I totally agree. This gizmo is the best thing since sliced bread. My journey started with the Scholz Rockman and continued through the Helix Effects module. I’m getting ready to buiId an uber-pedal board to be used through a few specific amps. I initially bought the GX-100 to have easy access to effects for when I’m looking for a quick and easy setup for my practice amps in another part of the house. However, I was not ready for the incredible sounds to be had. I might end up having rethink my whole approach!

Thanks, Paul, for an easy, methodical trip through the process of getting started with this amazing piece of gear. As you already know, life here in the states got turned upside down this past Tuesday, so I’ve had to turn to the things my life that lift me up, especially playing guitar. Really, I probably bought the GX-100 out of impulse, but once I plugged in, I knew I’d found a great sounding piece of kit (is that correct British terminology?) that could be a great distraction. I set up the unit last night for the first time using the four cable setup into a Blackstar HT-5RH MK II 5-watt head played through a Celestion Classic Lead 80. Even without fiddling with presets, I was blown away by what I heard. As you know, it only comes with a basic quick start guide, so I downloaded the full 95 page manual. Today I watched several KZbin tutorials, and yours turned out to be the best of the bunch. I truly appreciate you taking the time to put together a terrific video. Cheers!

I bought my about a month ago, so I’m a few years behind. I’ve been busy with guitar restoration projects, as well as battling with a few pesky health problems. I’m nearly done with the most labor-intensive parts of the refinishing, so I’ll finally have time to spend getting to know this nifty gadget. Generally speaking, I’m a real-time effects guy by nature, though I’ve always loved the evolution of new technology. I enjoy these videos, you have a great way of explaining things. A few weeks ago you were extolling the GT-1000 Core, now you seem to have switched to the GX-100 exclusively, but presumably the comments and setup of the patch in this video apply equally well to GT-1000.

Sounds great! I got mine a few days ago, and I'm loving it. Set up a killer preset for my tribute band, with a clean amp and a dirty amp, and plenty of switching options to create what essentially amount to 3 snapshots/scenes plus toggling a couple individual effects. Amazing piece of gear.

8:34 a shortcut for assignments in the effects view: long press the knob below CH SELECT and it will create a new assignment for you, though you'll still need to enable it and select CTL1 as source.

Great instructions. Thank you. I finally got that gear and it's really sounds great. Maybe some firmware update is needed to correct slow changing and saving preset with apps. I hope Boss will do it.

Hey Paul, all of your tutorial videos are exceptional, but I have a question. I'm using my GX-100 direct through the PA at my church for Praise & Worship except it just sounds bad! We've tried "gain staging" but it still sounds bad. Someone suggested I may need to turn off the amp simulation in the unit. Is that a viable option and is it possible? You need to delete everything in a patch.

Once you've created an INIT patch, you can copy it as needed. The Tone Studio app can help with bulk operations. Some users create entirely blank set lists in Tone Studio for bulk INIT.

Love your videos for the Katana, and I used some of your settings on the WAZA Air that worked using Katana settings. I’ve had a Pod Go for about a year, but ready to go back to Boss. Love the multiple guitar input setups as my go-to guitar is a Carvin DC150 and just got a Kiesel with Lithium pickups that are very hot. Do you know if Boss came up with any easy way to copy sounds between their products vs. recreating everything manually?
