Man, these characters just keep coming back. I think they're a well-defined enough line of action figures that they should have a cartoon of their own. And Phelan should have full creative control. Because no one else knows the action figures as well as he does. And he'd do a lot of the voice work too, of course.

Whoa…at 6:02, that 4-legged dinosaur. I’ve got something REALLY similar to that. I distinctly remember he smelled nice, kinda fruity almost, like a bag of sweets. He was green, too. I wonder if one of my parents bought me a Galaxy Warriors figure to go along with my He-Man stuff at some point? That would blow my mind. Although it could just be a generic dinosaur mold that was used often.

As a native French speaker, I love how awkward the translations to French are on these cards. 0:58 - "Les super monstres" isn't too bad, it's grammatically correct I suppose but it does sound weird. "Complet avec bouclier, cuirasse et arme" is just nonsense though, it's a direct translation of the English term "complete with..." which doesn't exist in French. Normally you'd just say "avec bouclier, etc..." and I think on a toy packaging, they might use "vendu avec bouclier, etc..." (which translates to "sold with shield, etc..."). 1:25 - "Fabriqué à Chine" I'll give them a pass on the lack of accents as it's capitalized but the grammar is completely wrong and it's quite amazing they managed to get it this wrong considering it's a common term found on many products. The way they wrote it just doesn't mean anything. the closest English equivalent for what they did would be "made to China" but I tink it makes even less sense in French. To make this even weirder, the correct term is "Fabriqué en Chine" which translates literally to "Made in China" so I have no idea why they put extra effort into it only to get it wrong. 1:43 - "Collectionnez La Gamme Complète De Guerriers Et Accessores Galaxy". Again, grammatically correct but still weird. For starters, they decided to capitalize every word for some reason, despite not doing so for the English text, they forgot an accent and this time they don't have the excuse of it being all-caps and they spelled "accessoires" wrong (forgot the "i"). They also wrote it like "Galaxy" is the name of the line. 3:15 - "Les Guerriers GALAXIE". This one is just hilarious to me as it's a direct translation of "Galaxy Warriors" but it's just nonsense in French. The correct term would have been "Les guerriers de la galaxie" or maybe "Les guerriers galactiques" (in fact, that one sounds better) but they way it's written there, it doesn't make any sense and in fact seems to be implying that the warriors ARE a galaxy which is admittedly an amazing concept. 3:22 - "Avec armements". Again, utter nonsense and again, I'm pretty sure it's the result of a direct translation. The word "armement" does exist in French but it refers to the action of acquiring weapons.

This was really interesting, thanks! Not sure why you have so few likes on this comment. I guess maybe it's just from people being too lazy to read long comments? Anyway, thank you for the explanations, it makes it even funnier knowing that they fucked it up so bad, especially the bit where it makes it sound like the warriors _are a galaxy_. That's incredible.

Similar to the original logo and card art, the Huk art on the Galaxie card seems to be a direct lift from the Frazetta Snow Giants painting, the piece that originally inspired Huk. Its the exact same pose, with the hair of his beard positioned in a very similar way, and the breastplate is almost identical, including the two circle plates at the top and the smaller circles that curve around the buckle at the bottom. The green Dragoon is also in nearly the same position as the warrior not-Huk is fighting in the original art, though the shield he's holding has been slightly redesigned, most noticeably getting rid of the point at the center. The differences are, besides him stealing Magnon's helmet, is his axe has been changed from the double-bladed version to something more closely resembling the Galaxy Warriors axe.

I feel like Anubi having a head in a different color makes some sense - his body looks like that of a human, and has little to no hair, while his head is covered in fur. So having a black or red head seems fine. To a lesser extent, the snake guy Sahak also can afford having a flesh colored body (since it's human) and a differently colored head (since it's a snake head). These arguments I guess fit for Tiger Man and Dino Man respectively. Not sure how it would make sense for the others, especially when the character is completely human-looking. (also, is it wrong I'd like to have some of those from the line that comes with a dinosaur ? TBH, I was heavily obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid, so I guess my inner child wants those just for the dino)

Oh wow so a horribly warped nose is a common thing with Muscle Warriors Anubi. I thought it was a thing with mine... I ended up carving it off and sculpting one based on photos of a proper Anubi. Mine had a head color that very closely matched the body color, too. I honestly think the head of the guy on the Muscle Warriors is some freakish hybrid of Gallant from Combo (which I hope you'll review some day) and Magnon's resculped Muscle Warriors helmet (which interestingly enough matches the Galaxy Heroes Magnon card art incredibly well).

I suspect the "twisting head n waist," et cetera, was due to being printed by someone French who didn't quite understand English. Since n is often used in place of "and," it's more than likely he thought n by itself was the English "et."
@SamanthaPortUkulele7 жыл бұрын
According to another comment, the French is actually pretty terribly translated/written, so French was not their first language. My guess would be to save space? I guess? Not that it saves that much, but since they were writing it in two languages instead of one, maybe removing those two characters a few times saved just enough space to make things fit. But if that were the case, why not use an ampersand or even a plus sign? Hmm. The other guess I could make is that not only was French not their native language, but English wasn't either, given they were produced in China and Hong Kong. The problem with that theory is that other than the "n", none of the English is really all that bad. So... yeah, I really don't know. But it's not because they were French.
@anikmonette21407 жыл бұрын
Vherstinae Yeah... There's a little symbol available for that purpose, the "&" symbol. Truth is, they didn't give a rats ass... Even the French isn't that good, so I'm not sure they were francophones to begin with.

Unfortunately, this will probably never happen. It's difficult for reviewers like Phelan to put out DVDs because they do not have permission to reproduce clips of movies and TV shows and then sell them. It's fine in a free internet video because of fair use laws, but not in the case of anything that you have to pay for. He might be able to put Bootleg Zones on DVD, though, but I get the sense that probably won't happen either. In the meantime, you could always just download the videos and burn your own DVDs if you really really needed to do things that way, but it'd probably be much easier to just stream them to a TV with something like a ChromeCast.
