the commitment to braids and a blue and white pinstripe shirt while reading the wizard of oz is just ... chef's kiss. also, puberty blues was turned into a really successful tv show in Australia in the 2010s!

It’s amazing how you can maintain these clips over time, and keep a cohesive storyline in the final production. Enjoyed your perspective on each of the reads, as well as the process.

As a bookish 9 yr old, I was obsessed with all of the OZ books. Thankfully, our local library had all of them. When I ran out of all of the OZ books, I moved onto Kipling and fixated on Kim!

My favorite thing about Barbie was how my husband could relate to Ken just as much as I could to Barbie at times. And the fact that it made me heal the teenage part of me that was embarrassed and stopped playing with Barbies. And the fact that he and I can continually have conversations about the themes months after watching it.

don’t feel bad about not liking self help. i have a psych masters degree and want to appreciate self help more but they almost always produce an adverse reaction from me. 😂 i will almost never read them. i think i often find them condescending and/or unrealistic. especially depending on who wrote it and what their credentials are.

I really needed the positive and calming vibes of your videos! After the day I had I just wanna say: to anyone who's ever been a victim of hate / violence because of their appearance, gender, orientation, race : DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred and compulsive anxieties later on. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: maybe if I was like everyone else I would be accepted. No, haters will always find something else to prey upon. I've always had androgynous look, which was a real fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games :) All the best.

10/10 would recommend The Orchard by Adele Crockett Robertson for a memoir. It’s about a woman in the 1930s trying to keep her Apple orchard business in business and it was very interesting, inspiring, her determination and confidence was amazing. Seems like it gives off similar vibes to Man and Horse lol

Loved this video & appreciate all the work you put into it! I might have to check out the horse book, it sounds interesting. I read Reviving Ophelia in the 90's when I was a teen and it was a book that has stayed with me - in that same vein I wonder if you have read "Queen bees and wannabees" which actually inspired the movie mean girls, the book is not without issue - I read it when it came out in the early 2000's, and by that point I was out of school but I remember recognizing a lot of stuff from it from my own adolescence.

I never relate to the therapist talk around girls. I felt more scared, boxed in, and self conscious as a kid and in my teens. The whole Oz series are some of my favorite books of all time and to be honest I'd say that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is one of the least interesting. I do enjoy the reasoning behind how the characters came to be and I always thought they wore the goggles because the Emerald city is all a façade just like the Wizard really is but it does make sense how they changed it for the movie...just like the silver to red shoe switch.
