All about the box. Used to build boxes for friends and stuff and worked with loads of cheap gear. I mean, Who listnens to music at 140db? If you do you won't for long anyway. You really don't have to spend thousands if you're not competing. I've found boss to be a surprisingly solid "bang for watt" product. The key is, you have to IGNORE their ratings. So for instance, tell yourself that the RMS of these are say.. 500 watts. THEN, compare them to other similar sized speakers making that same true power. When looking through those lenses, and comparing them against those similar products, I've been surprised a few times from boss - particularly in their marine line. Boss also has one of the best warranties in the audio industry. The same can be said about their amplifiers. Take their 4000 "armor" watt sub amp which sells for like $150 and really mentally think of it like as a.... 400-500 watt amp (it's laughable how off their ratings are). But as a $150, 400-500 watt true RMS @ 4ohm amp, it's pretty darn good!! (pulled those numbers from "BidDWiz") Or to make it really easy, as Parker pointed out, keep it "in the family." So pair up their "4000" watt sub to their "4000 watt" amp and you'll be fine. Because both are overrated lol.
@citycowboy702 Жыл бұрын
No real need to compare with other brands. Just hand them money and they'll do the best they can for the price (along with a bunch of laughable lies, but still). I had a BOSS amp back in the late 90s. Had it for years. I TORTURED that amp, and it never died on me. Now Kicker? Kicker amps will burn out, EASY. Never run Kicker amps at their lowest impedance rating. I burned out two Kicker amps in under a year by running them hot n heavy at 1 ohm. Nowadays, I just buy Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio, but there was a time when my pocketbook was more than a little thin, and for the PRICE... Totally.

@@Chuck_Sanders I'll look into that, thanks! I used the loudspeaker database for the info for WinISD and it had a woofer profile for that one(but not a comp c one, go figure!), but I'm not sure how they came up with the results. I still managed to make a decent enclosure, but the manual was listing the same size enclosure for the 8, 10, and 12" models @1.5cu ft, the tunings were different though. All in the course of doing what is basshead love doing. Take it easy!

2500w is underrated! I had two of these bad boys in my suburban on a Boss 5k doing 160db on music. I had two capacitors and my voltage never dropped below 10.5 so the amp was probably doing more like 15k. I ended up selling them because I was tired of replacing all my windows and gaskets from the subs blowing my windows out.

@@ParkerTheBasshead check out my car stereo system on my channel it's all second hand equipment JBL 12inch subwoofer Kenwood 500wrms amp Kenwood speaker's and headunit been asking for second hand builds from like flee markets and second hand Shops I find U can build a fairly good setup on a really tight budget my system cost me $50 for the JBL sub , amp was $50 I got the speaker's and headunit from a car wrecking yard for $40 it's no comp setup it plays sq and bass too the video nothing like sending the front windshield gives a idea of what it's like (song is clouded by rates)

@@ParkerTheBasshead so what would you estimate the true rms as? About 500 per sub?

Super hilarious sarcasm in the beginning 😂😂😂
@robysvids8 ай бұрын
I really would like to see if 1500w rms would destroy these. I got the 1500w 10 inch ones. My amp is pushing 1500w rms to two of them and it started smelling. They won't handle 750w each. I got mine at around 800w pushing seems still to harsh lol.

Tried a 12 inch Boss and it lasted for 2 months and it crapped out on a spare 850 watt Kenwood amp from 2012 that I was using until my other amp got repaired. Tried another 12 inch because it was covered under warranty. and that one lasted 23 days. After my amp finally got repaired and no more overheating issues, I went back with Skar Audios SVR's. Never had any issues with Skar products. Prior to trying out the Boss audio subs, I had SVR's that ended up getting damaged do to me being in an accident and my rear windows blowing out. Wet weather wasn't kind to my subs.

Don't clip your subs..
@Sandman18322 жыл бұрын
@@baronvonlimbourgh1716 Kind of hard to clip a sub when the gain of the amp is only 1/4 turn from 0, your volume stays under 20, and your stereo is set for the most efficient setting for the subs frequency. I don't bump my music loud nor do I push any speaker or subs to their max. My sub box is tuned to the specifications of a sub including the required cubic feet needed for the subs to be able to function properly. Both Boss subs failed on me in a short period time frame. I have had my Skar subs twice as long and they have yet to have any issues. You get what you pay for in this case.

So an idea, should do a SPL build off with a chosen sub across the board (spin the wheel for a vote select list) and participants will have to build a box, amp choice is up to the builder, and do the dopest destruction of the subs to win. But it has to be done the Parker way. Same songs and all.

The armor series 12”s are unintentionally pretty good free air. 4 of those bad boys in a low wall with no box on a cheap class ab amp could get you some pretty solid score in the low 30’s with amazing sound quality for pretty cheap and with very little space taken up, with like 120 watts lol.

Im glad your doing reviews, but those are nice and all that ALOT of people can afford. Hell, lets be honest, they are bigger and badder than alot of people have or could have. So i dont think u should mock them so hard. They shouldnt put peak on box, but if you have these subs they are nice looking and shouldnt be ashamed!!! I remember when you were making vids and didnt even know what the parts were called man. Imagine if you had these or worse and u watched this vid. How would u feel??? PEOPLE, BUY WHAT YOU LIKE AND WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD!!!! MOST OF US WILL WELCOME YOU TO THE CAR AUDIO BASS LIFE! YOU CAN ALWAYS GROW IB QUALITY AS YOU GROW IN CAR AUDIO KNOWLEDGE. Parker i know a WHOLE LOT of people that laugh at audiopipe. Also Taramps is crap to alot of people too! This is why u got into it was reviewing best for money bro.

If high db and longevity was the goal these did fairly well- 140db is not great but its good for just dropping them in any box! I had a pair of 300watt max Rockford fosgate 12s that did 140db on 500 watt amplifier. Ive seen 2000 watt subs do the same db so honestly why pay more for bigger subs and amps if u can get the same from less power subwoofers? Im sure its the magnet effects lol bigger and more expensive means better
