Also, Cameron, to be a little serious, in a way I consider you a bit of an inspiration when it comes to reading full fledged novels. As a kid, I never really read all that much, but as I got into my mid to late twenties, I read more. Your enthusiasm for books and reading is just really dang cool and delightfully nerdy that it makes me want to read more.

Very impressive collection! I tried reading the first Fright Time book this year and I couldn't get into it - I did not like the writing at all, lol. And even though I didn't much care for the Shivers series, either, Waldo's Wax Museum is forever ingrained into memory - that book was bonkers. I will keep my eyes out for some of those Bone Chillers and Deadtime Stories books, I would like to try those! That's cool that Jacobus did so much artwork outside of Goosebumps, I had no idea about that - his illustrations are always fantastic, of course. I read a few of the Choose Your Own Nightmare books when I was younger but I remember thinking they weren't nearly as good as the GYG's ;) And a friend of mine sent me one of the Spinetinglers books recently... can't wait to read it. Awesome collection!

Honestly, I can appreciate a fan of Goosebumps who grew up on the series and became a author to some stories (of course with others from what I've researched inside the anthologies), which helps not only show genuine passion, they show a kind of understanding for the feeling, so I have good feelings for this channel, since I also grew up with the series, maybe not as much as I could, though I can appreciate the works made

My favorite KZbinr 🧡! Your channel is a treasured gem. The feelings I get of cozy sweater weather, Cool crisp autumn breezes engulf me as I experience your spooky content. What a fantastic collection you have. I grew up reading Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine. As well as many other obscure 90’s authors featured on your platform. A lot of underrated writers and stories i thought had been completely forgotten. Come to find out, there are thousands of us missing the magic of vintage YA books. The nostalgia I feel in your library inspires me to recreate my collection’s too!

Count me among those you've inspired to pick up some of these books. I actually started collecting them during the summer mostly because I kept seeing them pop up in your videos and also because I went through an intense period of 90s nostalgia. Have only read a few of them and the quality definitely varies but at worst they are harmless fun. Definitely need to get more of the Shivers books, though!

I've been hyped for this one. Gonna give notes on the ones I want to comment on. Phantom Valley: This actually predates Goosebumps, starting in 1991. The author also wrote a couple Ghosts of Fear Street books, and has ghostwritten one Tales to give you goosebumps story. I even interacted with her once. Shivers: This series is nuts and a big mixed bag. They can often be frankly. pretty and very empty so it's probably the weakest of these easily but one of the most interesting, and when it's good it is really good, wish MD Spenser wasn't a jerk IRL though as I found out this year lol. I've had Curse of the New Kid on my radar don't worry lol. I've read Pool Ghoul and uh, spoilers but it's basically a Captain Planet episode disguised as a horror book. I read a recap of Creepy Clothes and it's supposed of the really good and dark/deep ones so I think you are remembering wrong when you said "don't expect anything dark". Spooksville; Yes, this was the big one I'm into. I did a whole thing on the series on my blog last year, it was a big deep dive that was fun to do. It's a solid fun series with good characters. Bone Chillers: Hell yeah. These are always wild and fun. Not always the most consistent sadly, but they are usually good. I enjoyed the TV show as well. Frankenturkey is a classic. Glad you mentioned the ghostwriters, it's been found Shivers had some too...and of course no doubt Stine had them too lol, even mentioned one case already. Tim did all of the covers, and fun fact: there's no credited ghostwriter for Dog ate my homework. Graveyard: Someone I follow is a big fan of this series, it's their favorite. So far I like them, but they haven't fully lived up to the hype. The characters could be better, even that that's the aspect that gets praise. Otherwise, good fun with some solid twists. I like them being set in the same place, with characters popping up again. Spinechillers: Only read one and it was not good, I imagine the rest are the same. That said, I interacted with the author once and he was cool. I can't believe I respect him more than MD Spenser. There's actually another Christian one called Heebie Jeebies, but the one I read was surprisingly good. Deadtime Stories: Not counting Spinechillers, I'd call it my personal least favorite. They're usually fine but nothing too special, a bit less wild/dark than some of these others. AG Cascone did some Ghosts of Fear Street as well and likely did some Tales too. Tim only did like 3, most were Broeck Steadman, who did the Ghosts covers. Shadow Zone; I watched the Undead Express movie but that's it. It was okay. Spinetinglers: I've been getting into this one. The ones I read have been pretty solid, can get dark and a bit deeper, with one having one of the best twists I've seen in these. The authors were allowed to do their own thing which shows, usually in a good way but not always. Choose Your Own Nightmares: Haven't read one yet but I watched parts of the PC games and they are wild. One ending in How I Became a Freak is one of the most shockingly dark things ever. Modern Throwbacks: I've read from a fair bit of these, Monsterstreet has been very solid, Fright Vision is shaping to my favorite, I've also read a couple Spineshivers and one from Twisted Books which was pretty good. One I'd suggest is Creepover, I read one and was pleasntly surprised. Bailey School Kids; I used to be into these back in the day, no idea how they hold up hear but they were still fun. I love the joke of how the covers are just kids gawking at gay people. Debbie Dadey actually follows me on Twitter. Are you afraid of the dark; I read one, tale of the bad tempered ghost and it was decent, decent fan of the series of course. Strange Matter: Pretty into these, often dark and solid, and another one set in the same place. Strange Force is really good too. Whew.

I've never seen anyone else mention Fright Time books! I really dug the style of those covers as a kid, that's what drew me to them at first. Shivers is another I've seen mentioned maybe one other time. It's really nice to see these lesser known series getting talked about! Deadtime Stories! I remember distinctly buying a few of those books when I was young. Not as good imo, but still some quick fun. I always liked that skeleton at the top.

The Curse of the New Kid freaked me the frak out when I was a kid. I enjoyed the Shivers series, and found they were in general a lot darker than the Goosebumps books for sure, but you're absolutely right, The Curse of the New Kid took it to a way darker place. I freaking love it.

Thank you for sharing your collection! I have never seen some of these but I adored Bone Chillers and Deadtime Stories growing up. I'm actually planning to re-read some Bone Chillers next year (and some I never had as a kid). Little Pet Shop of Horrors & Strange Brew were my favorites. I admit I bought Terror in Tiny Town because the doll on the cover definitely looked like Chucky, who I was obsessed with as a kid (I'm sure that was perfectly normal...haha!). I'm sad the Bone Chillers show didn't catch on. I remember those weird rip-offs called Gooseflumps or something featuring bad dairy and dog poop as well. If you have trouble finding the 2nd Bone Chillers, let me know. I just saw a copy at my local thrift store and would be happy to check for you if you want to swap or something.
