These politicians don’t mind locking people down and destroying their jobs and their lives, crushing small business into the ground and using an ever more militant police to enforce these rule while all the time ignoring these rules themselves. This virus has given governments worldwide the perfect opportunity to show their true colours and establish they are the ruling class and we are their plebs, people are starting to rise up and not only these rules but this growing attitude of contempt and disdain for the people. Far too complex of a decision for the general public to understand let alone take on and vote on, and far too divisive for the Country in the final result. Should have required a 75% vote for leave or remain from a larger number of people, in order for that to be followed through. Or abandoned. A delicate balance was struck to appoint a Labour speaker who would be less interventionist than Bercow and thus more amenable to Tory backbenchers.Sir Lindsay is technically proficient in House rules but hasn't got a handle yet on Johnson's ducking 'n diving. When he learns to impose discipline and order on the PM then he will join the ranks of the great Speakers such as George Thomas or Betty Boothroyd.

Bercow liked the sound of his own voice and destroyed convention to elevate his own views in the house. I want to hear my MPs debate, not the speaker pontificate. I quite like Hoyle, hes witty without being a vanity ridden egotistical mouthpiece like Bercow. Bercow objected to Trump as the President of one of our closest allies, the USA, speaking, but rolled out the red carpet for the President of China's visit, along with those two other pudding faced numpties Cameron and Osborne.

@@shelleyphilcox4743. And it would seem he's perfectly right about Trump. He's a criminal, with literally dozens of cases and potential court cases against him. Berrow wouldn't let Johnson get away with anything, Hoyle let's him lie continually.

@@shelleyphilcox4743 you’re so right; with Berkow one almost got the impression that, within the House of Commons, it was he and not the Government Front Bench that was in charge. At least Hoyle isn’t so ignorant of the Constitution, albeit unwritten, to believe such nonsense; nor to believe that in the UK it is Parliament and not the Prime Minister who is sovereign.

PMQ is a set time period and that had now ended. The speaker deemed the issue to be a point of order not a question. Therefore it was not a question to be answered and so he was to stay seated.
