Would greatly appreciate any help with this issue. How do I change the tempo of a prerecorded saved track while still maintaining the quality of the tone? Presently any time I try to manipulate the tempo of a recorded saved track I get a very undesirable, unwanted warbling/flanger sort of effect on the signal. I want to be able to speed up the tempo without compromising the sound. Is this possible, and if so how?

Hey I really enjoy your videos they definitely helped me out a lot in finding my optimal setup! Just thought I’d share my setup with you. I made a pretty powerful pedalboard like yours so I’m using the boss gt core 1000 with stereo output into the boss rc-10r then split the connections for the RC-10r like in the video you showed us and both connections going into the Darkglass elements (drums into aux input of elements and guitar into the amp input of the elements). This lets me use the boss gt as amp and ir/cab sim or the amp in the gt and the thousands of cab sims in the elements 🤘🏼 plus the elements is a headphone preamp, EQ and has a Bluetooth receiver so I can jam along with backing tracks at the end of my signal chain! Would love to see what you think if this setup. Also I can record high quality sounds and video using the rode sc6-l into my iPhone and get studio level recordings into my phone or for IG/Facebook live Thanks again for all the tips I really appreciate you helping all of us out. Take care and hope you and your loved ones are safe and in good health🙏

Hi Ben, bought the ultimate course (which I am thoroughly enjoying) to solve a specific problem that I can't seem to solve still. Hoping you, or someone out there can help. I like to loop live, just a guitar, using verse chorus on two tracks set up as single, series, track change at end of loop and have experimented with loop sync on and off on each track. I am able to make it work most of the time, but all too often when switching to second loop or chorus, it is completely out of sync with drums. The tracks are quite often different lengths and I like to loop on the fly without having to change settings each song. The songs that I am experimentiing with are I Saw Her Standing There, Green River and Brown Eyed Girl. Sometimes it really smooth, I use track change at end of loop and it works well (when it works.) I have learned that you can't start recording that second loop ahead of time (using loop end) as it throws it off, so have been pretty accurate with that and still, randomly it goes way out. Any advice would be helpful.

It was mentioned to turn off 'loop s' for a track after recording to have playback begin at the start of the loop as a work around. However for the money spent on the RC500 this is an issue. Read my answers to validoberz and mylos11. Turning on or off the "loop s" parameter (with quantize on) will have different results, depending on what you want to achieve. Briefly: record with "loop s" and "quantize" on if you want to stick to the rythm tempo. Then let the "loop s" like that or deactivate at least one if you want different behavior while playing the recorded tracks.
@isaaclazaro24

@@BlackSun3Tube Thanks - I found turning off 'loop s' after recording helped if you want playback to begin at the start of 'track 2' for example. If 'loop s' is kept on 'track 2' playback will start midway through especially if there are different measures between tracks 1 & 2. This is annoying given you have to physically change this each time on the interface. Not sure why Boss has created the functionality this way. At minimum there should be an extra control to assign to a footswitch / midi player to toggle 'loop s' on / off.

@BlackSun3Tube

It depends on what you want. (solution here with firmware 1.04, last one at this day). Setting the quantize function to "measure" AND setting on "loop s" will actually activate the quantization, which will not work if you do only one of both. So it's higly recommandeed for standard loops. Then, if you want the track 2 to begin (while playing it, so, after recording, this time) at its first measure, you've got to set at least one "loop s" to off. But if you want the 2 tracks to complete each other, you've got to let the 2 "loop s" on. For example, recording one note per beat on T1, you record the C and D notes. And on T2, the notes E F G A B. Then, if you turn at least one "loop s" to off and play one time each track, you will hear C D E F G A B. But if you let both "loop s" set to on, you will hear C D G A B, as the E and F of the track 2 are played silently at the same time you hear the C and D of the first track, and when you do your track change, the second loop go on its "road", but now you hear where it is on while the track one shut up. (supposing of course, you change from T1 to T2 without stopping the flow - can be achieve by setting the "single change" parameter to "loop end", for example.). Note: to have different lenghts for track1 and track 2, a good way is to set the tracks lenghts to "auto". Read my answer to mylos11 for another kind of explanation.

A single track can record up to 1.5 hour ... should be enough for one song, no? :) But if you don't want to play the entire song in "one shot", instrument by instrument, overdub after overdub on a single track, you will have to use switches to change tracks and memories too in most cases.

I think setting the loop sync to off for both tracks is not necessary and may lead to unwanted results. Loop sync syncs the start of the loop with the start of the rhythm measure. In my case this is desiderable. Play mode to single sets the loop as verse / chorus. What helped in my case was to set the memory->rec->quantize to measure.
@andreafiorito9491
@andreafiorito9491 3 жыл бұрын
after further tests, i can say the firmware is full of bugs/unintended behaviours. the time when you press the record switch to record the chorus, relative to position of the first loop influences, the duration of the chorus loop. If the verse loop is midway, the chorus comes out same length of the verse. if you press at the start of the verse loop, chorus can be recorded of different length. The playback seems also to be influenced, like as if the positions of the loop was changing also if the loop is not playing. so you can end up to play the verse midway instead that from the start.

My RC-500 has a longish (5 seconds or so) delay AFTER I hit STOP. I notice this behavior even more on longer loops. At first I think I missed the button or the looper is broken, but several seconds later, it finally stops. This really throws me off. Especially because the Drums/Rhythm keeps going. To be usable, it needs to STOP immediately. I have about 10 other memories saved. Is it a buffer/memory issue? Do I need to update firmware? I have done resets in the past. I have it plugged into a 300ma supply. Do I need to upgrade the PSU? Otherwise I really love the Looper. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? If my loop is very short, say 5 seconds, it STOPS immediately. Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

So I 'm trying to find a way to mute the drums (drumtrack) when I press the track two button where I want only the bass. Maby I can setup an extra pedal to mute the drum with my foot . But that will be tap dancing because I also have to press the track button to select the second channel . It would be great if you can store the "drum mute "within a track . And when i select channel one again that the drum will play again. And is it possible to programm a different drum sound or the B variation on track two and f.i. the A sound on track 1 ? I bought this pedal because of videos like this. Looks like it works beautifully. And it should. It’s really so close. However, after a deep dive, I have found the truth is, as long as Loop Sync is on, which you need to be in true sync with a set tempo, the tracks still just play concurrently. This is a big problem when you intend on loops with different lengths. This means that switching these loops A/B just switches them at the time you’re at within the other loop; they’re just constantly playing back and switching focus, instead of just stopping one and starting the other from the beginning. Tricky to explain with words, but the literal worst to deal with. Makes it unusable for my purposes, where all these demonstration videos advertising this feature made me think otherwise.

Doesn't look like there have been any firmware updates since to rectify this as they're constant playing back and it cuts halfway through the longer track.

So I am trying to add a drum loop for track 1 for the verse, and a different one for track 2 for the chorus (actually just a variation). Does it just record a command to play that suggested loop or does it record audio to the track. And I should be able to record another variation and another bass loop on track 2?

Did you find a solution on how to have VARIATION A in track 1 and VARIATION B on track 2? Can't find one myself. Annoying to say the least!

I can’t seem set the bar length to say 4 bars and it used to stop and play the loop back automatically without me having to press the button again to finish loop and now for the life of me can’t get it to do it now grrrr !!

Because I experienced some pbms, here's my solutiion depending on different way you want the loop to work, in single mode (so A will be played, then B, and so on, but not both playinng at the same time). If you want the tracks to be recorded synchronized to the rythm(and together too), you've got to set the memory quantize function to "measure" (firmware 1.04) and the tracks "loop s" parameter to on. (The quantize function works only if the considered track is set to "loop s" on AND the quantization is activated). Then, two cases, assuming for example that you want the change between tracks coming at the end of each loop (track change set to .. "loop end"! so ...). As an example, you've got a 2 measures track 1, and a 8 measures track 2. You play 2 times the first track, then play one time the second track (note: requires tracks length parameter set to "auto" for recording, so you can have 2 different lenghts without saying, for each track, the lenght needed - after the recordig, the track measures number will be displayed automatically in this parameter page). First case, if you let the parameters "loop s" of both tracks to "on", the second loop will begin at its 5th measure (the two tracks start virtually together, even hearing just one because of the "single" memory parameter; it's a bit like if the entire loop has the lenght of the biggest track, and you can change track in the midddle of this duration for example; the "loop end" parameter just ensure you play the entire track before the change occurs, but not that the newly activated track will begin at its real start, of course). But, second case, if you want the track newly activated to start at its own begining (in my example, you play 2 times the first track, then play the second track wich will begin at its own first measure, not at its 5th one, like in my previous case), you've got to set, for example, the second track "loop s" parameter to off. So, you've got to change at least a "loop s" parameter between recording (on) and playing (off)... Read my answer to validoberz to complete a bit this.

@@BlackSun3Tube THANK YOU, Black Sun!!!!!!!!!! THIS was the answer I've been looking for. Makes perfect sense, now that it's been explained.

@@ksmcquee If I could help, that s cool :) I didn't work on this device for some times now, I think there was another parametrer to change to ensure it works perfectly everytime - I don't remember if I did take it in account here or no. But tiis should be a good approach on the way to get what you want - there may be too some firmware updates since I worked on it last time, with maybe some changes ... Thank you for your comment!

Don't know why the factory setting isn't like that. Honestly most people are buying a two-track Looper expecting it to do that. I know I did

So this is the deal with this, is that if you are precording the tracks as i do, there is no real point in doing track A for verse and track b for chorus, because if you are somewhat ADHD, you can easily forget that you have to press track 2 to play the chorus, then track A to play the verse. I say eliminate the pedal dancing and record the whole thing on one track if you are prerecordingfyour tracks, then memorize the arrangement. I tried setting these up as verse chorus, and live, kept screwing it up because of the pedal dancing thing. You can do the verse/chorus thing if you want, but you really have to get used to the pedal dancing, but , if you aren't live looping , why put yourself through that. Maybe figure that out later and commit the pedal dancing to muscle memory before trying it live.

Btw I'm the one that disliked this video, as per current firmware, no matter what combinations of parameters you set, you bump into weird behaviours. So this video is basically false information, or misleading advertisement.
