Do you recommend same process for other trout/salmon species roe? I always fish loose eggs in sacs I’ve never used eggs from a skein in a sac.... guess there wouldn’t be much of a difference thi
@mattdgguy5 жыл бұрын
Do you always use only the Borax or do you sometimes use a Borax/salt/sugar mix? Jello gelatin can add sweetness and firm them up too.
@tonytonesworld65372 жыл бұрын
Can you add color cure afterwards are would I have to do that in the first step when you put the borax
@realhardballify10 жыл бұрын
do you add scent or color at a times???I like the easiness to what you have shown.I heard you can add sugar and salt as well.
@Centerpinaddicts10 жыл бұрын
Trouta Holic We don't usually add scent or color as you can add it at the time of use. I know a few people who do add the color for multi color sac's

Do you not rinse them off before using?
@imgmakr10 жыл бұрын
How long will they keep when frozen? Do you add any flavor/scent enhancers? Do you rinse them when getting ready to use?
@Centerpinaddicts10 жыл бұрын
Anthony Allen NO rinsing that's a bad thing as it will make the eggs start to milk before you use them. I know someone fishing salmon eggs 5 yrs old and caught fish on them last week,.
@mollyhendrick45423 жыл бұрын
How long do they stay in the fridge to cure before using? 24-48 hours?
@troyjolgren39599 жыл бұрын
I've seen other guys, up here in the upper penninsula, rinse the cured eggs in cold water before using them for fishing. is this necessary?
@Centerpinaddicts7 жыл бұрын
No I dont think so and I prefer to leave it all in there for a scent trail especially for night fishing.

Hey man great stuff ! Do you leave in the bag and never take out after to rack dry ? And did you leave the bag in the fridge for 12 hrs after the 1 st hr in room temperature? Thanks !
@Centerpinaddicts7 жыл бұрын
no as allowing the skein to dry some prevents runny soft eggs in my personal opinion. yup right in the fridge if possible.
@IGotsWhatchuNeeed7 жыл бұрын
CenterpinAddicts I suppose you like your to milk more then ? Ifrom what I've gathered is if you want em to milk easy then don't rack dry but if like stiffer less goopy then rack dry or paper towel dry .

Can you please make a video on how to cure loose king salmon eggs with a Clearwater cure.
@ibrahimpatel51647 жыл бұрын
What happens if you cure your eggs (single) and they are soft? Will adding borax help make them harder?
@ccemtp857 жыл бұрын
So when it comes to loose eggs I don’t use borax. I use a cure called Clearwater cure. I have found that the borax on single eggs dries them out to much. If you add more you’ll dry them out in my opinion. Hope that helps
@Centerpinaddicts7 жыл бұрын
yes it will but borax on a single egg can be a little much. I use a different cure for single eggs called Clearwater Cure..... that stuff is AMAZING !!!! but Borax and or Pautzke for the in skein version !!!!!
@Islandhuntingandoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
hey after you cure and let the eggs sit can u cut them into chunks and tie them into sacks before you freeze
@Centerpinaddicts9 жыл бұрын
snowboarder450 yes and no, if you cut them into chunks and freeze as sacs the liquid displaced from the eggs solidifying will vary the sac size. .... Freeze in small portions and then take what you need and then tie the night before or on the bank like I do so you don't waste eggs on colors that don't work, if you wade and cant leave your spot then tie up the night before. .... Hope this helps
@Islandhuntingandoutdoors9 жыл бұрын
colors that dont work? and sweet thanks! i have a bunch in freezer im saving up to cure the way you showed
@Centerpinaddicts9 жыл бұрын
There isn't really a "color" that doesn't work however its more of a patterning the colors to the weather and water clarity to produce strikes..... and that just takes time and practice/trail and error

can you use this for a steelhead egg cure as well. or just Salmon eggs???
@alvinwoolen23402 жыл бұрын
Use borax and orange jello for steelhead. They love it
@sebastiankruszka394810 жыл бұрын
Can you do these with loose eggs cuz that's what I have I was just wondering if it will work that way
@Centerpinaddicts10 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, any egg can have the borax done, however that being said Clearwater cure is our preference when it comes to loose eggs for a phenomenal cure.
@sebastiankruszka394810 жыл бұрын
Thx that will be useful to know
@geralddavis9236 Жыл бұрын
They highly recommend against using mule team borax for eggs it has more chemicals than just regular fisherman's borax that an it has a scent
