Thanks for making Houdini less scary, this series is really easy to follow and the content is so useful. I like how they are of a manageable length in time and you get the important points across. Awesome content. Cheers mate.

Hi. I was wondering why do we use SDF Difference and not Subtract in the VDB Combine node so I tried setting it to Subtract and it looks awful. Why is that? Thanks!
@adamglass25993 жыл бұрын
For those following along in later Houdini versions, this can be done with the boolean operator without VDBs. Make sure your objects are polygons not primitives. I haven't explored getting the smooth right if you stay in polygons.

I do like VDB's though more smooth. Also there's magnetize using metaballs, but need dense polygon grid for that.

Hi Moritz Yesterday I started with Houdini for the first time thanks to your wonderful tutorials. Thanks for that! I have a question here ... Once I have the geometry, how can I apply a different material to the small balls and the big one?
@Entagma4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frederico, use two material nodes which you attach to your respective geo streams in your SOPs. Make sure no material is applied on the obj level. Cheers, Mo

@@Entagma Oh thanks! that's damn simple!

in houdini 18 there is no copy node !
@ulriktnnesen59873 жыл бұрын
I'm not knowledgeable enough to be certain, only had Houdini for a week :P But I think you can use the Scatter node together with the Copy to Points node.
