Honestly, I had a lot of reasons for hating the Knoxx DLC: drifters, driving, the arena, and side quests that force you back to areas you just went through (I *hate* that). What saved it (for me) was Crawmerax and the Farmory. Because of that, I would always skip it on PT1 and wait til PT2, whereas I would make sure to do the Zombie DLC after both (I would argue _that's_ actually the best DLC from the first game).

Nice review, totally agree on the points you make. Going up against the final boss can be a bit of a pain without perfect gear. This DLC made me want to actually play TPS again to level to 70 and actually get all my level 70 quest rewards and stuff from this DLC. Longtime supporter of your youtube and twitch :D

I am so glad this DLC turned out so well. Now Pre-Sequel will get a little bit more love and so will Claptrap, hopefully. Though honestly, even though the final boss took me a couple of tries, I didn't find him terribly difficult. My only issue with him is that sometimes there's too much crap going on and you can't see shit when you're downed. Otherwise it was a really great fight!

@@Eugene_TEC no the boss has 5 forms and the last regens his sheilds 3 times every biss is nasty hard even at the same level with leveled glutched guns in fac5 i have a level 37 auralia with all glitched level 37 weapons eos is level 36 on normal and he one shots me and i spent 1.5 hours getting his shield down and his attacks ARE CHEAP his laser death ray cannot be avoided unless you run around the map and if you run around the map you get raped by ifnifnite rockets and lasers and glitches and after 1.5 hours my fucking game froze. Bahroo is great bu5 hes wrong here this boss is not well made hes aweful and ive al.ost quit playing the gane seversl time because hes so impossibly hard to beat, terranourphous 2 levels above me was easier to solo.

Eclipse does literally 1000% more damage than any other enemy in the game (except for sentinel's strike-explosion which can oneshot anything). I spawned eclipse next to sentinel and he died in 10 minutes (without input from me). It only took that long because Eclipse had trouble hitting sentinel due to his massive hitbox. Given this I think that eclipse does too much damage.

Magic Gonads Ever try to melee Eclipse? His melee hitbox is only his feet. This makes it near impossible to use melee athena because you just zoom right through his body into the lava. ever. single. time. That's my bigger problem with the boss

This dlc also helps with the whole issue of corrosion not really being a big part in TPS an many of the enemies bring back this element.

Well, I've learned how to cheese the final boss. There's a tube with a jump pad inside of it, to the left of the entrance. Go inside of it, and try not to move out of it too much. Most of the bosses attacks can be pretty easily avoided, as long as you know how to think on your feet. Or rather, the air, I guess...

To short is my only gripe with it. Compared to all other DLC's for BL2. Also tip for the last boss, if you have bought BL2 and Borderlands 1 farm for a Shock Shotgun that you get from loyalty rewards. Normally that reward is only suppose to activate on a new character but it activates if you click new character but quit and go to your old character too. Bahroo did a vid on it.

I think that because TPS was a side-kick (or however you wanna call it) for the whole Borderlands Series/Main games (which would be BL and BL2) 2K Australia didn't want to make it like the best game, and keep it there so that BL and BL2 would still be the most played games of all 3 or something like that. BL got 3 Story DLC's, BL2 got 4 of those (+ Headhunters) and I hope that BL3 will get atleast 3 or 4 (maybe 5 if they get creative enough and doesn't repeat something old and common).

*_SPOILERS AHEAD, SHIELD YOUR EYES_* Ok, so i'm ashamed to admit to this, but might as well since we're on the topic of a raid quality boss. So, i haven't been playing TPS much as of late, so i still haven't finished TVHM with my Jack. I got impatient and decided to play Claptastic Voyage in normal mode. Bad idea. To make a long story short, i breezed through the story with ease, but when i got to the mecha suit version (whatever you call it) of Shadowtrap, i had a bit of a difficult time beating him, as i had lvl 36 gear at lvl38, facing off against a lvl 39 boss. I manged to kill him and was super excited, as he dropped the new legendary Jakobs revolver. And theeeeen, well, he came back as EOS. A lvl 38 jack... faces a lvl 40 boss that'd be tricky to kill with lvl 40 gear... but with lvl 36 gear. It took half an hour to drain his shield, and i got him down to 60% health, but then, of course, his shield regenerated. I rage quit, and when i returned to TPS later, i left the boss room. I still haven't managed to get back in. TL;DR: Difficult boss + Underleveled gear = Bad time

groovylobster At least you were playing as Jack. I was melee Athena when I went up against EOS. Got my shit pushed in about half a million times. Eventually left, respecced into maelstrom and farmed for both a Viral Marketer and a Celestial Gladiator class mod. Wasn't too bad after I did that.

This dlc was amazing, I really enjoyed playing it. Final boss was a huge pain in the ass, spent nearly an hour trying to kill him. I will admit the ending cutscene did make me feel a little sad, it was hard to watch. (Won't spoil what actually happens). Anyway, excluding the final boss, this dlc is ROCK SOLID GOOD!

I like how the fact that the final boss is so hard, it makes up for the fact that they have no raid boss and I think that's why they made him so hard. But that leads me to another problem... Why not have a final boss AND a separate raid boss? I don't think 2k Australia can make big endgame bosses because, well they have only made 2 bosses and reused the first one for a end/raid boss.

Somewhere the characters said that they never actually encountered a raid boss, thats why athena had to create the invincible sentinel. So they kind of dug themselves a hole when it comes to raids.

I played through this DLC with my friend at UVHM at level 54 - 55 and it took us 1 1/2 hours to kill that damn boss. His first form was awful to beat. We got killed without knowing what actually killed us and imo he was pretty unpredictable. His second form was just annoying, it took forever to kill but wasn't a challenge. My friend and i were both the opinon that the boss somewhat ruined the DLC and honstly i expected more from the DLC in general, it took us 6 hours to play through it, without doing every single sidequest. The glitch weapons were kind of funny and interesting, but mostly useless, because the never really glitched in fights and every weapon glitches the same way. So no specialty there. All in all, i still think it was a good DLC, but not even close to the greatness of Tiny Tinas DLC. They could have done more out of it.

I think it would be a cool recurring feature to have arenas in different DLCs with different enemies, areas and modifiers. Seeing how they tied in the arena to this DLC I think it could be spread across whatever else they have planned.

i really like the bordelands series and i played all the games(not the crappy i-pad "legends" thingy) and I really have a lot of fun with it,I mostly go trough the story without playing too much attention to it ,but when i do pay attention I noticed its quite dark(sure there are funny joke's here and there) and if gearbox wanted they could just toss out the comedy part of it ,and make it a serious Bioshock level dark,creepy,psychotic storyline for this series.

The biggest thing I've disliked about TPS (aside from the obvious) involving the enemies and battle flow, was the way enemies spawn. You're never EVER in a safe area when they do. Step into a triggered zone, they spawn literally ALL around you, sometimes directly behind you out of thin air and shotgun/laser you into health gate. It's absolutely infuriating. That, and I've noticed any enemy with a laser type weapon that isn't a splitter, like a sniper/railgun is *insanely* accurate at all times. I can be flying through the air and be getting picked off with their perfect aim - and then have a DOT on me.

Absolutely loved this DLC. I really felt like they went all out .. especially with minute details like travelling through those data streams and having maps that made me feel like I was in the movie Inception. I also give it a 9/10. It's missing one point because I feel like the final boss could have had better lines near the end. I felt like he lost his composure a bit and that took some of the immersion out of it for me. He's supposed to be ominous and "shadowy" for lack of a better word. But this DLC is up there with Tiny Tina's for sure! If not a little better! Make more DLCs like this Gearbox!!

The arena could actually use a randomiser option for the mutators and modifiers on it - so you don't know what you are getting until the arena starts XD As for the final "raid" boss - yes it pissed me off on how annoying his attacks were at first, but there are about 3 spots in the arena where you can hide from all his attacks, until the third phase (Of EOS) when you have to keep cycling between them to avoid the mortars. Took a while to work it all out, but yeah, like you said - once you figure him out it was way easier. I'm just going through the side quests now, can't wait to see what they have in store.

About the final boss-- The flakker works very well against him. Assuming you're playing as claptrap. During the first half, it's pretty straight forward: just shoot him, just aim more upwards. For the second half, THE FLAKKER ACTUALLY REACHES! Just don't go too far off the edge.

I really like the Mutator Arena, it's very fun. It's a really good dome with nice enemy spawns and not too much or too less enemy spawns. I would really like to see some co-op content of this! I would LOVE to play this dlc, it looks amazing But the only reason I'm not willing to get it is the level increase that comes with it. For me, level increases were what killed BL2 for me. The scaling was broken beyond Lvl 50 so I don't want any level increase of any sort in my game

had fought UVHM EOS when the dlc came out took me forever since I could survive even with wilhelms termination protocol killing those flying bugs but he took soo little damage (even was using gibbed guns not modded just legendaries) finally got him with a maggie shot at like 4 am when I fought him

SPOILERS AHEAD I went through on normal mode with handsome jack at lv3 25 or 26 at a later 31 dlc. Manged to get far not to hard just ran out of ammo quickly do to how under leveled I was. I eventually caught up to lv 31 in the dlc Eni mies still 3 lvs higher and I am doing kind of good. My best wepon was th lv 16 moxxi wepon in the chest and that is how I beet his original just shadow clap self along with a glitch pistol because the glitch Jakobs flush rifle did not do much dmg along with the legendary savage fusillade. I went to his giant mech suit who was 5 lvs ahead of me and ran out of ammo and then got some for my laser used up all but 37 bullets in the laser to kill the mech suit. I was so happy and I seen he dropped basically nothing and no happy music or commentary played. The I hear him say something and turn into the EOS and I could not hit him with the laser and I could only hold 200 bullets for a pistol the base amount. Needless to say I was screwed from the start but I started to fight. Switched my laser to a 4 shot 6 clip blue Jacobs shot gun with base bullet capacity. I started to fight seen that I could barely hurt him but was like I want a challenge and what's the worst that can happen. Well the worst is he basically one shots me and I can't hit him with my main wepon and I get motion sickness vs him. So that is my story.

didn't see the stream. FYI, beam lasers like the Rosie & Vibra Pulse are utterly useless against the final boss. i learned that the hard way when i had a laser-build Wilhelm go through the entire DLC, until the final boss. other than that, i agree with this review. increadible DLC. well worth the $10. would be more than happy to pay beyond the season pass (which i have) for any other story DLC if it's at this calibre.

i actually found a way to beat shadow trap if your having problems theres a way to shoot through the shield that that separates you from the boss fight area and the respawn area you have to use the gun that you get as a reward from completing the minac mission in fyrestone that gun allows you to shoot through that shield so he wont be able to hurt you but you will be able to hurt him

The only reason I never have a problem with him is because for whatever reason, he loves to teleport half into a wall, get stuck, wont move or attack, and make easy crit shots with almost no effort. beat him first try because of this glitch and I laughed my ass off because of it.

my main gripe with the dlc is that Jack says it's a simulation of claptrap's mind then it acts like it is actually his mind for the rest of the dlc

All I can recommend for the final boss is use the basics eg shock for shield corrosion for armour and such because I was struggling using non elemental weapons

Claptastic Voyage is a very good chunk of dlc. Does it do enough justify the money I handed over for the season pass? No. I bought the Borderlands 2 season pass and got 4 separate volumes of new playable content that stretched the lifespan of the game by many hours. Fantastic! I really thought I got my moneys worth wit the BL2 dlc. So when I bought TPS I didn't think twice and immediately stumped up the cash for the season pass thinking it would be the same deal. I got ripped off. The Holodome was just plain awful, the 2 new characters should not have been part of the season pass but should have been sold separately and we could make a decision on whether we wished to purchase them or not. An entire Borderlands game without a raid boss. Unbelievable! When BL3 eventually comes there's no way I'll be buying a season pass unless Gearbox tell us exactly what I can expect from it up front. One more point. We were all expecting this dlc to be 5 gigs in size. It was half that. I know all the KZbin guys passed on this information in good faith but it clearly wasn't true. Where did the misinformation originate from? Was it Gearbox themselves? I'd like to know.

Tbh I think this DLC is the most fun out of any Borderlands DLC, sure it may not be as refined as some of the others, but I thought that the story and unique areas were awesome

Was a strange feeling playing pre-sequel & actually enjoying it it with this dlc , felt dirty lol . Would still choose normal gravity over low gravity Borderlands 10 times out of 10 but at least it's been made better use of in this DLC than the main game which had nothing but gaps to traverse . I still don't think it squares how shit the Hollowdome was & still feel screwed out of a piece of season pass pie with that .

I only tried once so far due to lack of time, but the final boss is very tough for me even on TVHM. I have amazing gear, but I still struggled. Got him down to about 1/3 of his health, but it really throws the kitchen sink at you. I will try again soon, though :)

I will admit that when people complained that the final boss of TPS was to easy they had the right to do that because he is but with EOS they went way overboard in terms of health for UVHM at least. I would like to see his health roughly halfed because if i remember correctly on stream u said he had close to 500 million health. And i feel like that is way too much just for one boss. I can understand the terms of a challenge but hell even 250 million health is more than enough of a challenge and less bullshitty plus it'll give new comers an easier time to because not everyone will see vids like these so they will be running in blind and getting slaughtered especially if they play with friends. Thats really all I'd like to see is his health roughly halfed but other than that.... rooGood,

Ok here is a question. Tale tell games did from what ive heard and seen, an awesome job with tales from the borderlands. Your thought of they should not outsource borderlands to other companies, do you still say that when you compare tales in with the outsourced material? Also what if we outsourced to tale tell for a dlc to one of the borderlands, either tps or bl3, do you think it would be worth it then.

Tell tale does rich, story-driven, episodic games. Thats what tales of the borderlands is. Bahroo was referring more to the actual shoot and loot series when he said Gearbox shouldn't outsource borderlands. I doubt tell tale would make a good DLC, because fast-paced shot n loot fps games arent their thing. Maybe if they ONLY wrote the story.

Another little thing that I would hit upon is the amount of new enemies, there were only really 5 or so new ones that kept getting renamed and reused. Other than that very enjoyable DLC

Also one thing you didn't mention is that slaughter dome thing where you can set the challenge and difficulty (forgot the name). You can get good rewards from it.
