Still a bit sick but man, words cannot describe how big of a blow this is for me personally

Maybe I've just been burned a few too many times from group projects, but I wouldn't trust randos with help working on a game you want to consider your own. It would become their game just as much as yours, and that can be messy. You can do VR stuff in Unity, right? What I would suggest is coming up with as much overlap between BoostBoy and this VR game as possible. Things like menu navigation, options, systems for loading and unloading assets, etc. Try and create a generalized scaffolding that you'll build this VR game off of that you can also carry over to BoostBoy to have a solid head start on that.

You shouldn't feel discouraged! It would seem that the longer games spend in development, the better they are! No one puts a good game out immediately. For example, the Binding of Isaac and Spelunky both were initially created by single developers who made base demo and attracted a lot of attention... And money! But for both of these unique gems, their developers worked hard on them in their free time away from their full-time jobs and classes. Only over several years did they become tangible and now there are multiple sequels to them!

I think the industry is trying to push VR down people's throats too hard. Sometimes we just want to make standard, TV/computer screen games. Now, unversity courses expecing people to work with VR even in a course that is not (necessarily) about it? Come on.
