Bootleg / KO Marvel Legends Movie Venom Review and Comparison

The bootlegs are essentially factory rejects during the Quality Control process. They are all placed in a bin. Someone thought of a way to sell them off cheap to people who do not mind cheaper (but defective) versions of the original goods. So that explains why the bootleg versions are of decent quality, some with only minor flaws, but which got them rejected anyway.

I'd say its both of what you guys mentioned earlier. They might be excess figures rejected by qc. They can also be copies of the original. The thing is, I've encountered both. If you see my bootleg playlist, most of the spidey bootlegs/KOs are not exactly the same as the original, there are some minor differences which gives it away. In my *Bootleg... or?' playlist, those might be qc rejects because they are exactly the same as the original.

Either way, the originals can sometimes be priced so high that they become a disincentive for anyone to buy. Quality continues to be a huge issue for bootleg figures - somewhere, some part is bound to be deficient or subpar in some way. Should people stick to originals then? Well, to each his own. A $15 dollar 'NECA' figure vs a genuine $65 one - for many there's really no dilemma.

Received my KO Venom today. Thankfully the eyes are proportionately painted on mine compared to pics/videos of other bootlegs I have seen. Some minor pain errors here and there, but they can be easily corrected. It's remarkably close to my original except the missing body textures. Joints are nice and tight. What's funny is that my original Venom from last year had more major paint flaws, the eyes were too large and triangular on the smiling face and it had teeth missing on the tongued face, veins on its body were unevenly painted some were too light, others too dark. One would expect Hasbro to have better quality control on authentic figures. Bootleg being flawed is okay, but authentic figures should be flawless.

@@Stillfigurineout only two side teeth are pink on the tongued head, where as there is some minor teeth paint spilling out onto the gums in the smiling face. Both of these imperfections seem easy to fix. My original's smiling face looked like a rabbit though I managed to correct that one as well. 😝

I just received the Ali express package today and something seemed off, so I was looking for videos and reviews online and this video just proves it, I knew it wasn’t an original marvel legends! Even though I got it for 7 dollars cheaper it still doesn’t seem as good as it is supposed to be, if I knew it would be so bad then I would’ve gotten the original for just 7 more dollars rather than getting some knock off figure.

@@Stillfigurineout yeah it’s not too bad but my figure is so stiff, every time I remove and head or hands I have to use so much force, my fingers turn red, so for the price it’s not too bad but for better texture and movement with easier to remove hands and head I would’ve gotten the original, Atleast the infinity saga captain America was original, I hope the infinity saga Odin figure I ordered is original too

My original from last year too had missing teeth paint similar to how it is on your bootleg and eyes were too big and not painted right on the smiling face. I have corrected the imperfections and also customized it further, but it was kind of a bummer how these QC issues existed on my original.

He looked like having rabbit teeth, I have corrected everything using acrylics. Have ordered this KO, would be funny if I get a piece with better QC than my original. In any case I will costumize the KO as well, may be use the spare body as a comic Venom.

Thanks for watching! Even between original figures, the serial number may be different, so I wouldn't worry about the serial number. More importantly are the other differences like the paintwork at the teeth and the lower torso. That would be the clear indicator of the bootleg. ✌

Check for tooth molding too. Often times the bootleg teeth are less separately defined and look more like they're all connected.

I got the KO 80th Anniversary, grey, red and the other green hulk lol. But I've only done comparison for the red hulk. They are all solid figures, and i don't think the KO price would drop any lower. I got my KO around 25usd or so each.

Yes but probably not in retail stores like Walmart or target. I ordered mine off mericari for 50$. If you want to get one that’s price is similar to its original price you have to wait for something to pop up on eBay or mericari. Or you could be impatient like me and order one for 50$

I ordered the figure from Amazon and the picture they had was the legit figure. But it arrived today and it was the bootleg version, plus the packaging for the figure was a bit smushed on left. (Bootleg figure ain't broken though) I'm thinking of trying to return it or get my money back.
