That was cool, but so muddy. Do you know if this can get a pretty decent death metal, scooped mid tone? I’m sure there’s someway to dial-in a better tone than this particular one. Great for the price, I guess it really can’t be compared to an IR. Or even a $100 STL tone package. Thanks! 🤘🏻🎸

Wow. That '59 crunch is spot on. Digital has come a long way. Does it maintain that sweet tone at volume? That's where modeling has dropped the ball in the past. Distorted tones used to break up and were intolerable above a drum kit.

Unfortunately the GT 1000 with the new Impulse Response technology, called A.I.R.D that the new unit uses but its $1000.00. thats alot of $$...hotone binary pedals use this I.R. technology....the Moorer GE 200 is also using this new technology...that's why the boss Katana is so good...the Amps are analog...only the effects are digital and the brown setting is A+

Awesome! Are you going through the effects loop, or have it set up right in front using preamp and everything through the GT? Actually, with the cables there looks like you are going through the back too. I don’t have an effects loop, so I’m starting to hear I may not be able to use this completely? I don’t want to use it just for fx, and use my amp preamp. I wanted to get a little better metal sound like I hear from this unit. Thank you! 🤘🏻🎸

Trying to decide between the GT-1 and a Zoom G3xn..
@calebvillalba74968 жыл бұрын
Same thing here, have you gotten anyone yet? Gimme some advice pls
@MCOGroupNews8 жыл бұрын
I haven't gotten either yet, but a lot of people seem to like the Zoom G3xn/G5n a lot more. Aesthetically I prefer the way the Boss GT-1 looks, but from the videos I've seen the Zoom seems to have better tones than the boss. The general consensus i've noticed is people say Zoom has better Amp simulators/distortions and drives than the Boss GT-1 but from what I understand the GT-1 has better modulation effects than the zoom? Though if I'm being honest here I really like the sound of both the Zoom and Boss pedals, and I feel like the Zoom is up to par with the GT-1 if not better. Another thing to consider is the Zoom G3xn and G5n (if you're willing to spend 100 more for the G5n model) both come with a power supply, so you don't have to spend the extra $30 or so USD you would if you opted for the Boss. Granted the Boss GT-1 can be alternatively powered by batteries, which is neat because it increases the portability, but the battery life is around 6 to 7 hours from what I've heard and I'm not sure if i'm willing to spend money on extra batteries or an extra $30 for the power supply, i'm on a bit of a budget. Another neat feature about the Zoom G3xn and G5n is they come with some built in drum patterns and an 80 second looper, while the Boss only has a 32 second looper (granted, for some people that's enoough but a little more for the same price wouldn't hurt). TO SUM THINGS UP: I haven't made a definitive decision yet but I may be leaningtowards purchasing the zoom, unless anyone has any objections.
@calebvillalba74968 жыл бұрын
Thx a lot for your detailed response man. I definitely think that zoom's got a better tone, but the thing that has kept me in doubt is the USB interface wich Boss has and the zoom doesn't. I'm thinking to get the zoom and later some kind of cheap interface (I'm in a budget too), what do you think?
@MCOGroupNews8 жыл бұрын
That's my dilemma as well. The Zoom G3xn does have a USB port, but it's basically useless aside from the fact it'll let you download new patches ad manage them through their "Zoom guitar lab software" but besides that, not much else (I don't think it lets you record with it as the Comparison chart on the Zoom website implies.) which is kind of a shame :/. If you're willing to spend an extra $100 though, the G5n supports USB Audio, but i'm assuming the idea here is to stay within a budget so again, that is my dilemma as well otherwise I would have been sold.
@TheDreamsCreator7 жыл бұрын
useful debate. I am comapring them both and leaning to BOSS . Can anyone share a proper comparison video? For me the deciding factor is tones only. The videos i found i feel boss got more usable tones, and real wide stereo effects. (In this video its audible). ACC SIM is way too good, may be need some +1db boost in 500-700Hz. A real plus in ZOOM G3Xn is it got 3 FX on off on the fly(correct me if I am wrong), which is nice for live gig. GT 1 has only 1 CTRL switch. i dont think any professional recording gonna happen through USB (till this date), You are going to end up with processor to AI mostly. OR micking separate amp with SM57 or so.

@heyjarrod3 жыл бұрын
I believe so, did you find out any more information? I’m really looking into getting this unit. Still a little confused on the difference between patches, blocks, amps sims. The way I understand it, many of your own created patches can be saved, hopefully!? 🤔 Hmmm. I’m still wondering if he is playing this through his effects loop, as I don’t have one. Since I don’t, I heard I need to use my own preamp, and only the effects from this unit. 🤘🏻🎸
@bikersoncall3 жыл бұрын
@@heyjarrod I can answer part of this now, some later, and I'm no expert. You mentioned patches, that is common term for sounds within a processor like this processor GT-1, that you and I create, we might simply start from a factory preset that we like, tweak it to make it suit our ears better, then save it in our user banks. There are preset banks and user banks, preset banks come from the factory, and user banks are usually also loaded with the same factory presets, we can delete any of them or change them and store them within our 'user banks' . Typically, there will be something like 70 Factory presets and 70 User 'slots' , the factory presets are usually also what is initially loaded in our User Slots, the factory preset section can't be changed and saved in the factory area, but can be temporarily changed and then saved to 0ur user area, or into one of our user slots/ patches, then the factory preset will default back exactly as it was. This might be a good unit, Boss has a good reputation, there are others out now that may be better, I don't own the Boss. Good luck , I'll look at your other questions tomorrow, feel free to ask further questions as the arise, that's how I learned my way around processors, and no, you do not need a preamp, you just plug your guitar into the guitar input and use headphones or plug the unit into an amp or pa.
@heyjarrod3 жыл бұрын
@@bikersoncall Great, thank you. No hurry at all. A lot of good stuff here and your message. I mean, I do have a great combo amp, 2 12s, with a good dirty channel that I overdrive with my boss distortion. Peavey tweed 50 watt Classic. But still not quite what I’m looking for to get up to date with a newer Metal sound. So I was thinking to just use the preamp models here, and a effects. And not use my preamp. I thought I was told that without an effects loop, there’s no way to bypass my amps preamp… so that leaves me only using this BOSS unit for a fx. If that is even correct. So it’s those factory presets that can be temporarily changed and saved, but always revert back to factory every time you turn the unit off? So it does sound like I’ll have more than enough patches saved in the bank to not have to keep pressing buttons. Maybe a little here and there. I’d just like to be able to have a heavy rhythm preset/patch, a lead tone like you mentioned, but also some other combinations of sounds, just a handful, without having to push buttons. Ha ha. So within each bank, how many presets can we just access by a stomp in a live setting? I believe the two buttons go through the bank, and the CTL is more of an overall governor something or other? Great stuff, thank you. I’m probably spending a little too much time on it, great unit for the price. Maybe I will just go for. Just hearing that Tera Echo makes me want it, ha ha. I’ll look around, not sure if that’s too unique to this processor, or if old boss pedals have that. I like boss, been using them since the 80s, don’t know where some of my old pedals even are. By the way, what other units are you looking at? This seems like the best bang for your buck. And I just like BOSS, even aesthetically. Which is kind of silly, just an 80s thing I guess. 😎🤘🏻🎸
@bikersoncall3 жыл бұрын
@@heyjarrod For now, lets talk about 3 things: -presets (turning on off machine) -effects loop that you don't have -preamp of your amp PRESETS; I found out that in the user banks for this machine you get 99 Factory, and 99 User 'slots' , when you turn off the unit your edited patches are saved, they don't get erased or return to factory., it's just the Factory banks that hold the factory presets that revert to default of original factory presets after you tweak them, that is a good thing too, it's an industry standard. So why would you want to even tweak FACTORY PRESETS, or mess with them since the USER banks to start with are identical, well once you've edited some of your USER PATCHES, the originals of those patches are gone, so if you want to start over with that patch from scratch , you could go to the corresponding FACTORY patch, start over with it, then save it to that patch that you wanted to find out where it orginated, and now you can do your re-tweeks to that patch. Once again, if you decide you hate all of the patches that you created yourself, you can factory restart, and render them all back to factory, bearing in mind the FACTORY BANKS REMAIN FACTORY REGARDLESS, its just your user banks that get re-defaulted. IN other words; The only way that user patches that you create can revert to the factory user patch is by doing a factory reset. Once again , or if I DIDN'T mention it, when you first start a new processor, out of the box you will have for eg: 100 Factory presets and 100 User presets/which become user patches once you edit or change them. To start with the Factory 'Banks' and User Banks will all be the same. EFFECTS LOOP; Since you don't have one , no big deal really, and you can still get a modern metal or high gain by using a processor, now I don't know if this processor has the best high gain capability or not, it might. You probably won't user your High gain channel on your amp, you will use your clean channel and go from there, I would say that most guitar players that want great 80's and current sounds won't ever use their Dirt or high gain channels. they will do everything to shape their sound with a processor or a set of pedals. It is great to have an effects loop, but you usually run your wah pedal and distortion into the front of your amp using clean channel anyway, so theirs that feature, with your processor since you don't have that efx loop on your amp, you need to look at typical processor effects chain or the sequence of which effect comes first in the chain, no set rule there, but the guidelines are sometimes the best way to go. PREAMP; I guess I already talked about that, the preamp on your amp on the clean channel should be fine, just don't use the dirt/ distortion channel on your amp, or use an footswitch for your amp channels. As far as 'Looks' , how the processor looks, yeah, that's somethin that's always important to me as well, I don't want something that looks like a kids toy, lol, I love the look of the NUX, and some of the MOOER Processor, but that doesn't equate to sound quality , :shrugs: Feel free to asks all the questions you wish, I hope some of this helps..
@heyjarrod3 жыл бұрын

My main problem with boss mulieffects (and all brands really) is that all of the factory presets are over the top. They are mostly unusable settings designed to showcase everything the pedal could do, but not what a musician would want to do. Secondly, vokume levels vary drastically from patch to patch. Whoever is programming this stuff must be tone deaf, for certain.It is why I abandoned multieffects years ago and returned to dedicated stomp boxes.
