GIN WINTERBERRY SODA
3-5 Blackberries
.5 oz/15 ml Simple Syrup
2 oz/60 ml Empress 1908 Gin
4 oz/120 ml Lemon Lime Soda
Method
1. First two ingredients to Glass.
2. Muddle gently.
3. Add Ice.3.
4. Add remaining ingredients.
5. Garnish with 2 Blackberries.

Blackberries are smashing the r cocktails with gin. Try French Martini with 2-3 muddled blackberries inside. You'll love it.

That would depend on where you live and what is available to you. You could use any gin or vodka that you prefer. For example I have access to a blueberry gin that I could use. You could use a regular gin and add more fruit. And you could change the fruit type as well and make it your own.

Absolutely. Its totally up to you. The color would be more uniform through our the cocktail too.

Love it! but White claws and many other variants aren't spirit based, they're "beer" based meaning theres fermentation but no distillation of the base beverage. That's why they have so little flavor.

You could go with it and see how it works. You wouldn't need much. I would be very curious to hear how it turns out for you. Or, you could go with the gin of your choice and add a couple of extra berries to get the color.

You can use a honey syrup but cut the amount in half as honey is sweeter than simple syrup.

I made this and mine is a bit darker than yours, I think because I used a lot more berries.. However, I feel Empress is not being truthful about their recipe. There's no way their winterberry cocktail should be sky blue... no way.

Thank you for the feedback. you have a great point about the sweetness level. On further thought I would swap the Sprite for a Soda Water/Seltzer, to the the natural berry flavors come through. If you were to recreate this recipe what changes would you make?

@@boozeontherocks if I were going to use a flavored canned soda I’d maybe use Fresca which is less sweet and no simple Syrup. The grapefruit would pair well with the blackberries. However I personally would use plain club soda/seltzer with the simple syrup to better control sweetness. 😝
