The fines for bringing in biosecurity risk items, like fruits, vegetables, meats and seeds, have now increased from $360 to $2,440 with discretionary powers to increase that amount up to $20,000 depending on the amounts and concealment. Tourist, temporary student and work visas can now also be cancelled if they bring in banned items.

It’s okay to make a mistake, traveling is stressful but at least admit to your mistake. If they keep brining restricted items in then they most certainly deserve the punishment.

I thought, maybe they're concerned about cleanliness. That first trip in, I brought a few packs of instant noodles and boy, did I got in trouble. Instant noodles weren't allowed 30 years ago because they contain egg. Nowadays with Internet, it was relatively easier to search information on this and you can use Google Translate. She wasn’t turning in any of her assignments and told her employer that she could drop out of school anytime in order to work at her new job. So basically she got a student visa and had no intention of being a student. She couldn’t even tell what her classes were called. She should’ve had like dough rolling class or baking class or cake decorating class or whatever. Also the student was only going to classes for a couple hours 2 days a week. Nothing suspicious about THAT!!
