Bosch Dryer E90 Fault : Real Fix

My Bosch dryer (just out of warranty of course) was starting to 'misfire'. I would hear the "click-click pause pause" repeat five times and it would throw an error code. Some times it would start ok, other times click-click a few times and start. It was definitely unpredictable and would 'misfire' more often than not. When I started to disconnect the connectors from the module, I was surprised at how many points of failure these connectors presented. After looking for physical problems on the board and not seeing any, I decided to get out the soldering iron and lightly 'tin' both sides of the PCB contacts to help the connectors make a good connection. Once I got it back together, I've tried it a dozen times and no more 'misfires', just the click-click motor run. My thanks go to you Mr. Washy Washy for showing me how to get the dryer open and access the board. This saved me an expensive service call and I really appreciate your helpful videos and the effort you put into them.

This was my exact problem. A blob of solder and I'm back in business again. Didn't even need to buy a new board, just reconnected the dry arced joint and back to work.

Mine is only 2 years old and got the same E90 error. Followed the video and replaced a relay. The machine is now alive again.

Very helpful. I have a BOSCH, 4 times the relay's clicking sound, then E90. the board looks slightly different from what is shown in the video, but I disconnected all cables, took out the board and reassembled everything, problem solved. I assume after ongoing use in moist conditions, some connections might become loose from corrosion, just enough to cause an error.

Yes indeed. Moisture messes these up. A spray on coat might help to prevent future problems.

Thank You for such movie which helped me a lot and made the thing easy. In my case the relays were three, all fine but Ive found some weak joints, at least 4 but in total Ive fixed 9 just in case... Thank You!

Thanks for your clear and helpful video. I changed the hf46f-g 9h1-61, that seemed faulty and the dryer is working again...cross my fingers...but meanwhile, thanks for sharing

For anyone having this problem, you need to call in a Bosch technician. It's a faulty electronic board. I just had this serviced so this is the real problem and nothing else.

very helpful. Thank you. Is the relay you pointed out first also responsible for the door lock? With my E90 error it sounds like the lock isn't snapping into closed position (it sounds like it clicks twice, but the door lock click is missing) Thank you!

Why does a dirty door filter result in an E90 error if the problem is in the relay ? Cleaning the filter and the slot into which it is inserted will often clear an E90, seems odd.

Hello, thank you for the video. Could anything suggest that the engine relay in my case burned out completely (it was melted from the top) and even a part of the casing was damaged? And after replacing it with a new one, error code E90 is still present? I have about 5 short drum jolts (dryer startup attempts) and then it displays E90. Thank you in advanced for any suggestion.

@@staffanlundholm order just a power module. It is enough. In my case I changed the relay but it was not enough. There is a tiny little something (no-name) that is further on the path and it is impossible to find on the market and hard to change. I just order the power module and pin it up. It started to work. If not I would send the module back. Good luck.

Hello. My tumble dryer Bosch serie 4 has a Ph I label, and now the Ph 2 label has appeared. What is that? The machine dries well, all filters are cleaned. That mark appeared when the little one pressed something while the machine was running. Anyone? 😊

I have an IQ700 2019 dryer, I don’t understand how the front compressor cooling fan should work. And then I watch the end of the cycle 1 hour 30 minutes. the temperature is 61 degrees, and it is not turned on. Logically, it should be switched on in the second half of drying until the end of the cycle ?. Or on 5 min off.

Hi it will turn on and off periodically during the cycle. If its not working it will put out an error code

Hi sorry I don’t have the dryer anymore. I’d advise opening and checking it. Might be a loose solder on that relay.
