I think all of these kind of unusual situations come up because of the abundance of information in this era. So up and coming footballers that get influenced by the "internet" get to decide for themselves what they want to do. Before this most players didn't know much when they were given the opportunity for a contract etc. It's consequence of the present but it's a change that has to happen. It's nice to see players doing what they love, rather than being forced to love something.

Josh and Jay - I have a challenge for you. Find out why Nike and Adidas won't release AG boots in North America. Ordering from Europe is not fun, and there really aren't that many grass fields in the area to warrant FG only boots.

NikeID/Nike by You has an AG option. It’ll cost pretty much the same as it will to ship a retail pair, but you also get to customize your boots

Another aspect of this is that brands are bringing out new models of boots so quickly, the newer versions may not always seem like improvements and adds friction the relationship. This would be magnified the more money a player is paid obviously, but it seem foolish to think the best way forward is to push new products regardless of quality but rather relevance.

I have another idea as to why this is happening and I don't even think it's personal. A few years ago Adidas and the New Zealand all blacks signed a contract to supply all kit including boots. In business terms having it was clever, using the team to promote rather than an individual means your saving millions and all you have to do is match the kit to the boots (actually the fern pattern on the leather of the RWC 19 pack was nothing short of stunning). Clubs like a standard form, things to be matchy-matchy as it looks profeasional, the brands like only their logos to be visible.... It's win win. By not granting contracts to players it's paving the way for it.

Boots being too wide is really disappointing. I have really liked the hypervenoms and the phantom venom, but even with the right length they're too wide. Wearing two socks helps a little, but it's still noticeable.

How important is it for pros to have their boots made on a custom last? What % of players do you think are having this done? One thing I’ve noticed a lot lately is that most Nike SG boots are not anti-clog, but a rather normal looking SG plate. I presume this is bc pro pitches don’t require anti-clog and a normal plate is lighter. But if a player isn’t contracted with Nike, would this be an available option for them? Because I’ve looked around, and I can’t find an SG Nike boot without anti-clog for sale.

Hey guys, this question's been on my mind for awhile now: why don't more pro players wear Mizuno? I understand they don't have the same brand recognition and financial means to snatch all the top/most hyped stars, but surely they could shop for some 2nd or 3rd tier good players and offer the chance to be the face of a boot to many players who wouldn't get that chance with Nike, Adi or Puma. So is it that players simply don't want to wear Mizuno, or that Mizuno isn't really trying to get players? Please explain it to me..

you want a high percentage of cotton in your socks thats why the majority of pros r wearing the plain adidas/nike tennis socks cause that r the ones that have the high percentage of cotton. all the fancy socks, teamsocks included r almost 100% polyester/nylon which is pretty bad in terms of grip and comfort
