Ok, at the opposite end of the of the scale, *what to buy for minimal outlay?* Playing since February. I invested my global xp into the Massachusetts and not getting on that well with it. I used a discount 70 coupon on the Nelson and enjoy it. I’ve only got a Zuiho at tier V. Nothing at tier IV. I’m waiting to see what this week gives in the way of Drachmas - to either obtain the tier IV Rio or enough to get the VII Georgia (hopefully contrast enough to Massachusetts). And I’ve *picked up another 70 off coupon.* I played the UK BBs and enjoyed those up to VI. Then lots of CVs then got bored. Then the American BBs are cool, I’m liking New Mexico but not Tennessee as much. Then enjoyed any of the DDs where there’s smoke, torpedoes longer than detection. And I’m grappling with trying to like cruisers (the class I thought I’d love yet actually get trounced - bar the De7 with a 3.3k base game). Help advise anyone?

I don’t think that 70% coupon is gonna help you with any of these ships available for Drachmas, so I’d advise looking at something on sale in the store for doubloons.

@@Xarkun thanks. I think there was a V destroyer for Drachmas. Is tier Vii just a case of getting used to it, and therefore Massachusetts is still the best bet? Bit of ramble… I wish I was more confident in cruisers and grab the Belfast, but beyond the odd good match and oddball fun in De7, my only enjoyable & fruitful cruisers are Leander and Fuji. The Omaha has been painful, as too the French & Russian ones. Both lines of JPN feel like pushing water up the hill, killing 2 ships per match but losing a lot - I’m rubbish at pushing in and pushing them back. Nice vids!

admiralty backing will give 3000 plus the 1500 from without admiralty backing...overall if you spend 2500 doubloons you can earn 8000 drachmas enuf to buy any of the other 3 T7 in store...

I think it’s 3000 total with admiralty backing unless I’m just reading the patch notes wrong. So by my calculations that’s only 6500 “free drachmas” with campaign, calendar, and web event. I will have to reread everything to see if I’m right. I’ll try to remember to do that later.

⁠@@Xarkun its 4500 with admiralty backing, counted it myself. The picture for all campaign rewards in patch notes shows 4500 drachmas, add in the 1500 from calendar and 2000 from treasure hunt which equals to 8000

Admiralty backing brings among all 750 gold back, so the cost would be 750 gold less.

The Borodino would have been a nice campaign ship but it ain't worth the pay wall that it's been placed with, so for me, it's an easy hell to the no.

I wouldn’t go for it either, to be honest. It’s fine. It’s cool. It’s even good. But I don’t think it would be worth it for several thousand doubloons.

How would you recommend the new British DD commander?

I’ll try and get a video up with that commander, but I think it’s a good commander. Gives you Observant Range in the first slot and that other skill whose name escapes me at the moment. It’s the one that reduces main battery reload time and extends range. Then it has perceptive and twist and track, so it’s a real gunboat commander in a way that Vian really isn’t. And the high tier British DDs have really good guns, so this is a good commander for them.

@@Xarkun Thank you for the verdict, I'll be waiting for that video, It just bothers me that there will be only 2 DDs that most players will play most, the Daring and Lightning. Do you think they will release any new British DDs? I guess maybe Somme but I hope we get an exclusive.

In my opinion? Yes. I think Georgia is one of the best BBs at T7. It doesn’t have radar like Borodino does, but it has bigger, more impactful guns; it’s faster, and it doesn’t have the issue of having an overmatchable bow and stern. Also, I’m pretty sure if you grind out all the free drachmas, you’d have enough to get Georgia without doing anything besides buying the admiralty backing for the campaign.

yes. everything that Xarkun said and more. Georgia is better than Borodino. plus has more powerful AA. I took Georgia out yesterday and with the playerbase as is Georgia make them pay. had a 180k game in first one out
