Hi Hailey! A good figure skating book is On Top of Glass by Karina Manta, she’s my favorite ice dancer and it’s all about her story and experiences being a queer figure skater. It just came out last year 😁

I just finished a book about trolls as well. It's Frostfire by Amanda Hocking it also takes place in Canada so I actually thought about Hailey when I read it😅 I really enjoyed it

I read The Other Side of Perfect and enjoyed it. It is mostly centered around the Nutcracker ballet so it is somewhat Christmas-y, but it was a good winter read!

I really was excited by the prospect of Gilt but then found out it paints Katherine out in an unsympathetic manner which kinda sucks. I also think it describes her interactions with Dereham (maybe even Mannox, Henry and Culpepper) as fully consensual which it wasn't. I'd be interested to see your thoughts on it though.

"Neek-uhlai" is the Russian pronunciation and the name IS of Russian origin... plus the character Nikolai is from a country based on Russia so it should technically be pronounced "Neek-uhlai" but "Nick-uhlai" is the American pronunciation, and, knowing lots of Russian Americans (including myself), I can say that "Nick-uhlai" is the way I have heard Russian Americans pronounce it. Sooooo... do with this what you may, Hailey, lol. You're correct both ways.

I hated Leviathan, dnf straight into the wall. It was so hyped by so many people when I picked it up, yet none of them mentioned the way the whole plot was based around the mutilation and abuse of fantasy animals. Portrayed like the reader is supposed to find it cool. I guess some people can suspend disbelief, but I work with animals and I found it absolutely disgusting. Another reason why I don't buy books off hype anymore...
