I believe this was circa 98/99 when the tories were basically unelectable and it was the new Labour wave. I think Boris is late 30s here. I remember watching this at the time and subsequent episodes with Boris. He seemed to stop when he became mayor. If you’d have said he’d be future PM I don’t think I’d have bet anything on that. I can’t think of a more accidental PM in U.K. history

Meanwhile Mr Johnson , having served 2 terms as the Mayor of London, has been grappling with achieving Brexit and running the country as Prime Minister, through convid-19 , which put him in intensive care , because he went round the country trying to rally the population. And Hislop and Merton are still in the same jobs, earning a fortune by taking the piss out of politicians; but not having progressed to jobs needing them to assume responsibility.

@@MrCalypso2 . Come on. In any organisation, people who carry on doing the same job usually are recognized to have reached their level and have not got the ability to take on greater responsibility. I fact the chairman , of HIGNFY lost his job as chairman of that , and Would I Lie To You, and was replaced by people who did a much better job, Hislop and Merton repeat the same old performances of criticising others like medieval fishwives,

@gnu_andrew . But the rest of my comment is valid. Now about intensive care beds. Boris, and the people that he shook hands with, might have been covering their hands with 70+ alcohol gel, for all we know. As for his 3 days , in intensive care , would you have had him die. To imply that he "did not actually need it " is stupid, wicked or what you will. How many people , who spent time in intensive care had acted irresponsibly ? For instance, how about those that had been grossly overweight, for years ? Should they have been occupying beds that could have been used by others ?
