Nice video. These sanders are really ergonomic. Much like the festool. I bought the milwauki cordless sand and it just gave up the ghost with hardly any run time at all. So I was looking for a cordless 6 inch orbital sander. I did have the festool 150mm orbital sander 5. It got stolen so I started replacing tools. I noticed metabo have recently brought out the 150mm cordless orbital sander. These will be great for work on high up places. The problem with the milwauki is the attachment to fit dust collection. I sanded around some plastering where it blended with the painted work. The existing work was a bit crooked. I used a cordless hikoki vacuum with the corded metabo orbital sander. The problem I had was the dust collection kept falling off. The metabo corded sander works okay and comparing to the festool it probably doesn't have as good dust collection when attached to a vacuum. Although runs cooler or the festool gets more hot.

This Bosch is really impressive! I have the Festool RO 90 and it is a phenomenal machine but the Bosch is no slouch in comparison (I know, a bit apple & oranges). The price point, ergonomics, lack of vibration and performance make this one of my favorites. I used a cordless Milwaukee on a project and was shocked with the amount of vibration. It was awful. I have been curious about the Metabo HPT. Usually they make good products. 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing and watching.

@@garnerreviews I got the bosch in a promotion with battery and charger. Yes, A very nice tool. I used the corldess vacuum and an adapter. The dust collection is excellent. Hardly any dust on the surrounds of the pad area. The dust collection seems to be on par with festool which says a lot. Be interesting a cordless metabo. Oh yes, we don't have the hpt in Australia. Although I'm aware metabo and hikoki have amalgamated although they still make their own tools according to sales reps. The metabo cordless planer and hikoki cordless planer are identical apart from the colour. Thanks spell check colour is the correct spelling for Australia.

@@ron1martens Yeah the dust collection is definitely impressive. I really can't say enough positive things about this Bosch. The whole Hikoki/Hitachi and Metabo thing has definitely been confusing at times. I like both companies and enjoy their tools but a little more distinction between brand names would have been helpful. 👍🏻

I believe Bosch claimed and some have shown to provide 15min/Ah with this sander - so at least 1hr. Obviously the force used would change this either way, but it's super efficient!
@Richard-dd6sv2 жыл бұрын
Also, do you find the net style discs any better than the standard paper and grit style?
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
This sander is really impressive. I am not totally sure if the net style is drastically better or not. I think with some sanders with the correct dust collection and backing pad the net would probably be better. Mirka seems to have something really right with their sanders and net abrasives. I just honestly don't have enough experience to comfortably say right now. But it is definitely something I have been planning to explore in the near future. 👍🏻

Just grabbed this and the 12v version this past weekend. I was using the dewalt xr before that (which is a good sander), but the greater comfort to use these Bosch, made me post the dewalt for sale, lol

Such a smooth sander. How is the 12V one treating you? I am assuming it is as smooth as the 18V.

I’m one of those guys you mention, not on the platform, but feel it’s worth it. This is the only cordless ROS I have interest in and the only Bosch 18V tool I have interest in. I just wish I could find an adapter to use my LXT or M18 batteries on it.
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
I hear you on the adapter. It can be hard when one tool on a battery platform you don't use is so nice. There are some adapters out there, but my fear is that the additional thickness and weight would ruin the way this Bosch handles. 👍🏻

I usually go with Makita but thier cordless sander has been underwhelming, so like you said, free battery and a great sander I've got some Bosch. Love the way the dust bag attaches, very secure. The one on the Makita is too easy to knock off.
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
This Bosch is amazing and I am very impressed. Such low vibration, great balance and really great power. I don’t have experience with any of the Makita sanders, usually Makita is always a solid choice. Kind of a bummer that it was underwhelming for you. I believe they have some new sanders that are due to release soon if I am not mistaken. Hopefully they will be top notch!

My last job we strictly did remodeling and custom home projects. We did ALOT of sanding. We only used Bosch brand sanders. Just seemed to be noticeably better than any others we tried.

The 18v is the one to get- Incredibly good value. Love mine! Other's have recorded close to an hour of runtime with that Battery on high- which is Insanely efficient! Your arm will definitely tire out before the tool does 😅 Nice review!
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
An hour of runtime! 🤯🤯🤯 That is incredible. But Bosch tools are usually very efficient and well thought out, so I could see a runtime longer than I would have expected. And your right, no one wants to sand for an hour with no breaks. 😆

Dont the discs need to have punched holes in them for the dust extracter to work.
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, Great observation. Typically yes, but these sand discs are a net variety. So it is capable of drawing dust through the entire disc. No need to line up holes and in theory they are suppose to resist clogging so that they last longer as well. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching.

@@garnerreviews Yeah, once I started using the sandnet, I stopped using anything else. They do a great job and last a lot longer

Great video, One question: Can you give me an estimate of the total run time is for the 18 volt 4H battery is? I will be lightly sanding painted steel beams-just enough to create a profile for p pre-painting. Thank You
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I would say that depending on multiple factors I could see this running somewhere in the 20-30 min range. I haven't done a through run test, but Project Farm's channel may have. You can always increase the runtime with a 8.0 AH battery. It fits, but makes it a little unbalanced. On a flat surface it is probably manageable, but wouldn't be as pleasant working overhead etc. Hope this helps. 👍🏻
@chadwygal20772 жыл бұрын
@@garnerreviews Thank You, I considered the 8ah battery too , but I was also worried that it would be unbalanced. We will see how the 4h batteries work out. Thanks again for your video and comment.

I think individuals will have varying results depending on multiple factors. Have you achieved a full hour on a 4.0AH battery? Pretty awesome if you have. 👍🏻 Maybe I will set up a timer and see what I can get out of it.
@1barticus2 жыл бұрын
@@garnerreviews I never timed it but it last a long time. What I usually do is run it and change the battery every 30 minutes that way still has plenty of amps to drop on and as all cordless tools you always have two batteries so you can keep cycling power. You will be very surprised how long they last and how much torque this machine has
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
I used it for several large projects this summer and that is basically what I did. If you have two batteries and the Bosch Hell-Ion charger you can sand all day with ease. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.

The suction would have been just fine and the dust extraction would have been better had you been using punched sandpaper rather than a solid sheet. My two cents.
@garnerreviews9 ай бұрын
I don’t believe I was using solid sheet in this. I was either using a net style or hole punched. Honestly this sander works phenomenally well with my Festool dust extractor. No complaints from me. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.

This one is a lot more powerful!, as compared to other 12V version in regards to power ! The 12V battery 🪫 2.0Ah is not that powerful!?? In contrast 🤔😕🥺🤦🏻♂️
@garnerreviews2 жыл бұрын
The 18V is definitely going to have more power. The 12V could be handy for quick sanding sessions where weight is a great concern. Maybe having to sand a small area overhead. What do you think?
