Cameron, I say this with nothing but affection, because I totally get it: you make me laugh every time you say you don't want to risk damaging a book by actually reading it. :-)

Your shirt is incredible! Vintage Halloween style is my favorite. As a Louisianan, something about an author not from Louisiana using Katrina as a trauma tool in a book really rubs me the wrong way 😩 There are a lot of real horror stories from Katrina involving police and military abuse of citizens so it feels like a tone deaf story if you’re actually from here. Definitely want to see more horror set in Louisiana though because we’ve got a lot of spooky stuff to work with!! All of the vintage books look great but especially Babydoll looks so beautiful 😍

Beyond jealous of those vintage Zebra titles! Babydoll is a beast to find at a reasonable price, so that was a sweet deal. I’ve read The Curse, or about 150 pages worth, and sadly the cover is the best thing going for it. Awesome haul!

Two thumbs up for the mention of McKays. I’m there every other day. The problem is that since the advent of “Paperbacks From Hell,” the selection of Zebra/Pinnacle has taken a nosedive. They have a lot but it looks to be mostly stuff from the 2000’s at this point. Still, I’ll occasionally run across stuff like the first edition paperback of “I Am Legend.” Extra thumbs up for the mention of the movie “From a Whisper to a Scream.” That was filmed about 30 minutes away from me. If you have the Blu ray, my friend Daniel Griffith’s making of documentary is excellent. And finally, Samuel Key is a pseudonym for Charles de Lint. Key was his nom de plume for horror fiction.

I wish I could go to McKay’s…. Though I feel like if I go all the way there, they’ll be out of everything and I’ll walk away enjoy handed 🙃 A first edition paperback of I Am Legend though!! 🤯

I haven't read a lot of Richard Laymon, because I've always been averse to extreme horror, but I enjoyed The Traveling Vampire Show and would recommend it. I might actually pull that out and give that a re-read. He's also got several other Halloween-themed books that came out in the same time period as Vampire Show, so I'm interested in those. BTW, just finished Autumncrow and enjoyed that as well, especially "There Are Monsters Here." Great job!

Hey Cameron, I am about finished with the book: The Ripper Point Horror book. It's ok, but not scaring me. I want to bring to your attention two books I bought from Books-a-million. They are both young adult scholastic books that contain two Creepshow novels by Elley Cooper. The titles are The Taker and The Cursed. I want to also recommend the YA, Five Nights at Freddys books. There is a trilogy and a collection that runs for 10 books so far. Book 10 will be out this September. Hope you like these books, enjoy and stay scary. Take care.

So it is not just me posting many bookhauls 🤭 That Horror Gems book is amazing. Love the illustrations. I should read more scifi myself. Horror scifi is something I really enjoy. OOhhh Allhallow's Eve by Laymond. Hope you enjoy it! I like his disturbing stories. Not sure this one has enough Halloween for you. 🤣 The Amazon listing prices for vintage horror is like: sure let me quickly sell a kidney in the black market and come back Those vintage books you got in that package deal are AMAZING! So happy for you that you got them! 😍 Your happy face is everything Shame on people that put stickers on books specially in the cover like that. Blasphemy! Oh From a Whisper to a Scream sounds like my type of book 👀

Martin James is a pen name for James Kisner, who wrote quiet a few horror titles. R.R. Walters wrote a pretty decent book called Ladies In Waiting published by TOR. It's a fun read if you dig those old Night Gallery or Twilight Zone shows.

Hey, just wondering, I’m trying to get into the Fear Street films, post the films! Your collections is amazing! As you say you sometimes upgrade your copies to better or first editions…do you have any of your ‘lesser copies’ you would be willing to sell? I’m in the U.K. and these books are really rare and some are extremely expensive! It would be good to have someone to talk to about buying and selling and the where, why and how of it!

Hi Cameron I’m hoping you can remember the title because I can’t 😕 I read this fear street book a long time ago and it’s about these sisters and one of the sisters is called Julia and Hannah. (I think that’s there names) and they had 2 brothers I think and they were Simon and angeliancas kids. It’s not daughters of silence. I think there was a scene in the book where the daughters are cooking dinner (soup) and the daughter accidentally spills the soup and Simon yells at her. I think one of the brothers was called Edward?

What did you end up thinking about Laymon? I've seen All Hallow's Eve described as one of his worst books on account of it being a rushed-out version of a draft that he wrote before he became well-known as a writer.

Laymon's All Hallow's Eve is...not great. I'd recommend his Night in the Lonesome October to read for Halloween season. Seriously problematic depiction of a gay character aside, it IS great. One of my favorite books I've read in the past 10 years, in fact.

Check out my wrap up videos. Most of the books in those videos are books I received for review. I try to allow myself some pleasure reading every month, but the majority of the books I read and talk about are review books. Even during my Fear Street reading vlogs, I was listening to audiobooks I received for review to talk about in upcoming recommendation videos.
