; attention but there is truth within. We were just in the city over Memorial Weekend which is a 'dead' time of year but the bartender at Perry's off the Embarcadero on Steuart with hotels nearby said they used to stay open and be busy until Midnight-1am and now they close at 9-9:30pm. It was a Saturday so even with less office workers nearby, at 7:00pm there were four people in a burger joint that should have had more like 10-15 people. It was different. Fishermen's Wharf was like 25% of the normal crowds at 1pm and then out of nowhere it got packed but it was mostly foreign tourists and not much domestic so the fear porn is definitely steering domestic travelers away. We stopped by the bike rental kiosk near F.W. and talked to them because I'd heard about 90% of foreign travelers had returned to S.F. but only 60-70% of domestic and I think that's being generous or is talking business travel because the guy said 4+ years ago he'd do $300-$400 a day in sales and now they do $100-$200 a day in sales. So there are less active travelers too. Certain areas like the Buena Vista for Irish coffees was the same but lots of empty storefronts or with limited open hours, but this is happening all over. Regards,

Sorry I should have proofread. What I meant is how I'm feeling is whether I focus on the positives or negatives more, and "..going to his office" should have noted going to my dad's office during my summer breaks where I'd go off and wander through Chinatown and North Beach down to Aquatic Park and Embarcadero. During the '89 earthquake the media, especially East Coast made it sound like the entire Bay Area was in ruin so that if it bleeds it leads is pretty locked in now. That sentiment made S. Central LA sound like people were being shot right and left in the 80s, but I can also say having lived with forest fires burning 15-20 miles away that although few homes burned down the skies were smoke filled with terrible (hazardous) air quality for weeks on end was very rough and yet 50+ miles away there were blue skies and people living life as if those fires weren't happening- our situation wasn't on their radars at all but to live with smoky hazy skies for days and days and no break, hoping the wind will shift, where you can't open a window and it's 90+ degrees and the sun is just a vague orange orb in endless haze felt like a 'Mad Max' movie. Cheers.

@@nittygritty7434 Yes, in regards to both of your posts (thanks for clarifying the "office" thing) we've only known SF as it is since 2020 when we started visiting routinely. The late night bar and restaurant hours is something we were not aware of. When booking a hotel, I pay attention to restaurant hours within walking distance. Tourism is down, certainly, but like everything else, it's cyclical. The city is doing a LOT to promote downtown events (music events) and there is a music event happening this Saturday. One week of promotion and 25,000 tickets sold (will be outside in the plaza in front of city hall). 40% of tickets holders are from outside the Bay Area (EDM music). I read religiously the SF Standard blog. I stay tuned in to all things SF (for my own knowledge, and for the purpose of our channel). Media does get in the way. These homeless and drug use issues happen in every city, but it's easy to pick on SF. And as you say, all natural disasters are hyped up for coverage. The fires in 2020 were not fun. That orange glow. Well, any recent fire. My brother and sis-in-law were in the Coffey Park fire in Santa Rosa. Their house was sparred only because the winds died down. Camp Fire, etc. Lets be thankful we've had to "dormant" fire seasons the past two years with all the rainfall. Hoping for another "quiet" season. Thanks for your commentary. I always appreciate it. 😉🥤

@@deniseannmarie5405 Hello! Sorry for the delay, but, we were on vacation. First, there are no budget friendly hotels near the Chase Center. The closest (with the "best" reviews" would be the Utah Hotel). Most hotels all have promotions or military discounts (although most won't advertise military discounts, but you would need to call and ask). There's this too, any promotion of a hotel room for a discounted rate will likely mean you will be staring at the wall of an adjoining building. That may not be a big deal to you. Feel free to email us at darin@sippycupadventures.com and we can discuss further!

Hey! Anjuna love!! Yes. The more we travel, the more we learn about the city, and the more safe we feel. When our travels take us by the Tenderloin(ish), I never feel threatened. It's more about car break-ins, and as we mention, just valet park then use Uber or Lyft to get around. 🥤

@@SippyCupAdventures hey, thanks a lot for the quick reply. Great to hear that you're enjoying your stays in SF. I'm planning to fly in and use public transportation, ridesharing and a lot of walking. Have you been to areas like Alamo Square, Hayes Valley, Lower Haight, Haight-Ashbury, Golden Gate Park. Would you consider them safe to walk around? And would you walk there around 9-10pm?
@SippyCupAdventures

@@Jeff.Wilson We have been to all those places except Alamo Square. Hayes Valley is really safe at night, and very vibrant and eclectic. The Haight is just so unique and worth it. My assumption is that it is safe at night but we haven't visited at night, there. Golden Gate park is wonderful! It is very expansive and cannot be seen in a whole day. You could find some eBike/Scooter rentals that can get you around the city/park too. There has to be an app for that! Ride share to your destination, and then look up the bike/scooter rentals.
