@@always_maraudersit has kind of a slow build up (I’ll probably get into a long-ish discussion on detail but in short I enjoyed it, I just have some critiques is all) Ok more in detail now 1: The main character, (Bel / Annabel) is very prickly, if you read A good girls guide to murder and loved the fact that the main character(s) were more charming then you may hate Bel but I think she makes so much sense being the way she is (doesn’t excuse her treating people kinda like shit) but I found her interesting 2: the pacing, I discovered I have rather liked “slower paced” books (example : The Stolen heir by Holly black) and I liked that this book took time showing how Bel thinks and interacts with people around her but it does take like 60 pages for the actual mystery aspect to really get in motion (I didn’t mind but I can definitely see why so many people would) 3: The ending, my biggest critique honestly, we had so much build up and time for I feel a neater less…off the rails ending? (I tend to describe Holly Jackson’s ending that way) It felt so out of place and kind of jarring in my opinion in comparison to the rest of the book, and there were definitely some too convenient moments for me (a few predictable plot twists but that didn’t bother me) but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t thoroughly enjoying myself when I read it
