Such a beautiful home. I would either look to put a plain linen fabric on the footboard or take a picture of the fabric and see if it can be reproduce. Fingers crossed 🤞it works out for you. Loved the children playing at the end. They are adorable 😍

Remove the inside fabric of the footboard to patch the front piece. Recover the inside with plain linen. Or check the Back of the headboard for fabric and use that to patch.

The focal point of the bed can be dramatically set off my simpler surroundings. I'd give it a chance. It's so unique and would make the room so special. It looks so custom. Everyone likes a grand bed, especially in a beautiful chateau. As a designer I can see how the room could be finished. Simple textured bedding is a good place to start. I love what you are doing with the floors. Good luck.

I love the bedroom set also, but l think it is too short for the room and the wall sconces. Could you elevate the closet units with feet or a box so that the cornice doesn't cover the sconces. I think that would really improve the visual effect. It just looks too squatty for the tall ceilings and grandness of the furniture. I like the idea of taking the inside material from the bed footboard and using it on the damaged side. Then using a plain piece of fabric to recover the inside of the footboard. I know that's a lot more work but l think it might be worth the effort. You all have done a beautiful job on the renovation. My husband and l renovated an old hospital into a bed and breakfast inn and residence. It was only 16 rooms total....but it was so much work. I have appreciation for what you are experiencing. All the wishes for success to you...you are doing a most excellent job!

When moving furniture. I have heard and call them, “forklifts”, but they are are like tow straps, or like those little ratchet straps except that they are much larger and only the straps. You use them by putting your forearms in the loops at each end. Each person has one end of two straps, and the straps are ran under the furniture. So when moving something large and odd shaped, it’s supported by the person’s arms, and stabilized by their hands.

Is there material on the BACK of the headboard? Since it will be facing the wall, you could take that material and use it to replace the footboard front, and have a plain colored material on the back of the headboard. You might have enough spare for a pillow or two.

Y’all headboards are easy peeps to fix and your idea of using the fabric that is still good for pillows is brilliant and you could use a great piece of colored velvet on the outside for some glam or linen for an easy country sheik sorta look. If I was there I’d do it for nothing for y’all just to help! You can do it! It will be one of the easiest projects y’all have done! No finished edges, just tacks! And y’all need the furniture movers we have over here for the carpet and the hardwoods! Give us all an address to to send things to and I’ll send y’all some! You place them under the edges and slide or push the furniture wherever you want it! Good luck and much love from the USA!🥰

I think the bedframe has upholstery by GP & J Baker “Parrot & Pineapple”. I understand it’s discontinued- there is some online but what I came across was pricey. I would try to gently remove the good fabric from the interior of the footboard ( even if it gets a little damage you have the damaged fabric to splice/patch). You could always add a complimentary stripe on the interior side to replace what you’ve switched out. The floors look great. That’s such a charming petit chateau and you all are doing a great job bringing it back !!
@misssilencedogood5968
@misssilencedogood5968 3 жыл бұрын
I would KEEP the fabric yes turn them into pillows. HOWEVER the inside of the footboard the fabric is PERFECT. Use that for the outside where the other fabric was it is already the perfect shape! Allow the area where you took the fabric from the inside of the footboard to stay that linen color ... Boom you have your fabric back. Or alternatively you could take the fabric off the footboard choose a deep burgundy wine color velvet that matches the pattern for the inside of the footboard and use the foot board fabric for the outside. It would look lush and stunning. :D!!! If there is a discrepancy in size use a burgundy or white velvet trim to make up for the seam. OR you could just patch it by sending it to someone who specializes in textiles and sewing delicate materials. They should be able to patch it up seamlessly and sew down the material like it never happened.
@rainbocatz6376
@rainbocatz6376 3 жыл бұрын
Have you considered that due to the thickness of the footboard, the inside fabric may be slightly smaller than the outside fabric? And trying to stretch older fabric could cause additional damage. I'd suggest leaving the inside fabric alone and just replace the outside fabric. (That damaged corner fabric also appears to have gotten some sun damage and fading.....)
@misssilencedogood5968
@misssilencedogood5968 3 жыл бұрын
@@rainbocatz6376 It is hard to say without looking at the inside of the footboard. The headboard is padded then overlaid with fabric on both sides. It is possible it can be used again despite its age with the proper textile archival care. He was in fact vacuuming the fabric quite vigorously so I do not think it is that fragile what I also thought was faded fabric was actually dust. I too thought it would be nice to replace the outside fabric with a cotton velvet matching the color of the piece. So many options :) .

Anna you have beautiful taste. I think it could be pretty painted cream with just a touch of gold. That bridge piece could be hung on the wall ,higher than the cabinets ,with curtains behind it. Extra trim on top of the cabinets. And possibly on the ends of the bridge. Fabric on the footboard could be a very soft stripe. With a mix of big pillows on the back. Sketch it out to see if you like it. And as you said maybe you could use it in a less important room. I love seeing you accomplish so much with your beautiful family. 🥂

That bed is absolutely gorgeous 😱 As I’ve seen in others comments… taking the inside… see if it fits the outer side and find a nice solid color for the inside. Like a contrasting color. I don’t know if that’s a pink color but… that’s just my humble opinion. If you are leaving the walls white for “someone else” to decide what color they want, I would leave the bed with that top part on… it would not be as beautiful without it. 🤷‍♀️ Now when your able to keep this “Passion Project”… and a lot of us praying you can!!! Paint those walls to match that bed 😘 OXOXOX’s

Glue down the damage very carefully and piece together like a jigsaw, this is possible using ‘pincers’ and will get you through until you have time to recover with linen ( not the lining Ed already there ) it’s a lovely bed and the covering fabric is very pretty.

Isn't it nice to see some rooms completed? Renovating is such a long journey. Considering your bed was stored for over 12 years, it did well!!

Emma is so sweet, I think she looks like her Mom. Your son is very handsome and watching them play together is delightful. Great progress on the renovations Edd and Anna, a lot of trial and error and a whole lot of patience. Thanks❤️🙏🏻

Re the bed. I'd pick out a water silk style material in an exact match to something in the original fabric (eg. scarlet) in readiness to reupholster the end panel. Wash the original material and loosely gather it... (making folds), press it then attach it to the 'new' material making a 'centre panel' with the original fabric. Reupholster to end panel. Hope that makes sense...just an idea. xxxx

Beautiful ❤ You could put deep pink stripes of material to cover the bad bits leaving the original pattern exposed still. Edd looks really brown 😮do you ever tan Anna lol 😚 love Emma the destroyer 's outfits and Charles looks happy 🤗X 🍷

the ornate bed frame with side pieces that you are saying may not work in this bedroom....I suggest a fabric covering on the back wall behind the side pieces or wallpaper......that will also coordinate the colors of the wood piece and bring this into the painted walls in the room......its so unique I think it deserves a special place

Maybe a coordinating small print for the footboard? I enjoy seeing the children. They are precious. Charles seems to be growing tall!

Hey guys - on the bed simply toss a pretty throw or Afghan over the hole! Part of its vintage! I love the furniture!!

sew some pretty cream lace panels over both ends to cover as wide as the existing panel is for symmetry leave the center and darn holes if you can. Or cover with muted velvet panels over rotted ends.

You can remove a section from inside (the good fabric) to make a patch to cover the damaged outside section.Then find a similar pattern to replace the inside good piece you have used. This will work and noone will be the wiser but you...

Thank you for introducing me to osmo wood finish. It's available to me through Amazon. I hope this is the same product I am excited to try it.

Think JMK has right idea to switch the fabric panels from back to front. Measure carefully. It would be a shame to lose the beautiful fabric to the inside of the foot panel. Thanks to Stephanie and Sean I am now a subscriber. Really enjoyed the episodes I've seen. Best of luck.

Amazing items. The fabric on the bed is stunning. In the future, I would Swap the inside footboard fabric for the outside and use the suggested solid on the inside.

I agree with you Ana, don't like the crackle finish and it has yellowed with age. I do however like the bed style and the fabric is gorgeous. I think that you could take parts from the cabinets and make a bed crown. I don't believe that the set is a vintage antique so I say paint it, you have nothing to lose. I am an Interior Designer and that bedroom is huge, it would have been a shame if you had put that bulky bed set in it, good luck! You have lovely children!!!
