Very underrated guitar effect, but useful not only for electric guitar. With electric piano works as well. I'm not sure if 202 is better. 20 is more analogue, but core in both is digital.

Really want one of these and its crazy they're going for so much now. I had a real RE-201 about 20 yrs ago. paid $650 for it, in really clean shape. The delay tone was unmatched, but it robbed SO MUCH punch and treble from my tone, even when bypassed, and I didn't feel comfortable hauling such a delicate piece to and from gigs. Side note, as underwhelming as the RE-20 isolated reverb is, the RE-201 was also very disappointing. Sounded nice adding just a tiny bit into the delay signal but terrible by itself, FWIW.

Nice demo as always ! I do really like the RE-20, I bought one even after buying the Volante. I use the Volante in lot's of music and wanted something with a different character. I only wish it had a way of controlling the wow and flutter like the dd-500 algo. The dd-500 algo sounds very different from the re-20.

Interesting. I wonder if the GT-1000 core offers the same tweak-ability, but with a more authentic and accurate sound?

Ah ok. Maybe they'll update it one day? 🤷‍♂️ Disappointed about the sound difference you mentioned. I've always heard that the RV-500 patch sounds pretty close to the RE-20...

It's a great pedal, but there are many other options for great tape echo pedals. The Nux Tape Core Deluxe is one you should definitely check out. It sounds identical to this, but is about half the price! And it's smaller, too.

Your tone here is really fantastic, reminds me of Spacemen 3. Do you remember what guitar, amp, etc. you were using?

Many thanks! I always use the same gear when I demo things, just to keep a level of continuity. I've got my '85 MIJ Fender Strat, going into a Joyo California Sound - which is an amp/cab sim pedal emulating a Mesa Boogie - and then feeding direct into my phone. I personally think that Strat + Mesa is an incredibly underrated combo, especially for clean tones!
