Honestly, the stellar sound out of boss units hasn't convinced me to stick with Boss as much as Glenn Delaune has. This man knows how to get great results out of these units. Aren't we lucky that he shares his knowledge? Is he using a green slurpee straw to designate point of focus on the unit?😅

Thank you so much for pointing out the power of “current number” assignments. I have a Boss MS-3 which has this capability as well, the only drawback is unlike the GX-100 the switch LED doesn’t change color when the second layer is activated. I actually had to make a small box with a bright LED that I trigger from control out 1 using, you guessed it, the current number feature! Now I know for certain when I’m in the second layer of any patch.

Thanks so much for the in-depth video. I've been checking out videos on this unit all day, and yours is the first I've found that goes through the assigning of multiple blocks/parameters to one switch. That's a feature I absolutely need. Been using a POD Go for the last year or so, but while I like the size and layout, it's just too limited. Plus, BOSS stuff just feels better to me (used a GT-8 for about ten years). So I think I'll make the switch to the GX-100 when it hits the market. Thanks again.

It’s the early morning hours of Feb. 16, 2024 as I view this review and leave my comment, Glenn. This definitely is an in-depth review. I’ve spent the last 3 or 4 months meditating on possibly purchasing the counterpart to this unit, the Boss GT-1000 Core. This review has definitely got me thinking again (and thankful I hadn’t already bought the Core). I appreciate how Core bolsters dual inputs and dual effects loops. I think I would prefer greater real-time control (that hopefully would not necessitate constantly using the software) over the additional ins and outs. It also need not be ultraportable. It would also be great to know that I wouldn’t need to get an additional expression pedal with the Line 6 XP-1 I already have, assuming that is compatible with something like the GX-100. Can you confirm that any expression pedal will do?
@shawnshipstad2184 Жыл бұрын
I would bet there is going to be a big, new & improved big brother to the GX-100. This is why I am waiting. I have not heard 100% positive feedback. This I think is typical, for a new "Ground Breaking" unit. I am hoping for a more efficent on screen display, with more fined tuned and better features?? Just a dream at this point.

I’m ordering that board this week it makes so much sense. Do I use this going into my PRS HDX20 which goes into my Marshal 2x12? And if so how should I dial in the amp?? 6 O’clock or lower. That confuses me because I’ve never used a board like this. Only pedals . Thanks great demo again.

Thank you for this vid Glen. I've used Helix in the past, test drove a HeadRush, and I'm currently using Kemper. With Kemper, I miss the near endless flexibility that comes with modelers. What can you say or what perspective can you recommend for a guy like me that needs to see the usual names like Marshall, Fender, Vox, Diezel, etc when they use a modeler? Excellent demo, very clear and easy to understand. I have one question for you. I'm considering buying the GX-100 but my problem is I feel I need support for setlists. It doesn't look like Boss natively supports them. Helix LT by comparison supports 8 setlists. A Boss customer support person just told me that GX-100 does, but they must be organized using Tone Studio on a computer. I understand that Tone Studio indeed supports setlists. But what's the benefit if the hardware doesn't let you select them? Does every patch in the setlist just get dumped in with all the existing ones randomly? I get that a customer could manually upload a long list of patches to memory before a gig. But they'd have to be loaded/dragged one by one and without any errors in the process, correct? Tone Studio seems to lack a button to automatically upload a setlist to the GX-100. Or am I missing something? And does the unit have a menu option to choose the setlist like Helix does? I realize your Rush setlist seems to use just one main patch with variations to cover all of Alex's sounds. So perhaps you're workflow isn't that big on setlists. For me I cover 50's to 90's rock with every style imaginable. I feel the need to upload a long, custom setlist for every occasion. Or perhaps I'm overthinking it. Anyway, since you use Helix, perhaps you can you could make a video comparing, say Helix LT with GX-100? Covering the practical aspects of managing patches in Windows, uploading setlists to the unit, sorting them, accessing them on stage, etc. So far nobody on KZbin seems to cover that. Does the Boss method suffice or do you recommend Helix?

Hello! I’m having one issue. I just got the GX-100 and so far the only issue I’m having is that I feel like there is a sound gate on that’s to sensitive? My sustain just cuts right off and I’m using two core PRS’s 594 and a custom 24-08 core. My Kirt Hammet Ltd 602 even cuts right off. So what setting needs to changed because I don’t see a sound gate in any of the presets. Hope it’s ok that I asked you. Playing through a PRS HDRX 20 into a 2x12 Marshall …Thanks James
@scriptkiddy14922 жыл бұрын
Hi, Glenn! First time commentator here. Do you have any informations if Boss has plans to release a rack version of this (or a similar) unit in the future to compete with the Helix and Axe FX? I'm not a big fan of "floor based" (?) equipment for non-live situations as it's just uncomfortable to use even when you sit down but the Axe FX is just too expensive in my opinion and the community seems rather toxic. I'm asking because I have a GT-10 and although I love its design, clean sounds and FX section I have always not been so happy with the high gain sounds.

Has anyone tried to connect a Moog EP-3 external expression pedal. I have a preset where the built in expression pedal (EXP1) controls foot volume and wah. I am trying to connect an external expression pedal to control Pitch Bend or other effects.
@tobiaskks89511 ай бұрын
So helpful, thank you!!! Do you know if it’s possible to make the expression pedal control a parameter of an effect? More specifically I want to control the Vibe rate via the expression pedal but can’t seem to find the right settings… Also would like to be able to use Wah in the same chain 🤔
@GlennDeLauneOfficial11 ай бұрын
Yes this could be done. You'd lose the Volume control but could tie the U-Vibe rate to the pedal in the normal state and still have the Wah at the toe press. You would do all this from the assigns settings.

I'm hoping you can help me... I have recently gotten this unit used, but I fear it may be broken with a grounding issue. When I touch the knobs under the lcd screen, I can hear both scratching sounds if I rub (not turn) the knob top, it also very audibly grounds the unit similar to touching a metal part of my guitar. Is this normal? Does yours do this? I'm getting worried. I can also hear a constant noise, different than typical 60 cycle hum. It's not as apparent with clean patched, but with any amount of gain it becomes quite noticeable. Changing from my single coil neck pickup to my humbucking bridge does not reduce the noise, so thats why I don't think it's typical single coil hum, but something internal to the device. Any advice or insight would be appreciated.
@GlennDeLauneOfficial Жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be doing that. It could be a grounding issue with wherever you have the unit plugged into. I would try it in another part of your house just to make sure.
