Cracking video as allways Dave....glad to hear your feeling better. That sunset was beautiful mate....loved it. Shame about the sunrise. I know what you mean by the difference in hight with the tent. I use my southern cross on all my camps but wanted a lighter summer tent so I did consider the akto but eventually bought a Nordisk Telemark 2.2 LW. The room is amazing for a tent thats under 1 kilogram but like the Akto....the hight isn't that impressive compared to my southern cross. Probably keep it for summer camps as intended. Thanks for watching Mick , took an age fir the chest to clear up . Always good to catch a decent sunrise , I couldn’t have done a winter in the Akto as too low fir my liking . Southern cross looks a solid tent but very difficult to get hold of . As always appreciate your comments , take care Dave ⛺️👍

Really enyoyed this video Dave, simple, easy to do, and no dramas, real chill out time, had to laugh when you taking pictures of the rocks, I walked the Pennine Way in 96 and made it my project to take every picture that was in Wainwrights book of the Pennine Way by Derry Babbs, 7 bloody years I searched for that picture of the rocks on Kinder Scout , 7 bloody years, he'd only gone off route to take the photo but glad it didnt take you that long 🤣🤣thanks Steve the Bolton Wanderer 🥾🥾🎪🎪🍺🍺

Nice one Dave, can’t believe you sold it though 😎😎 I sold mine a few years back and have just purchased another to go alongside my Unna, I love the light weight and strength of the Akto, being 5’8” helps though with the headroom. Keep well mate and see you on the next one. Tony

Nice one Dave, loved that spot you pitched at! The Akto will take a beating and keep you safe, no doubt about that but for the long dark nights it's not a tent I'd favour - I'd prefer something with more space for better liveability. It looked great in the night shots tho. And a cracking good sunset mind! Wow!! For me it's the freezing winds that I don't like on the dark nights - think I'll be sticking to woodland/forest/sheltered coastal camps until the winds die down. Turning into a Geordie wimp lol. Good idea with the Hille zip covers, I'm guessing sometimes it must sound like Santa's sleigh is nearby with all that jingling 😅 Cheers Dave atb :)

It was a short lived purchase , bought in March , used once then sold it 😂 you will see my replacement in my new vid and it cost me a 1/4 of the hillys cost .. it’s too low no headroom , flaps watter all over ya and rattles lol ….. it’s gone. no more never again …. he says . still it was a lovely camp with a great sunset . long nights from now on and that wind chill is a killer eh tfw atb Dave

Sorry Dave, been out of the loop with KZbin for a bit now - this is the first of yours I've caught up with in a while. And doesn't disappoint - great to see you out, even if obviously a little knocked for six on he health front. Hope things are getting better all the time. A shame you didn't take to the Akto second time round, but I can see how the low profile is a challenge - I have an Enan which as you know is virtually identical. Dropping the inner when not sleeping helps a little with headroom, and also not tightening the side guys too much, as they tend to pull the pole down lower (and I also bent one out of shape doing this). But yeah, whichever way you look at it, it is 'snug'. I wonder if the heavier Soulo may suit you better for this sort of windy , exposed, but not too physically challenging overnighter? The difference in headroom is significant I find, loads more manageable. Anyway - enjoyable as always. Merry Chrimbo to you and yours sir. Rich. 👍

Nothing to be sorry about Rich, chest infection lingered for a while but cleared now 🥶 regarding the Akto i rewatched videos if mine and sort of glorified it a bit. But your right if you over tighten the centre pole it drops the headroom . Any way I sold it and bought the helm 1 compact and iam happy so far . Have a great Xmas atb Dave ⛺️👍

I actually prefer the Winter wild camping, as there are far less people around! Just treated myself a new ‘20 degree’ (aka -6) down sleeping bag in preparation for the freezing temps ahead.. really looking forward to trying it out in subzero conditions. 😁 ⛺️❄️

Belting looking spot to pitch that Dave. I have only ever seen one Hilleberg in the flesh and that was an Akto. It looked very well made, better than my Scarp anyway, I do like a roomy tent for the long winter nights though. I'm crap at night shots but the ZV-1 works pretty good I've found. I should really try a night lapse on the Go Pro though......never done that. ATB pal. 👍

Four weeks for me since I was in the lakes and desperate to get out hiking again. Sounds like you got a bit of a bargain from eBay, not the tent I would pick but so what, every one to their own. Those even skies were stunning and you were in the prefect position to enjoy them. I like fingerless gloves as well, so much better to use the camera equipment but man 18.00 and pitch black, a real long night indeed and too much tent time for me. You did get some amazing night skies, just a shame it could nit do justice to the Milky Way. To be fair the morning was not that bad and still have some great colures, I bet you were pleased to get out again, cheers Alan

It’s not the tent for me either Alan as I sold it on my return 😂 , too low , too flappy and too much condensation . So I I have gone budget on a tried and tested tent , the Helm compact 1 . I was out in it last night for another cold windy camp 🥶 and I was impressed 👍 Still I enjoyed my Akto tent barring the tent , lovely sunset and plenty of tent time that’s for sure . Tfw atb Dave

Your roof looks quite flat, looks like you been overtightening the guylines. When I tighten the guyline, I keep a hand on the pole so that it doesnt move, otherwise you lower the roof and weaken the structure.
