Borderlands High-Level Hunter Gameplay

In this video I'm racing a cave full of enemies to the end with two crates full of goodies. This area is an hour or two into the game. I'm on my second playthrough so things are higher level here.
I'm using a method here where a combination of skills and gear let me keep the hawk out nearly 100% of the time, keeping the enemies dazed, dealing high damage and bringing a portion of it back to me as health points. This not only deals massive amounts of damage but makes me nearly invulnerable. I manage to die once in the video because my hawk got stuck in the wall but the death barely even slowed me.

Mordecai is my character from the first BL. I am playing BL 2 and just finished the wildlife preservation mission. Needless to say I'm still feeling the effects. Mordecai is the best though!!

When there's an enemy with a lot of fire power and health (like brutes), scopes are invaluable. I use them in conjunction with the radar. I guess what the elevation of the enemy's head will be, leave my cover and try to put 2 or 3 in the head, get cover again and repeat. Going out and firing from hip will just have you with a lot of machine gun bullets in your chest.

The point was the ultra-fast recharge. I rarely took more damage at once than my shield can hold but because my shield recharges after every hit, I can take nearly infinite amounts of damage total. A big 1300 point shield takes like 30 second to recharge at this point, given that you don't take another hit during, which is very unlikely. A fast and small shield recharges to full in seconds.

It's randomized. There are 2, 3 and 6 shooter revolvers. I used revolvers for sniping jobs I didn't want to waste sniper ammo on during my first play-through. You'll see why that's past tense when you beat the game.

Found a 1200 capacity and 200 recharge shield shortly after, the one I was using was fairly outdated. I kept using that shield because the big shields had like 30 recharge which means once it's out, I need to wait fairly long before continuing. The shield in the video allows me to keep a lot faster pace since it often recharges between even the largest hits. Also, let me subtly remind you that this video was 5-6 days after release afaik.

@Ifyoukn3wIt youd think 2 bullets oh no!! but its ok because if you take certain skills you can get up to 70% reduced reload time, so it only takes about half a second to reload. its not even noticeable

I had a similar setup when i was trying to get the 2500 action skill kill achievement, the only downside is that it makes the game less engaging and your bloodwing ends up taking most of the kills, so your weapon skill level doesn't go up much.

@rockyheart609 dont think so. you dont need to stick with sniper weapons. i just play style with most fun factor. so if i like shotguns and bloodwing i use that combo :) my 5 cents.

I get 35% of the eagle's damage back when he returns with the skill Out of Blood. A single hit by the eagle heals me to full but only when he when he returns to me.

to Floatharr, you need a heavier shield, and one more backpack SDU, you should have these things sorted out at lvl42.

by the way does the class mod: ranger mod affects the criticals on single player? or does it just improve the team criticals during a group game?

@askjeeves28 you can do a playthrough number 2, it restarts everything cept your stuff and you, and you restart the game, but stuff is like....lvl 35 and stuff in the beginner place instead of like 2, also, they have new names, better loot for your level and stuff, its how you get to 50

getting the talent that shoots 2 shots with pistol is kinda pontless b/c the best revolvers have 2-3 shots before you reload anyways, so you only have 1 shot left in your gun 33-50% of the time.

lol i was level 17, i want to skag gully doing the quest where you pick some flowers ,at the end is a red crate, i opened it, got a 217 shield with a 17 recharge time, and got a 115 damage sniper, i am level 25 now, i sold em long time ago, i also got one while in dr.zeds zombie island or whas it ned?....

Very unlikely. I was playing with a friend of mine who was a siren and my eagle did damage 2-3 times faster than him. With well thought out skills and the right equipment doing more damage might be possible but you'd be very fragile and have lots of downtime resulting in a slower overall time. Either that or you were 10 levels higher than the enemies.

I enjoy killing the enemies myself instead of letting my pet do it for me. I'm level 52 with 32 kills with Bloodwing. :D
