Thank you so very much for your patience. We watched the entire video, and as soon as you said, "we got it running," I went over and poured some water into the basin and sure enough it worked.Thank you very much for saving me a service call. And as the lady below writes, "how did we know when we purchased a Bosch dishwasher that we would become experts at repairing them. I do have to say, the president of the company in Michigan, is a fair guy and generous. When we got ripped off here in Northern Virginia, he wrote us a check to offset the rip off charge. And we do love this dishwasher, even though it can be a pain in the neck. Thank you again for your video! Jim

James Finkle thanks for the comment on this. I'm sad to say that I never published a follow-up video to this. We were eventually able to come up with a comedic way to make this thing work. Basically you close it, listen for the sump pump to run its first cycle. Wait for it. It starts grinding on its second cycle and then you simply open and close the door. And then it just works. The water starts coming in and the cycle finishes. We actually still have this machine installed in our kitchen. It isn't perfect, and it isn't even the best dishwasher I've ever had, but at this point since it's working I'm not going to spend the money to replace it.

Thanks from yet another Bosch operator! I poured water into the bottom tray and then all of the sudden it woke up and said that it dreamt that it was stuck in the draining cycle and couldn't restart no matter what buttons where pushed. I said you had a bad dream now get back to work.

If the dishwasher can not empty the sump on start up it will skip the wash cycle entirely and the indicator lights will jump from ACTIVE to CLEAN. So first check that the filter and drain are clear of debris. Still not emptying? Pull out the white stopper from the sump so you can check there is nothing jamming the drain or the drain pump impellers. You may have to go underneath and pull the drain pump to inspect (have a towel ready!). Paper, hair, fish bones, and broken glass can work their way past the filter and jam the impeller. If a glass breaks during a wash, always check the baskets, tub bottom and filter for missing pieces.

I had same problem. Easy fix. I put 1 quart of water into the bottom. Started cycle and it worked. No need to try and start stop it 15 times. The first time I only put 2 cups of water and it didn't work. Then with a full quart. Started right up.

Thanks Robb. An even easier fix that has worked for us for years now is to push start. Close the door - listen for the first sump pump cycle (about 10-15s). It stops. sump pump starts again - at that point - open and close the door. Voila. Cycle starts. Works every time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the reply. I did eventually come up with the same exact strategy that Heather came up with. Wait for the second sump pump cycle and then open and shut the door. We ended up having some further problems with the machine and invited a tech to come over and help us out. Unfortunately I was out of town when he visited, but I understand that he connected something up and 'reprogrammed it' which in fact did do something positive. I have had to do "the dance" once or twice since but it has been quite consistent since the reprogramming. Terrible machine. I had a very funny exchange by email with another youtuber who has the same model. It is at least some comfort to know that others share the misery of this product. And how about that beeping!!

We have had this same problem!! What seems to have worked for us...Our console is on the outside. Press start. Wait to hear pump running. open the door when you hear the pump running. reshut the door. Usually after I reshut the door this second time I will hear the water start to flow and then the cycle starts. I've called for repair and their recommendation is to reboot by turning off the breaker. If you have had a better solution I would love to hear it!!

Anyone know what to do if the input valve functions fine but the machine is not starting. The light comes on but no water starts pumping.

Y did try like 200 undread times, it to hard understand that is not running? Crazy make me go out of minde! It doesent not fucking work call the repair man! What you fing just doing openand close it gona work?
