Yep- this failed under my elderly parents bath in the middle of the night. The amount of water flooding the upstairs and downstairs was terrifying until I was able run to their place (over a mile away) to cut off the water from the mains. The internal stop-cock was inaccessible , the bathroom sideboard was all tiled up so couldn't access, caused unbelievable stress. Got the plumber to replace it with proper copper-pipe connections.

I've only just started to use these as they do make life so mush easier, before these there were problems with the old fibre washers on the tap connectors. Just keep an eye on things I suppose, cheers

I love them, so fast and simple. I have seen some with other types of hoses within, but you don't know until you cut them open. I guess it is better to go with new on these, or gamble!

Had one of these rupture recently on the hot water side of our mixer tap behind our downstairs sink. Totally destroyed our downstairs floor and sitting room carpet. Seemed like it was a slow leak at somepoint and then completely gave way over night. Braiding was rusted. Unit is only about 3 years old installed in a new home built 2018. We have 3 more in the house all okay so far. Seems like possibly a bad part, or damaged during install. Either way the damage is done.

Interesting video and I agree that these braided lines do fail. But what is the better solution? Your link is to another similar line so not really a long term solution. :(

I use them everywhere, but it is good to be aware of the problems of the future. they are standard kit and widely accepted. It is worth keeping an eye on them!

Just came home from a Christmas carol service and the exact thing just happened in my downstairs toilet. Managed to isolate it ( using the screw thingy ) but unfortunately it had done a lot of flooding damage already. I think I'll now look into getting a solid tap connecter. Once bitten, twice shy.

What is the alternative for a tap that requires a M10 x 1/2″ BSP?
@bootsowen

A solid copper and brass screw pipe into the tap body and then copper or pushfit from there. Or just be aware of the potential issue and keep an eye out. These hoses are everywhere and they are cheap.

they shouldn't fail because they're not supposed to be messed around with. but thanks for the caveat

This one hadn't been touched since installation, 10 or 15 years.

Do not kink or twist the Stainless Flexi hose. Without metal fabrics they are not stable.

These are not a lifetime solution. They are supposed to be replaced every 10 years.
