Cam selection will make a huge difference to a blower. You should always see high peak power with a turbo though and better low down with blower. Since I am a homeless fuck who lives under a bridge I can afford neither.

The supercharged setup made 1470nm the turbo setup made 2100nm. Maybe you mixed up the torque and power curve wrong on the first dyno sheet?

im with you brother, but you also need to point out their power delivery is totally different aswell, yeah turbo's make big numbers but mostly only at top end, S/C make not so bigger numbers all across the board but with the pitfall of parasitic drag on the motor, unless you run Centrifugal (Rotrex are a good example) which reaches T/C'er speeds with not as much parasitic drag as what a roots style S/C does!

Yep, nobody ever does legitimate tests between turbo and SC. Would have to be the same exact cars. One turbo and one SC were both charger displaced the same amount of air, same boost, same intercooler, etc. For anybody to really say this is better in this situation than this. And it always depends on the application, turbo may have higher peak numbers(doesnt mean better) but a narrow power band, small only useful at low rpm, big usefull at high rpm and have to deal with lag. SC increases your torque through the whole rpm band until higher rpm when it can no longer flow enough air if its a small displacement but, it uses torque to run the charger and robs some from the engine.

The SC setup had aircleaner attached.. turbo not. I wont run a turbo without an air cleaner on my cars on a street but they do kill efficiency and power.

Only thickos use superchargers cost more,lots of moving parts less power and efficeincy and a fixed boost rate whether turbos are the opposite and you can vary boost to eliminate nearly all lag over the whole rev range,7-12-15-25psi on a switch off rev meter or manually done.

Why did you switch to the T400 if you made shit loads more power with the manual box? Only asking because, I prefer manual over auto every day of the week :p Was it purely because the T400 can withstand the power and torque shit loads better than any manual trans? With that much torque, I'm guessing you would eat most manual boxes on the first hard launch ;)

Turbos always have lag, or do you no understand the fundamentals of turbos, specially on a turbo that big you will have to wait till about 3000+rpm for it to start generating pressure, but if he running it as an early boost setup it would then top out boost at like 4000 to 5000 rpm, but you didn't also hear what he said "its a big turbo, its not really a comparison to the supercharger" so that said, its like saying a 6cyl has more power than a 4cyl, its not a fair comparison

It's not that the turbo makes more power at same pressure ratio, it's that the turbo (and it's housing) is wayy more efficient than the supercharger and therefore pushes more air,less heat, which turns into more torque and power and area under the curve.

Everyone's always comparing turbo engines to V8s. Why not just turbo a V8? Vid helps to prove just how much a good idea this is. A much smaller turbo would be able to make the same if not a little bit more than the supercharger, and the thing would be damn close to spooling at idle.

I really find those torque numbers to be really confusing. Stock motor makes 530 Nm of torque, supercharged version makes 1470 Nm with just cam and supercharger and turbo version making 2142 Nm with 11 PSI boost... Im thinking this isnt correct

+jay fagan O2 sensors don't actually measure AFR. They measure "Lambda". What that means is, an O2 sensor will output the same voltage (signal) for 9:1 afr with Ethanol (lambda 1.0) and 14.7:1 afr with petrol (lambda 1.0). And then the manufacturer references those voltages to AFR's for a particular fuel.

I would normally agree, BUT they put a 3500 converter in it, that's takes out lag, you don't need to do that with a supercharged engine!!!!!! he should of left a standard converter in and then you would see the lag.....

Auto takes away the some of the feel of driving in my opinion :/ If they make more on the dyno, then they will have a higher top speed.. I reckon if you had the experience. You could get the manual box down a 1/4 mile at the same time/speed as the T400.. Not saying you're a bad driver, you've just got that room for driver error.. Or sloppy shifts. But, day to day.. I would keep the manual box haha. Just my preference.

Man, i've seen the Engines the Veyrons uses. They're ridicoulous and insane. They're W16 - Cylinder Engines Four Turbos and 1001 HP, though that's only the Normal Veyrons Power. We take a look at the Buggati Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition which almost has 1,200 Horsepower. And a Record for speed (Almost) the 269,720 mph Buggati Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition, and also one of the fastest Launch cars in the world. 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just a staggering 2.5 seconds. Almost the fastest car in the world. But a Record (in my opinion) the coolest Engine ever.

The more turbochargers you have the same amount of power you'll get... It doesn't matter how many turbos it has. The only diff is that they spool up WAY faster than one turbo so in the beggining the Qaud - Turbo will be faster.

Blaize K-H In a centrifugal supercharger application yes, you need high revs to achieve peak boost, but with a positive displacement supercharger, as in this video, peak boost is achieved at extremely low engine rpm so you have near-instant response.

Not so much so that it would make THAT kind of a difference, jesus. At most the LS1 setup might have ~18% drivetrain loss compared to maybe ~22% here. To be fair though, any LS1 is going to be more capable than that L98. I don't know why people think trucks are good performance platforms though..

ever fitted a supercharger to something not designed for it? A turbo bolts to your exhaust and has a pipe to your inlet with oil feed and return. For more boost just punch the number into the greddy boost controller

Aussie car & gaming nut It still is a street car that left the factory with a 6 speed and now has a 3 speed T400. you can buy or build these GM 6 speed autos to withstand this power level. One reason for the T400 may be cost. You can buy a near indestructable T400 for a whole heap less than a fully build GM 6 speed auto.

Torque on a chassis dyno is tractive effort, different to engine torque measured on an engine dyno. Tractive effort will always read higher than engine torque. Your friend's car that runs 9.4s making 900Nm is extremely low.
