The reason that Caillou episodes actually have that white border is because they are all retellings of past stories. They are all being told by an older version of Caillou’s sister who is now a grandmother reading the stories to her grandchildren.

The curious george racist allegory one is honestly extremely uncomfortable to me, bc monkeys are naturally extremely curious and mischevious creatures, I think it's more racist to assume it's abt black people bc a common racist depiction/charicature of black ppl are showing them as monkies, I think whoever made the theory is thinking way too hard abt it

When it comes to voice acting, talent should be just as if not more important than when it comes to whoever is voicing the character. Obvious statement, but whether a white person is voicing a black character or the other way around, the talent of said individual should matter. If you ask me, people getting mad and trying to ban someone for voicing a different skinned character because said voice actor is not the same color is racist itself. Not to mention it’s throwing a stereotype on how certain individuals should sound. Like blacks all having the urban accent(Which of course not all do).

Im black but that whole situation was fucking stupid. Im so sick and tired of people getting offended by a fucking voice actor. It doesn’t matter.

I can really see where you're coming from, however I can also understand why when a character who's supposed to represent a certain group/minority isn't even voiced by a person who's part of that group/minority, it can come across as tone deaf. That being said I'm absolutely against harrassing the voice actor, that's a mob mentality and just stupid.
@shawnnesbit73142 жыл бұрын
Well youre wrong. Whites voicing blacks is no different from black face. Also there are enough people of a race/ethnicity in the acting and VA field that there is NO excuse for hiring people of different races to portray other creeds. Other than being lazy like youre saying.

So I actually had 3 interesting experiences with PBS Kids. I remember Evil Elmo being a thing, the time I heard a rumor about a banned Barney the Dinosaur episode where he cussed a lot, and the one time I once typed "PBS Kids in the future" for some reason, and there was a text-to-speech video saying "You're watching PBS Kids." What's weird is that I remember there being a recommended video of a fan animated Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode, like I think it was Treehouse of Horror 50 or something. Pre-2010 KZbin was a weird time.
@nicholaslienandjaja18152 жыл бұрын
BTW, here's a list of playground rumors regarding Barney: He once cussed at a kid who stepped on his tail. He is actually a child molester/predator. He kills little kids out of his costume. He hides cocaine/heroin/LSD in his tail. He once made an episode singing about "a stranger being a friend you haven't met", and parents got very angry at PBS because this was obviously a terrible message for kids. Alternatively, there were alleged reports of kidnappings due to Barney singing this. Barney is a CUTE PURPLE DINOSAUR. Replace all U's with V's, get rid of all letters not in the Roman numerals, and add them all up, and you get 666, the Number of the Beast. This is a very popular rumor among Sunday school students, especially the extremely religious ones. Several Barney merch had to be recalled because they are actually toxic (there is some truth to this as there have been Barney tote bags that were recalled due to being proven to contain lead in its paint).

My childhood version of the Barney hate song was: I hate you, you hate me, let’s team up and kill Barney! With a bang bang bang, Barneys on the floor, no more purple dinosaur!

My version: I love you, You love me, I saw Godzilla kill Barney! With a fire breath and a smack from his tail, This dinosaur shall sing no more!

Yeah maybe you could help me clear something up, a long while back at the start of 2021 maybe by the tail end of 2020 I got a news article that said that Arthur was actually leaving the PBS kids Network sometime within 2022. Honestly it's going to be hard to see it go considering it's been on the PBS kids Network for ages but all good things must come to an end I guess. I had a lot of people tell me that the later Arthur seasons have kind of started a trend of seasonal rod anyway especially with episodes like the bleep and Arthur's Big Hit.

As a former logo editor, I remember those PBS Kids Demonic Dash videos, which to this I remember that I used to watch them all the time back then. The community was also editing the Klasky Csupo logo (specifically the splaat version) which people edited more than the PBS Kids Dash logo which also gained millions of views and to this day, people are still making these types of videos. I've quit the logo editing community since around 2018 because I thought it got really boring and cringe to make, so...

I love PBS, thank you for covering this iceberg, a lot of these shows/and or games shaped me as a kid, as I didn’t have cable growing up. I don’t see many people talking about this niche topic !! 💓

The creepy dash stuff or the 'pbs kids intro effects' , my brother used to watch that stuff, i didn't understand what was so interesting to my 3 year old brother about the pbs kid logo in a different effect, my baby cousin also watches these videos and they GENUINELY sit there and watch the videos fully and over and over . It's kinda creepy lol
