@@Pece73in my experience, if you get it and it fits right, it is absolutely awesome, great resolution, colors, fit etc etc. but it has around quest 2 field of view, lens fogging issues when you first put the headset on, and mild comfort issues with the soft strap and face gasket (occasionally). also a small sweet spot, with poor edge to edge clarity.

My view with sim racing has been that even if it makes you slower, if the immersion and "realism" is higher it is infinitely worth it as at the end of the day you are trying to simulate real life. Now i have to see if i have an extra 40k lying around somewhere.

When it comes to nausea with VR, my understanding is that it happens because there is a disconnect between what your brain is being told by your eyes and your body. Apparently having even a minor bit of movement of your body that matches what your eyes are telling you is enough to reduce the risk of developing it. So combining VR with a moving rig should theoretically eliminate the motion sickness.
@boostedmedia7 ай бұрын
Yep I'd say thats true in my experience. The motion needs to match very closely though. As soon as theres any disconnect at all it has the opposite effect in my experience.
@MacheteDontText1007 ай бұрын
For me, i get more nausea when I'm playing something like HL alyx, even when I'm moving side to side and not using a joystick. But no problem when driving.

sounds right, I tried my mates vr drone not flying it but using the googles to see what he can also see on his phone except I can move the view, and he just went a little to high and moved and I got a bad turn in my gut wore it for 20 mins, yet I have used a vr sim rig at like at a gaming center one about 1-2k and I was fine and loving it wishing I could get one. Guess it could be the same thing as to why you wake up when falling in a dream.

This is as close as a sim is gonna get. To those who experience motion sick in VR, it just takes time. 80% will feel motion sick in the early stages, including myself. I remember barfing, but that didn’t stop me. Little at a time and then after a while, your brain gets used to it. Minutes will be hours. That’s when VR will be rewarding. Tip for Will, use a big fan for comfort, racing gloves and jumpsuit, will add more to the immersion.

Welcome to the world of long stroke ultra fast reaction time actuators. Qubic systems makes amazing sim products with a long and quite remarkable commercial sim history. They are just very expensive for an average guy. An average guy can build a similar experience with 200mm ultra fast actuators for around 12K USD but when it comes to purchasing an out of the box bespoke sim with great tech support experience Qubic is #1. This rig is amazing and it is considered mid-range in their offerings! Looking forward to the follow ups... seemed like forever since the teaser video. For the North America crowd, the Noobifier on KZbin is an authorized distributor with full white glove setup and tuning services. Thanks Will. Keep it up!

Looks cool. The thing too with Motion Rig is in a car, you don't get FFB in the wheel. Only through motion. So I would reduce the FFB a lot more to have to rely on the Motion for understanding car motion. That should help with sensory overload, but also, with dialing back the motion to what you need. It really is the same. You spend a lot of time dialing the FFB on the DD wheel to make sense. Need to spend as much time to "replace" the FFB info with the Motion info. I tried a rig like that for Formula Car. The first time, it felt so weird having close to no FFB on wheel. After 4-5 laps, I was only relying on my butt and shoulders to know what the car was doing. Very different feeling. And definitely not what you'd want to do with a "lesser" motion system, like a D-Box. Those are to add feeling. The full 6 dof motion system, they "can" replace that missing car sensation.

If you properly set it up (Simtools SW) you get a really good experience especially if you combine it with VR. Of couse this in video is better, but probably not that much if you compare 40x higher price..

I use vr with a haptic seat pad, a buttkicker, and a couple of dayton shakers on the pedals. They add a real nice depth of immersion - can feel the car on all my contact points: hands feet and seat. I think the only thing I could improve would be full motion but haptic & vr is pretty close. I've whooped out loud with excitement, had so many fun moments racing with it.

Also the ffb and the details, especially with the suspension blew my mind, and it felt way more realistic than any sim I’ve tried yet, but that could be down to me being relatively new, and not calibrating my setting perfectly in other sims, but so far, I think Acc’s done it the best for me so far

I don't know how other games handle the force feedback and information when crashing, but I think ACC did a great job of NOT translating that into the wheel and motion rigs, because crashes can be often VERY bad, so to remove that from the sensation actually removes possible actual injuries (depending how violent the car hits a wall) you could get some serious neck pain on a whip, or your wheel can bruise a thumb if you have thumbs in.

"I said, Shake rattle and roll"........... I said, shake rattle and roll"........... That old song came into my mind just moments into seeing that rig jiggling him about. You know he had fun in it. I'm just an everyday commuter to work. Zero Rig. I sometimes push the car on those curvy side road..... I want to drive in that rig. When you watch those pistons move, it doesn't look like there is much movement in travel distance. But you can see his arms shake as well as the clothes. This rig is meant for the the professional racer. Possibly for those that have 40K in disposable funds. Or as a pay-to-play rig at a game place. It was not discussed. What is moving/powering the support pistons? I'm thinking hydraulics with a very good variable valve control. Which means there is a running hydraulic pump somewhere making noise. Or is it liner travel electric motors? Those could work, if there was a weight counter balance setup that would bring the rig to center when there is no power.

You can use Quest 3 or Pro with their Passtrough Cameras to see your Steering Wheel and your Shifter in Real Life mixed in your Racing Sim

How do you find the lack of fov in VR compared to your daily rig? I'd love VR to become my daily but I really can't get past the lack of peripheral vision - feels like driving with blinkers on I know you touched on this in a previous vr video but would appreciate a view after using it in a full motion rig

Haven't spent any time with other cars around me yet so I will reserve judgement for now.

Hello Will, can you do a review of the fanatec csl cockpit?

Apparently it’s “not possible” for them to send us one, so not sure at the moment.
