Thank you for sharing these precious clips which are bringing back a lot of memories not only to the Vietnam Era veterans but also to many people living in the South esp. Saigon back then. I grew up when the war was over. I feel very lucky to survive it! I wish you good health, Mr borntowarnder !

Hi Mr. borntowander. Thanks for posting this video(s).If I'm not mistaken,I worked in this hangar back in 1970.Our group was the 1st M.I.B.A.R.S. and we flew U-6 Beavers. Our Flt.Ops office was located on the runway side of the building. Our HHC was located at Muscara Compound about two miles outside of TSN Airbase at 121 Chi Lang St.(now called Phan Dang Luu St.)I recently checked the latest Google maps and found that the hangar and Muscara compound are now gone.Again,Mr. borntowander, thank you.

Thank you borntowander, you brought me back to some good times, I was in the army, and from , 1972 to 73 , I worked for the CAC, command aircraft company, ( long trip) taking care of the King Airs, Iam sure we crossed paths at the hanger at one time or another and we all talked to the NHA guys, Ive got some pictures of you guys working on a Queen Air , Ive been trying to plan a trip back , I would like to see if the house I lived in on trung minh Ky is still there. thank you very much,

At 4:12 of this video , a U-6 Beaver can be seen sitting inside of the Hangar . I'm guessing that this aircraft and the two jeeps to the left of the hangar door belonged to our aviation detachment . I'm sure this was the hangar where I was stationed . I have searched google maps but it's no longer there . I wanted to go back and see it and Muscara Compound is Saigon where our H.H.C. was located , but sadly , both has evidently been demolished .

Hi, Mr. Borntowander . The offices and workrooms were also used by us , 1st M.I.B.A.R.S. We were an aviation detachment for our company . I was there from 70' to 71' . We shared the hanger with a group that flew U-21 's.

When we (1st MIBARS)used the hangar up until at least 1971,it was called the USARV hangar and was shared with a group that flew U-21s and storage for damaged army aircraft .The offices and storage area to the left as you entered from the runway(north) side, were used by us,and the C.O.of our detachment was Capt. Carr, and later on,Capt.Jacobowski.Hey,Sp.5 Cox,remember when that newby 2nd Lt. almost stalled our plane as we entered a cloud bank as we took off?I was forced to remind the new pilot that we were stalling as I took over the controls to regain airspeed.Nearly got us killed! That was the most scared I ever been in my life.

Wow! At EXACTLY the shot in the beginning of this clip showing where the former USAF base side gate was... i crashed my motorbike 5 years ago- into that central reservation. I was unconcious and really beat up. I still have big lump on my head to prove!!!

Hi there, I don't recall the 1ST MIBARS at all, CAC (command aircraft company) took up every reventment with the U21, (UTE) NHA, had the hanger full of the queens . , Borntowander would know more,He worked on that stuff, I just maintained the UTS. I was shipped out march 1973, shortly after they were all flown to Thialand. Iam sorry i dont recall the 1st MIBARS must of just been before i got there in september of 1972Dennis

Hi again , Dennis . I've since learned that our unit ( 1st MIBARS ) pulled out of Vietnam shortly after I did in March of 1971 . If you will take the time to view the video again , the silhouette of a U-6 Beaver can be seen in the hangar doorway . I believe the jeeps to the left of the hangar door belonged to our group as well . Anyway , thanks for your reply . Take care..

Hi Dennis,do you know if the 1st MIBARS was still using the Hangar during your time there?I remember another group that flew U-21s and also the Army stored damaged unserviceable aircraft there.
