Boosted Locations in the Mobile Helium Network

As an update to this post, those boosts have caused today a drop of 22K for me, or about $66. Ouch.
Can you really get 100x rewards from a boosted location? Will this drastically drop proof of coverage rewards for everyone else? Has anyone gotten boosted rewards? Let's do a quick search in the planner.

Same, roughly 15% drop today for my outdoor wifi hotspot. I was looking at getting a CBRS setup with 2 430s but with all the new HIPS and reductions, don't see the value in spending 3k on it right now. Long term believer in the project but I am also in it to make some money. Edit: Did some more digging around. The rewards reductions was from the boosting hexes being activated but more in line with the fact that Nova was previously paying those boosted rewards and as of last night they are now coming from the community reward pool. This was ~12 million mobile a day which resulted in the ~15% reduction in rewards.

I see they have a bundle on Helium Deploy that has a the directional antenna w/4 connections. Is it better to use the 18 dbi because it is omnidirectional, and do you need 4 18 dbi's?

I’m not really familiar with their bundle so I can’t say. I chose mine based off the planner but now with HIP-103 the planner doesn’t give the right information so I wouldn’t trust it.

I started with the outdoor miner around the same time you did. That's actually how i found your videos. It's currently getting about 5k per day. Guessing a bump with HIP 101, once its implemented? Thanks for all the work you do, its hard to get info outside of discord.

Curious to see what folks are doing for the indoor Wi-Fi hotspots in the boosted locations, as far as strategy goes. Are THEY the business owners? Or, are they average jane/joes that are cutting deals with the owners.

From Miami here. Unfortunately don’t have any friends or family in boosted locations. They really made sure these locations were in parks and shopping centers. I have one boosted location in a shopping center less than a mile away but it’s too far from me to install any antennas. It’s tough man!

My cbrs 430 is having upload speed issues which is causing me massive rewards. I had my ISP come out update router check speeds which are all confirmed very good. My outdoor is reading very good speeds & giving me full rewards. Support from Freedomfi has admitted its having issues with CBRS & freedfi reading proper speeds. Question is how are they going to make up the lost rewards I have missed out on due to their technical issues.

Check your router and make sure it's not auto negotiating to the wrong speed. I had an issue for a whole week with 90 - 95 download speed, come to find out the router was auto negotiating at 100 megs, had to turn it off and set it to 1000, haven't had an issue since.

The coverage map explorer numbers are not always accurate. I'll oftentimes find the devices on the coverage explorer, copy the hotspot's name, then check it on the Moken explorer. Also, for this particular example, I'm seeing around 80 devices in that one hex, so it's very likely they're all getting slashed rewards, no? Side-note: Once MXC and the rewards start for the weather mining, could you do another setup guide for the wallet side of things?

Should get into some ASICs, hard drive rigs and gpu rigs as well then if you take up the rest of your roof with solar panels connected to a grid tied inverter you will have created your own DePin, a solar DePin

Its interesting but the boosted zones need to be determineld via other means than discovery mapping. Many potential zones would be great for boosting but have no one using HM in them. So incentives to create HM users would help deployers if other zones could be established without mobile mapping.

CBRS does transfer data - but you might have “unrewarded traffic” turned off… which would make it not, because CBRS is currently unrewarded
