In the deep south planting them 6" deeper than they are set in the nursery containers can help ensure stability and root hardiness since we don't have ground freezes. Also, the truck will produce roots along any section that is buried, or lays on moist soil :)

the thing is, they sell "Giant Elephant Ear" bulbs at Lowe's and HD every year here but the picture is Colocasia esculenta (probably Jack's Giant) so who knows what you're really getting.

I have a couple in my garden here in NW Florida, Navarre beach, which is a half mile from gulf and they do well I don’t take them out of ground even after 3 nights this past winter getting down to 25 F for a coupe of hours. Cut back leaves but coming back strong now in late April

Question? I bought two in small pots I repotted them into bigger pots. They are now growing what seems like out of control 😆 there’s at least 10 - 12 leaves in each pot. Not sure what to do with them. Repot or just leave them to their own devices 🤷🏾‍♂️

I have a smaller variety that grows up to 5 to 6 feet. I overwintered 7 of them as rhizomes and planted them on my 10A property. Let's hope they will grow some leaves and survive. Did you buy them locally?

Beautiful plants ! I bought a corm, bulb, tuber, whatever that I need to get started probably yesterday so I can get some decent growth on it this year. It’s a small bulb so I’m not expecting much this year. It is a Borneo giant so maybe in the future it will get big. I’m glad that they can take full sun in my humid climate, I was wondering about that and now you’ve answered my question, thank you. 🪻🌷💚🙃
