This week is part two of my Hocus Pocus, Winifred Sanderson Cosplay build, for her spell book. There are going to be a few videos for this one because there was a LOT to go into it and I didn't want to make this one super long video.

Crayola air dry clay does crack. Use air dry paper clay..(fibers). Made a "Book" myself. Used Sculpey air dry..great!. Used DT Shamir's for the skin..and sewed the book with thin burlap type thread. Came out great! Good luck in all you do!

Maybe plastic clay wouldn't crack? I don't know what brands you have there, but I mean like Sculpey, Cernit, Fimo and similar clays. Or cold porcelain? (Just suggestions, I haven't made the book myself so I might be wrong).

Hi Ni An, Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the suggestions for a different type of clay. I don't play with air dry clay all that much since moving to a climate that has a relative humidity of 80% on average, so it is still a learning curve as I get used to these new factors to consider.

I will say, I did play with it, and found that getting the wholes to stay open while the clay is drying didn't go so well, they sort of collapse in on themselves. I would love to hear back if you have a different experience .

Why do hobbyist count dry time as hours in? Or did it really take you 20 hours to shape air dry clay and glue it on? I ask because I've never tried something like that so I don't know.

It is a valid question! some do count dry time as part of the time in. However with this one, it is actual work time. I actively worked on it for about 4 hours a day over the course of 5 days, allowing the drying to happen over night. Hope that helps!
