The Bosch 12 inch dual bevel glide miter saw is one of the very best saws that I have ever used. There maybe only one better saw out there, but it is over double the price of the Bosch.
The glide miter mechanism gives you the feel and ability of a slide miter saw without the huge front to back working footprint. This allows you to work in tighter spaces. Plus it makes this a viable saw for the workshop.

What a beast of a saw! The stand really sells me on it. Mobility is key to any great tool.

The stand really makes this a viable jobsite option. I recently saw this saw at Home Depot with the lowest price I have ever seen it for.

I got mine about three years ago and it is the best. I love that saw. Brian got so tired of me talking about it that I think he went out and got one just to shut me up. LOL!

Nice review and walkthrough. I actually found mine in the dumpster at my job site. It works but the arm that the motor is attached to is broken so I’ll be looking for a new arm for it. Needs a blade guard too.

No way dude, what a come up. Weird that someone threw it away. It seems like the type of person who would buy something like this would also be the type of person that could fix it or at least would be open to looking into fixing it. But hey, one person’s loss is another’s gain right? Cheers

@@justinkinter8651 ikr I guess it’s the society we live in. If it’s broke just throw it away and don’t fix it. I bought all the parts that were broken and/or missing so now I have a completely operational saw.

You say this Bosch Saw is good and I purchased it on your recommendation but, have you measured the deflection when using it. I’m curious to know if you like many other owners have the same problem. Set the saw at 90° and cut a 12 inch piece of wood. It may be 90° at the fence but it is never 90° at the end of the cut. I called Bosch several times and there is no adjustment for this. The arms have too much play or deflection. Let me know if you have the same problem Thanks, Mitch

Excelent saw, however ibought the miter saw Dewalt DWS780 because the low price is very significant for my budget. Congratulations for this video. Best regards from México guys.

Simple question for you.... if you had a choice between the GCM12SD and the DWS780, which would you go with? FYI, I don't see myself taking it out of my workshop. Thanks!

I like the accuracy of the DWS780. The Bosch Glide is not as accurate to me.

@@WorkshopAddict Thank you so much for the reply. I love Dewalt and it would be a no brainer for me, except I have limited space and I just love the idea of that damn arm on the Bosch. Now that you said it doesn't cut straight it makes me worry haha.

WSA. “ Not as accurate to me “? Accuracy is not a personal or subjective issue. if the bosch is not as accurate as say the dewalt , then ,ease state the difference .
@DaCake2
@DaCake2 5 жыл бұрын
Sirios Star I don’t think he meant it subjectively. Sounds like he’s trying to say plainly that it’s not as accurate as the dewalt.

I thought I would let people know, the small holes in the base can be tapped with an m8 tap. M8 adjustable feet are plentiful and cheap, and make great leveling feet.

The red 'locking' pin on the blade does not lock.. I have to hold it. Is that how it's supposed to work? Had to use an extension pipe on the hex wrench to get the blade bolt out.

Can you cut 6" baseboard vertical against the fence and make miter cuts both ways?

Damn Brian it looks like Jon is more excited about your new saw that you are lol ;-) That's one sweet saw I hope you have been enjoying it! I bet you have been loving having it on the gravity rise stand those things are the best, my Ridgid 10" table saw and 7" wet tile saw are both on stands like that and I love it makes them nice and easy to move!

I like the idea of using a chop saw for fine cutting (i. e. furniture). Have you checked the accuracy of it's angles (90 degrees especially)? I returned a Ryobi slider because getting a right angle was impossible - went with a standard DeWalt saw.

BTW, this saw is $800 Canadian ($US690) at the local Home Depot! Might have to stick with a really big sled on my Sawstop.

WorkshopAddict I love my Sawstop. However, I only started woodworking when I retired. I also am a major klutz, so I figured that one of my fingers was worth the extra cost. I’m also lucky that I have the resources to buy lots of nice equipment that makes up for my lack of experience. I bought the 3 HP Professional and as a cabinet saw it’s a champ. My skills don’t warrant such a nice saw, but I’ll get there!

Nice review, thanks for uploading. What brand and model is the "quite" blade with more tooth you are mentioning?
@WorkshopAddict
@WorkshopAddict 9 жыл бұрын
justRijk The blade that I was mentioning is the Hitachi 726101 90 tooth tungsten carbide tipped 12 inch ATB. That blade was great. I now have a 80 tooth Irwin Marples blade that is okay, but not as nice as the Hitachi. If you are interested in the Hitachi, you can get it here on amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HKB42/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0006HKB42&linkCode=as2&tag=worksaddic-20&linkId=3SA7JTKJXOWEVED3

WorkshopAddict Thanks, that's a quick reaction :). I ordered a GCM 12 GDL. It comes with a 305 mm 2 608 642 103 blade (72 tooth). First i have to try it, but if i don't like the blade it came with i want options. The Hitachi is on my shortlist.

WorkshopAddict Got the Saw today, it's huge. Carrying it isn't nice, the weight, yes it's heavy, but what is really annoying. When picking it up on the handle the machine tilts and does it in such a way, my hand sort of got jammed between the handle and the arm. They should have balanced it better. I checked the machine, and on the blade, one tooth is damaged. I can only find pics from the side of the Hitatchi. Does it have straight teeth. Like my fav. now: www.ecotools.nl/zaagblad-305-vd/

More tooth is not always better. Different blades for crosscutting and rip cutting. Look at Infinity Tools. Their blades are pricey, but if you use the right blade for the right job they are the best.

I feel like there should be more emphasis on the reason you get the SLIDE over the glide: the glide has a very short depth of cut on the right hand side of the blade.

DungTrumpet The 10 inch is basically the same saw as the 12". In fact, the 10" looks funny because it basically takes the 12" and bolts on a 10" guard. Other than blade prices, there is no advantage to the 10" because of that.

I got this saw and i found the middle of the base was higher of the sides with a about up to 1/2 of cm, I got in touch with bosch, their answer was - it's not approved for warranty, because it's in the factories margin of error, as this saw is made for to take to job sites, and not for fine woodworking. What it ended up to be the problem that the base got a crack, so basically this saw is not made for job sides due too poor material quality.
