How many Boro fans wished they were back at Ayersome park? I'm a Manchester City fan and would go back to Maine Rd tomorrow! Had a few lively trips to the Boro' back in the day. Yous also got a lovely welcome when you visited sun drenched Moss Side! Always liked Boro' fans and people, came for a night out there back in the early 90s to a club called Empire I think. @Sam93Brown as an away fan it was a real intimidating place to go,boxed in by little side streets,and those boro fans made one hell of a noise.riverside is half empty and lacks any atmosphere at all,same as most of these new grounds plus the real fans are priced out of the game now,glad i followed footie in the 70s and 80s they were truly the best days

Us boro fans trying to make the riverside as loud but it will never be the same i was never around to watch a game at ayresome park but my dad was and he said it was a ground that he wishes he could of took me to and that he agrees the riverside should of been built smaller and more unique

As a Millwall fan who watched gis first game in 1962 this makes me, metaphorically, weep, as you HAD,loke us , a GREAT atmosphere but now like Millwall you have a soulless,silent,sanitised All Seater Stadium (ASS )...

Some great times at the old ground but we've had some cracking times to equal them at the Riverside. If we were there now people would complain how shoddy it was, got to move on lads.⚽️🏐

"move on" implies "progress" so you lose 80% of your famed atmosphere for some nice seats and toilets.....great :(

Well, you know, my friend as you are there but I have only to look at the scenes at The Holgate End to see what a great atmosphere it could be.I missed 6 Home games at The OLD Den @ Millwall between December 1962 until they moved to a sanitized All Seater in 1993 and the fervour, passion, and atmosphere is a pale imitation of how it was when we broke the league record going 59 unbeaten at Home between 1964-66. lol.. I only go twice a season now including local rivals Crystal Palace at home in The Cup on the 6th January :)

@@Isleofskye It was the right time to move and 95 to 98 was a fantastic time to be a Boro fan, new ground, promotion,cup finals,world class players, wouldn't change it for anything. Grounds are what you make them,it's not the design it's the fans that give it history and character. Miss the terraces though,all the best you Millwall lion.👍

Thanks, My Friend. You are right. The salient point is the terraces. It is the standing that makes the difference which, of course, is why so many fans still stand especially Away from Home.. The layout is important though as Millwall fans like the old West Ham (up to 1990 long b4 their move from Upton Park?) were right on top of the pitch and,of course, like-minded fans used to stand and sing with each other and back in the 1960's/1970's used to switch ends at halftime :).I loved Millwall/Boro games and both sides kept winning at home... I have still got a football programme somewhere showing The Ayresome Angels Good Luck ..

me and my mate was on the holgate roof 1 day i think it was agaisnt chelsea .on a saturday there was a program called shoot on .and on the night you seen the matches what got played and at half time the reporter for the game said THEM TO YOUNG LADS GOT THE BEST SEATS HERE HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA i coudnt belive it .the next day everywere i went it was did ya see ya self last night on the tele......FUCKING GOOD OLD DAYS CANT BEAT EM
