Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor for adult collectors, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and Spider-Man, Avengers, and X-Men collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

Hasbro's ML team has been dropping the ball a lot lately, but they still hit it out of the park at times. Which bugs me because if they have the ability to make great figures than be more consistent. This Venom, Retro Lizard, Amazing Fantasy Spiderman, Spiral, all great figures. Some maybe priced too high, but they're still good. Then you have something with all reused parts from a ten year mold with just a new head for 25-30 and that's just uncalled for.

I am very satisfied with the colors on the Marvel Legends Venom. I hope Marvel Legends will get more Sony Venom figures but it doesn't seem high priority. I'd love a casual Eddie with an floating attachable venom head and a Carnage. I have the Figuarts Carnage on preorder because I don't think Hasbro will get around to it. Then when they do maybe I'll sell it for whatever it's worth then.

Hasbro's Carnage will most definitely be a better overall figure. Figuarts prioritizes articulation, sure, but the sculpts suffer for it. And they're nice but not as actual cinematic representations. It's more their spin on the designs than anything else, they're very stylized and oddly flat for the money you're paying for them.

I have the Marvel and I am completely happy with it. I hit mine with some Dulcoat and it helped a ton, I also applied several coats of high gloss clear to the tongue on Venom and it made the tongue look wet, which also really helped

I think it's absolutely fair to compare. With the price difference, I feel I should go. Yep I paid x amount for this and I expected this quality of product. Blue Venom - I think it's that the first movie had a lot of "moonlight lit" scenes which means a lot of blue. Then cool lighting in that little mart. The second movie far less so. Really Hasbro could make a few tweaks(individual neck, pinless) but I feel like bang for your buck - MVL.

The overall sculpt on the Legends version is also far more accurate, the Figuarts version is more stylized, more like their version of the design instead of an actual replica.

@@andytrevino4077you couldn’t be more wrong, Legends has their own style whereas figuarts recreates the style on screen. Figuarts always has people saying “it looks weird” or “His arms are too long” or “He’s too skinny” when it’s literally how the character looks on screen. Whereas marvel legends just reuses parts and mid sculpt, like Venom has longer arms in the movie yet Shartimus disses the figuarts for having accurate arm length because he thinks the legends is accurate when it’s not. There is literally one thing Marvel legends ever has over figuarts which is the price, anything else and you’re lying to yourself.

For the price (also for when they were made), I think they’re both good. I do think the S.H. Venom should be cheaper than it is though. I guess it just depends on how much you like it. I personally think the hasbro venom is good enough since I ordered it from Walmart a week ago lol. My only real gripe with it is that is needs a lot more white paint for the veins. That’s not a deal breaker for me, especially when I got it on sale for 20 bucks

That might be the price in Japan but for people in say the US. They will be paying $100+ for the figure either through the markup up via the high shipping costs. So it's a little moot to talking about a price that US viewers simply won't pay. But if you can pay that lower cost, that could be factored into your choice to pick it up. That applies to people who have to pay the markups in other countries for Marvel Legend figures.

I’ve been getting big into Hot Toys recently and stepping away from other because of the price for what you get. I’d rather pay more and get more than pay higher prices than they should be for others. Anyways my point is the Hot Toys has shades of purple mixed in but it’s very subtle like it should be but this is WAAAAAYYYY to blue. It’s a full color not a shade mixed in or on top or anything. This sh figurarts is absolutely without a doubt the wrong color.

The color of the S.H. Venom is almost closer to riot than venom. Black? Grey? Blue? I don’t know what you’d actually call that color. I think it’s a great figure, but it’s a pretty easy pass for me. I’m happy with hasbro’s work. I do with they would have made a better looking version for “let there be carnage”, and why didn’t they make a carnage figure??? It’s not like people wouldn’t buy it. Make it a large, quality figure with tentacle accessories and a 30 dollar price, and I know people would be happy with it. I'm with you on this Shartimus. The ML version is one of my favorite figures. And with a little customizing (sand the back of the head for better head movement , give the eyes a light, blue wash and repaint the teeth & veins), it's almost just as articulated and well painted. The only thing that the S.H. figure has over ML, in my opinion, is the butterfly joints. S.H. Figuarts = $130 vs. M.L. + tools to customize = $50. Good vid Shart! Sik

ML for me, looks way more accurate mcu venom (because of the color), and i don't mind the accessories, like i mean it's venom after all, he doesn't need a shit tons of accessories, ML also has a fair amount of articulation, i do know that sh figuarts has way more articulation, but the ML doesn't really have a bad articulation, it's alr (the only thing that sucks is the head articulation), more cheaper than sh figuarts, and ofc sculpt wise obviously sh figuarts wins since it's sh figuarts xd. But yeah still, ML is still better for me for the price point, it's pretty good, and i just don't really want my venom looking like blue instead of black.

Arguments with marvel legends collectors about any other brand or company is pointless. You can guarantee their gonna pick the marvel legends for two reasons price and loyalty. If you don't want to pay for higher quality products just say that. These comparisons aren't fair based on Quality alone. Sculpt and paint is a no Brainer. However all it takes is a cheaper price point and here comes the complaints. @IAmFunnierThan24 any excuse to justify paying the cheaper price. I've never heard anyone complain about over posing hot toys to the point that it falls apart. Most people treat them like statues. Which is what you're paying for. Hot toys arent meant for extensive play. Marvel legends are manufactured for 4 year olds to play with. Sh figuarts are made to last year's after the purchase and posed over and over again without the risk of paint fading or joints getting loose. Basically if you want high quality products you have to pay for it. You can compare 20 dollar toys all day long, however you're really just comparing apples to oranges.

They just kinda look ugly, or at least just not as good as other companies like mafex and sometimes even worse than some marvel legends. And, this might seem like maybe a small thing, but most of their Spider-Man figures don’t have bicep swivels. The SHF Venom might be better than Marvel Legends, but again for the price point it should be a whole lot more better than it actually is. Even Anthony Customs said something similar in his review, and he is the most critical marvel legends reviewer.

There are many Venoms that are very different in display and size, some reused body molds but in that case the layouts on 90% of SHF are the same and for some figures it completely takes away from it.

If it’s a marvel theme super hero figure the lay out for most of them are the same with specialized models like iron man, spider man. Their DC lay out seems just meant for heroic poses. But their bread and butter shows with the kamen rider line along with the new anime figures. It’s basically categorized to cater to what kind of figure you’re getting for their price point. There’s amazing legends man but this comparison shouldn’t have even made because of their totally different purposes.
