I saw them play this live many years ago at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley Calif and I think I cried, it was so beautiful. One of my absolute favorite chunks of music ever.

Yep, me too. Had the joy of being a friend & roadie (amateur) with them many many times, and I never tire of this, and I view it as the apotheosis of cooperative musicianship. The full version on Woodshop is remarkable, as the last 60 seconds does several important overdubs, including Mike's splendid percussive mando chops, and Darol chopping and harmonizing.

To be those lucky folks just sitting at the same table. Man. This makes me want a mandocello more than ever!

Darol Anger may be the most amazing "rhythm" fiddler ever. And I just love Mike Marshall. Great post...thanks!
