How to Change a 2011 Infiniti G37 Cabin Air Filter

Good vid and appreciate you taking the time for this. Every time I replace mine I always go back to KZbin to "re educate" how to replace the filter. (My G37s, 2016 Lexus & 2014 Tacoma TRD - all different 😒) I have to mention there really is no need to remove the dash trim piece above the glove box. The GB will seat tight just below it. Personal choice but keeps from possibly breaking that piece (in my opinion) Thanks!!

Here's a tip that makes this 100x easier: remove the glove box first! After you take off the side panel, you then snap off the plastic guard panel under the glove box (that guards it from your feet). Then you can pop out the glove box. The bottom hinges pop out, and with some sideways movement you can remove the whole glove box. There will be a tether attached that you can pop off. Now you have full access to the 7 screws to remove the plastic housing covering the air filter door.

So unnecessarily hard. Only 3 of the 7 screws I could put back properly without issues. Gave up and put it back with only the 3.

Just pop out the glove box first. It snaps out. Then you can easily get to all the screws. Idk why this guy kept the glove box connected to the housing, it's made to snap apart without tools.

Next day 2nd attempt. Once I get angry, I stop working for the day. Hard learned lesson. 1. Remove panel below glove box, 3 identical vertical friction pins, pops off, left was a little sticky. A plastic trim tool might help with a sticky pin. 2. Leave top trim and side trim in place. Bottom trim is the key to the job. 3. remove all the screws, deep center screw last. Box has two vertical friction pins that hold it in place. Gently pull it down so the friction pins pull out and the box is free. 4. Stand box on left end, out of the way, to the right of the passenger floor. 5. Change filter per directions. 6. Gently lift easy to maneuver box into place, carefully clearing the top trim. Push up so the friction pins snap into place. The box is secure enough to screw in, screw holes aligned. 7. Start all screws, then tighten finger tight don't over do it. Bottom left screw barely threads in, so stop once it grabs and there is no play. Deep insert top screw was perfectly aligned and pulls all other screws into alignment, don't over tighten. 8. Bottom panel rear pins slide into holders, top 3 snap into place easily. 9. Function test, ran fan on high. Quiet lots of air flow, no smell

There is a step missing that makes it easier: remove the glove box after removing the bottom trim. The glove box pops off its hinges and is removable making all the screws behind it easily accessible.

Compared to my 2003 Camry, just one screw and the glove box drops out of the way. The Infiniti design is terrible, they could have just copied Toyota Camry. Great video, on reassembly, the upper trim was hard to insert, so I gave it a tap with my palm to get it in. All of the friction clips that retain the top 4 screws broke loose, so nothing to screw into. The clips were preventing the trim from sliding in. Tomorrow, when I have calmed down, I will completely disassemble again and search for the clip that dropped into the interior. Then see if they need to be replaced or glued into their brackets before attempting re assembly. My 2013 which I purchased a 2 years ago with low miles also had the original filter, likely due to the incredibly poor design for replacement. wouldn't surprise me if the dealer charged the original owner and did not replace it. After the clips are replaced, I will see if the upper trim can go on before the glove box is re-installed, not optimistic that it will clear the trim.
