The author's explanation is very simple and easy to understand. I think that to understand curl noise, we must first understand what the curl function is, so that we know why we use vdb nodes. I am a novice, this is my personal opinion

I am impressed by your choice of software, the tutorial was uploaded almost in Jan 2020 and yet you use a decade old version. I dont even know if the same method still works or if there is a more efficient way for it.

I am impressed by your conclusion. :) This tut's been on Vimeo for quite a while. Just reupped to KZbin. Cheers, Mo

Some of my trails are shooting out of frame away from my geometry, any idea on how to fix this? I adjusted the amplitude and surface affect radius
@stephenhalker22664 жыл бұрын
I think it you mess with the curl noise settings it might help fix that. I found that when I cranked up the Surface Effect Radius to 2 or 4 or even 10-20 it had a huge effect on the "stickiness" of the points to the geometry.

Go into your solver node. On the vdbadvectpoints that you copied in, enter without the brackets this --> (@name="vel"), into the Velocity VDB text field.

Is it possible to emit particles from a selected group of points from the scatter node? (using groupbylasso) But still follow the shape of the geometry after the initual birth. thanks!
@Entagma3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, yes it is - just select only the point group you'd like to advect in your VDB Advect Points node. Cheers, Mo

what's the benefit of doing this vdb method, versus just doing a geo then a popnet then a trail? Is it just smoother?

Hey guys, does anyone know the process of exporting the trail in alembic to 3dsmax so that I can get splines?

What is the secret ingredient for the form in the intro picture, I tried mixing another type of noise together to achieve something like that but it didn`t do as I expected and then tried to increase the particle amount, again didn't work, could you help? :)

Yes, that's defnitely possible. Cheers, Mo
