The damaged cable from last video looks like the Etherloop cable, this is the new controller wiring harness for the new 48V platform replacing the old CAN bus architecture. This could affect steer by wire components, so it’s best to see if you can replace this damaged cable. Great project! Good luck 😊

Nightmare vehicle, nightmare auto drive. Utterly unreliable, dangerous, poorly built and downright ugly, Self driving? If you don’t want to operate a vehicle, ride the bus. How long with it take for hackers to come up with ways to hack cybertruck operations? What happens when it’s self driving and develops a glitch? Wanting to be dependant on a computer when you’re moving at 60 miles an hour encased in 6,000 lbs of rusting steel seems like a truly ridiculous and naive notion.
@DEEBIZ_Ай бұрын
Not sure if you figured it out, but I’m writing this as I’m watching. I work at a collision center, and usually with the other models, if the inner tie rod is bent you have to replace the steering rack. My guess is that because the cybertruck is a steer by wire and probably uses all sensors, there might be like a “inertia switch” sensor of some sort, it might have tripped that sensor and calls for a replacement. Hopefully this helps!

The steering in the rear was damaged, and the doors were removed and shoved into the vehicle, and may have damaged the centerline Power over Ethernet cable going to the rear Electric steering control module. The from and rear steering use 48 Volts to operate, and there is a calibration issue with the steering wheel. The steering wheel is not mechanically connected to the front and rear wheels, as this is a true Dual Redundant, tribunal consensus, sensor input steering column connected only by Ethernet Communications, which also controls all the other functions of the vehicle, like fans for the cabin, fans for the cooling system, headlights and rear taillights/Marker lights, the Bed rolltop Metal cover, the brakes, power windows, door locks, speakers and amplifiers to the entertainment center/computer, ABS, the Ethernet is a full token ring when operating normally, with each module having two input/output connections with power, if any module has one of it’s connection shorted or opened, it should be able to get to the vital data it needs to function from the other route, while lighting up warning messages about the dead path. Perhaps a module pc board has a crack from the G Forces from the impact! That is what I suspect is wrong with that steering.

This. Working on something like this is more akin to working on an industrial automation network. Which means, check all the basics first: Verify that the entire network has both power and comms, and fix any hardware related fault messages (dead circuits). This problem didn't happen randomly, the vehicle was involved in an accident, most cars aren't drivable after an accident. Lots of modern cars including ICE vehicles have limp modes when issues occur, for the safety of the passengers and the vehicle. Its designed to allow you to get out of potential harms way(off the interstate, or into a parking lot) without causing more harm. In the old days before computers you might not realize your engine has an issue until pieces of it are scattered across the road and your car is completely dead in the middle of the road.

Same is true of ICE cars at this point. Most of the gas or diesel engine is computer controlled. Showing how FSD works is nothing new for us who have been using FSD for a long time. FSD gets OTA improvements every so often, it will prompt you to get your hands on the steering wheel if it senses you're not doing so. It is nothing like what you're showing on your video. If you keep your hands off the steering wheel for a prolonged period of time after a while it will disconnect you from FSD and you may have to wait at least a week before you can get your FSD function back same as if you're driving carelessly such as doing extreme braking or driving maneuvers. FSD is a wonderful feature when you are on the open highway and makes for a very relaxing long distance driving experience plus it makes sure you don't miss an exit where the supercharger is when you have it programmed for the next supercharger. Long road trips are awesome with FSD on the other hand the system is still learning when FSD on city streets or parking lots. Like I already mentioned I have enjoyed using FSD immensely since I got my Model Y with that option I ordered because I believed in the technology when I bought my car. Since then I understand you can also buy a monthly subscription to FSD if necessary if you don't want to pay the $15,000 for the option when you order a new car fromTesla. Enjoy FSD!

Hi BoostedBoyz, I was catching up on your latest video and there is a secret feature that I am confident is also on your Cybertruck. As all models of Tesla’s that dont have the stick shifter, have a manual override above the Hazzard button, above the rear view mirror. I was playing with a Model X to answer some questions I had that the member of staff had no answer to, so I got playing and was curious about what looked like a membrane switch above the rear view mirror. Pushing it for a second, revealed a hidden gear selector, for P, D, N, R. So you could use that instead of the screen. Given the drama your having and I don’t think your aware of that feature. It might help you with your future recoveries, getting the vehicles into Neutral. I’m Phattgreg on x.

Here in Minnesota, some drivers are uncomfortably nice. For example, you come to a four way stop, guy on your right gets there before you do. (Like full car length before). They will sit there and wave you through the intersection, even though they have the right-of-way. Drives me nuts! I would be very interested to know how the Tesla fully self driving handles these things. Another one is people not knowing how roundabouts are suppose to work, and stop in the circle to let you pull in. Again, would be fun to test Tesla's self-driving ability against stupid drivers!

If the model x windshield is intact sell it. They go for like 6k if you want it replaced. It may recover some funds just don't break it lol. Also if you toggle the right scroll wheel you can make it speed. Roll it up and you can set the speed. I only figured this out when mine expired lol.

So you paid $160 to have Tesla Service Mode Plus... completely disable your truck? What a bargain, what a service!?

As someone that used to work with diagnostics, its interesting the Tesla have moved to DoIP.

Kyle, your experiences with damaged Teslas is a great educational lesson for the driving g public. It doesn’t take a serious accident to total electric cars. Thank God car manufacturers are developing technologies that make us dependent on China for batteries. Toyota has developed hydrogen solutions including a vehicle that separate the hydrogen from the oxygen and use water to fuel internal combustion engines with totally clean emissions with water vapor coming out of the tailpipe. There are several technologies that are using hydrogen for fueling cars that are much cleaner than electric due to our power to charge batteries comes largely from fossil fuels. Battery power will never be a practical global solution.

Tesla requires a front steering column/steering & suspension inspect after any collision. So much as a tie-rod’s bent (up front), PER TESLA: (not necessarily NHTSA), the entire rack requires replacement. They run about $2,650 for parts, and around four hours labor…I assume the “rear steer” doesn’t like Kyle’s “heat-em-up” rear “limp mode fix”, as it has rear-steer…😬

Very Cool. The improvements that you are talking about to make the system better than a human driver, are just a few small steps away. Detecting a stalled vehicle, traffic control officer, navigating around animals, road work, and accidents. The

You had a pc building moment. "Put it all back together? That's not going to work" but IT support requires it to wipe out that variable. Mobile phones on wheels.

It detects: that the vehicle collided, that you straightened that steering end and it has a dimensional difference with a new one. Keep it in mind. And also, Tesla immobilizes the vehicle remotely and you may need its OK due to the accident.

This is worrisome. It tends to confirm that damaged EVs take very little damage to be totalled. Imagine a planet with a few billions of them on the road.

Id have taken most of the weight off the wheels since the calibration requires the truck is on a turning rack. It may have had out of range resistance values for a sensor on the front end so it aborts the test.... Just a guess but its something to add to your game plan next time you rent the toolbox. Pur the wheels on individual dollies perhaps. The trash bag comment below sounds interesting on lowering the resistance so its two pieces of plastic stacked under each wheel I get it!

The cameras have to be in the EXACT position. I doubt approximate can be calibrated out.
