Holy crap! After watching this vid I am inspired to develop a FIVE port boost controller. Four to control the turbo, and a fifth one so I can run a hose up my a** and learn to talk that fast! Amazing informative video. Liked and subscribed!

Awesome video with very useful information Kenny. Can you do a video over electronic boost controllers (mac style) and how they work? I'm running a mac boost controller using pwm on the s300, unknown spring in an old style 4 bolt tial wastegate using bbg but setup at a rich and I mean rich 14 psi map. Reason I asked is so I can understand how they are setup to make the most out of my bbg setup for different race applications.

This is a very well thought out video and very informative. I'm trying to do something with a waste gate that I really can't find much information online about because well it's a bit.. well over the top. I have a 17 Mustang GT with a centrifugal supercharger so it doesn't see peak boost until redline. So for easy maths sake let's say I make 10psi at 10k rpm. I was thinking I could run a smaller pulley, maybe one that's good for 20psi at 10k rpm and install a waste gate to regulate it at 10psi so ultimately I'll reach peak boost in half the time. But I also want to install a boost controller so I can run E85 and push more boost. I'm not exactly sure how I would go about implementing a waste gate to a supercharger. Would it be as simple as putting the waste gate on the charge pipe before the airflow sensor? I have been putting a lot of thought into this but there isn't much information out there about waste gates and superchargers haha I look forward to hearing back from you when you get the chance.

I was wondering, if I’m running 10 psi would it be better to run it off of the spring solely, or a 3 or 4 port set to 10 psi in conjunction with the spring? Does it creep up to 10 psi off the spring only or does it slam open like a 3 and 4 port?

Can a controller DISABLE BOOST? Can you have boost only ON DEMAND? I have to replace the engine of my Subaru Forester. They offer me 2.5XT and JDM STi engines but I simply dislike the turbo "kick". I would love to install an engine, run it as NA and only apply the boost on demand, like a turbo "button" or switch (now following OEM boost levels) without damaging any components. Possible?

Thank you for sharing your informative video. I own a 2012 BMW X5 with an N55 engine, and I’ve been experiencing some issues lately. Recently, I observed that the boost solenoid was energized even at idle. Could you please advise if this is normal behavior?
@humbleperformance3 ай бұрын
Normal. Boost solenoid will always see 12v on one side. The ecu controls the ground side for pulsing
@cruzfernandez45543 ай бұрын
@@humbleperformance It consistently activates at idle, resulting in positive pressure through the charge pipe.

Clear as mud. Can you explain why we want the wastegate to only see 5psi when the turbo is giving off 8psi?
@smokeandmirrors-pk6ic5 ай бұрын
To run more boost in short. If you want to run 10 psi but your wastegate only has a 5psi spring you use a controller to increase psi. Or if you have a 15 psi spring wastegate you can turn down the controller to only let engine see 10 psi eaither way it’s useful

I have the innovative scg1 boost controller. It come with a 3 port boost controller. I have a 38mm tial wastegate on 4 ibs spring I think. My tuner said im boosting 10 all across according to hondata datalog but boost gauge said I'm only boosting 3-4 pounds. Is this sign of boost control solenoid failure?
@Angel-gw2bb6 жыл бұрын
510kali usually when boost selenoid fail it’ll go to spring pressure, you should be hitting 4psi . It maybe your boost guage getting reading from an inconsistent boost source
@510kali6 жыл бұрын
Angel Pabon thanks for replying. I'm so confused. Just got my car tuned. Tuner said I was at 10psi but making only 200whp on a gsr .I was like whatt...then on the way home. I WOT and noticed I'm only boosting 3ibs. I dont know how is hondata is getting 10ibs and tuner wasn't familiar with the innovative scg1
@510kali6 жыл бұрын
The scg1 comes with 3port BC and it's own 4bar map. It's also an AFR gauge as well. Everything is wired up correctly (vacuum lines etc) .
@Angel-gw2bb6 жыл бұрын
if you are able to, switch to hondata 4 bar map sensor. it could be that either the selenoid or the map is faulted. there is a reason why your tuner is not familiar with that as i am not also. get a hondata (mac) 3 port or a 4 port selenoid along with the hondata 4 bar map.especially if you are running hondata s300. if you have it all correctly wired (boost controll wired to the correct ecu pin) it should be getting pulsewidth signal to boost control. map is what the ecu will determine how much fuel to burn. 99% of honda tuners are familiar with hondata boost selenoids and map sensors. (running both on my turbo k20z3).
@510kali6 жыл бұрын
Angel Pabon yeah the innovative scg1 comes with a MAC 3 port but its wired straight to the gauge for boost control. Check out the scg1 on Google. I was thinking about wiring the BC to ecu pinot. I think it's ecu a11 (93 civic). I have an omni 3 barmap
@Jamxknife6 жыл бұрын
What if you connect the 3 port to the top of the wastegate
@humbleperformance6 жыл бұрын
You can do it but it’s not nearly as effective. The 4 port used the vent to divert pressure away from the diaphragm and reinforce the spring. A 3 port would still be applying all The boost to the diaphragm.
@renizer4 жыл бұрын
@@humbleperformance and how about using a 3 port on a 1 port WG can like the turbododges or SyTy do it afaik?
@Greekspd4 жыл бұрын
I think this explanation leaves out 3-port boost solenoids that controlled boost via the top port rather than the bottom port.

and 3 port boost solenoids with a 1 port WG?
